Portland is one of my favorite places - so you ought to have an apostafest there some day just so I can attend! I like Jake's restaurant and Powell's book store and the views and the river and and ...

Club Meeting, America the Beautiful and the Pledge of Allegiance.....
by AK - Jeff inall in one night.. per some good advice a few weeks back from this board, i have attended my first 'service club' meeting of my life.
carmel had suggested to try kiwanis international - and so i did.
the introduction began to break jwism's from the get-go [precisely where i am at in my paradigm].

America the beautiful is a pretty song - I also like to sing the national anthem. Don't know if I could say amen to a prayer, but I could be nice and quiet at least. Sounds like a smart thing to do - hope you keep us posted. Others may want to follow your lead, but feel timid.

Do your burial wishes reflect your inner most beliefs?
by Gregor inthe subject of how ones remains are dealt with, i think, is very revealing of ones core beliefs.
i've heard atheists say that under no circumstances would they want to be cremated.
that, to me, is inconsistent with their proclaimed viewpoint.

might be nice to have a party and have everyone tell lots of jokes. No, on second thought, sound like too much fun without me.

A Fish Called Wanda is really funny - I've seen it a couple of times. The world according to Garp isn't as good in my opinion. Maybe that's because I find Robin Williams hard to take.

"religion is a man-made wish, a cause of dangerous sexual repression, and a distortion of our origins in the cosmos."
I've never heard it said better and more concisely. Religion is a reflection of the people who create it - it has nothing to do with a creator, there's not even any evidence there is a creator, but still religion has the power to ruin lives, cause death and destruction.

it's spamming - unsolicited email - and could get you in trouble if the recipients got pissy and tracked down your IP address.

I remember letter writing campaigns - to Malawi for instance - we spent hundreds of hours writing letters on those thin blue international airmail forms - handwriting so it took longer and we could count more time. No one supervised it or even looked at the letters to see what we were saying. could have been ranting our crazy little minds out - probably no one read them at the other end, either.
