  oh well, 1975. I was 25 then, had been in the org. my whole life. They strongly predicted the end of the world by fall of 1975. Just another of their failed prophecies. There are quite a few other times they predicted the end of the world, although they always deny it later. I knew people who gave up everything they owned, as well as their jobs and savings, to "work" fulltime in the preaching work, because the end was "near." Many of them have died since then, usually in poverty.

  I like your questions and you are certainly welcome here. I've been out for over 30 years now, but spent the first 30+ years of my live in the org. Lots of things changed my mind and got me to think. You might want to read a few different articles on what the characteristics of a cult are. Then decide for yourself if any of those characteristics describe the wtbts.

  Why elders' wives are such gossipers...

  i have a theory as to why elders' wives gossip so much.

  i believe a big part of it has to do with the conversation running dry (between themselves and their elder husbands) after so many years of marriage.

  since they don't get to spend too much "quality time" together (because of the elder husband's hamster wheel schedule), when they do have some intimate time alone, the elder's wives will invaribly attempt to engage their husbands in any kind of interchange.

  As an org. they are terribly gossipy. I was badly burned that way, personal information that I told in confidence to only one person when I was very depressed made its way around the entire circuit in no time at all. That still pisses me off when I think about it.

  It was an elder's wife who betrayed my confidence, btw. She was a close friend and I needed to talk. I thought she was trustworthy, but she wasn't.

  im not dfed yet, i told the elders for a long long time the wt is not gods org, i told them what i believed ,jesus being god, born again, yadda yadda yadda, i have not gone to a jw meeting in a long time, i go to church etc.. but what i feel would be a great relief and really help me be free is to come out on here with a pic and not hide behind unstopableravens username, im not sure if its a good idea or not..

  My mother wants to see my kids

  i decided to call my mother more often at the request of my brother (the parental units have been driving him crazy and my calling more hopefully will decrease the craziness my brother has had to deal with).

  so i called her last tuesday and the first thing that pops out of her mouth is she recovering from a weekend of babysitting her "substitute grandchildren" (her exact words and actually my nonjw cousin's children) since she doesn't get to see her own grandchildren.. wonderful .

  there are reasons why i don't take my children to my mother's house.

  You and your family are better off without exposure to all that negativity. And you're right to not respond to her little digs. You can't win with people like that, so no point in wasting your breath.

  Harlots Humiliate Jehovah Witness Preachers

  in a reminiscent event, harlots operating at a popular ezenei-cable point inasaba delta state have humiliated four gospel jehovah witness preachers during their routine activity leaving two of them stripped naked while their bags containing awake and watchtowers were allegedly set ablaze.. it would be recalled that few years ago some christian convertors from a popular pentecostal church after they were allegedly hoodwinked into love making with the harlots, had their bibles set ablaze upon their refusal to pay for their love making.. eyewitness told leadership friday that the incident occurred last tuesday towards nightfall when the preachers upon courage approached residents of the brothel to be part of their gospel teachings (word of god).. as it were, the tradition of jehovah witness widely known for strict compliance against things of the world especially as they carry out their preaching of house to house in group of male and female.. but as unsuspecting regular visitors/preachers to various places, sources said they moved into the brothel was greeted in happiness by some of the sexworkers who immediately assembled themselves to hear the word of god.. while the preaching lasted, our informed sources said many of the sex workers were seen like passersby clad in skimpy dresses that merely cover their nudity leaving their colleagues who had assembled to hear the word of god with serious gossip.. but this fateful day it was not to be for the jehovah preachers who had gone to the brothel without the female among them and in their usual way introduced the topic in one of the awake and while the biblical discourse lasted, the preachers were said to have been greeted in rude shock when one of the sexworkers identified as chinasa raced out of her room in what could be best described as hot pant that merely covers her nudity and with big bottle of stout and cigarette to drag one of them for sex.. in what looks like a childs play, the preacher leadership friday reliably gathered, resisted the attempt on him but the hookers method gained prominence and was dragged into the room.. leadership friday checks revealed that the sex workers modus operandi is to woo unsuspecting men into having sex with them via their skimpy dresses; a situation they also display their pubic hair.. expectedly the preacher and the harlot were said to have been engaged in serious battle right inside the room when his colleagues made attempt to rescue him but the situation became conflagrated as the harlots were allegedly said to have teamed up and seized their bags containing watchtower and awake.. they were said to have descended on them in severe beating including calling them names and allegations that they made love to them and did not pay.. .

  maybe they were just pissed off that some dumb JWs insisted on preaching to them during prime money-making time. I always thought it was rude to call on businesses and waste their time. These folks were trying to work!

  yes the title of my first post was a little negative " shatterd faith" and the truth is i dont feel like that at all.. its wonderful being in a state of not knowing as it makes hope possible.

  and what i now learn i will learn from within and also enjoy doubt.. so why do i call this post " i am free"?

  because i will no longer allow a tiny few control the direction of my life.

  Out and Gay but fed up of 'fading' - advice please.

  someone once quoted gandhi to me, but i don't actually think it was gandhi, saying that man can only be happy when what he says, what he believes and what he does are all in harmony.. how many of us led lives that meant all three of those were at loggerheads whilst jws?.

  i came out as gay when still a witness, to my family first and then my friends.

  they were all accepting of me, to varying degrees, but accepting.. i even asked the elders for help.
