Let Kids see Dub Grandparents or?

my mom and dad love my son, but i also know because of the depth of their brainwashing, they won't be respectful of my parenting (as i've asked them) and will try to "plant seeds" with him.

he's only 7, loves his grandma and papa very much and is easily confused and distressed when he gets conflicting info.

since we left the dubs, we've had a couple different run-ins with my parents trying subtle and not so subtle means to get at my son, or more accurately, get at me.

I have made it crystal clear to my JW mom that we are a packaged deal. She seems to think she can have her cake and eat to. She wants to be a grandparent to my daughter but still play the semi shunnning to me and my wife. That is very toxic and my daughter will not be exposed to it. She has another normal set of grandparents that she can spend all the time she wants with.

All of our JW parents have different levels of cultish behavior so we have to handle them according to our own intuition and judgement. My mother is a manipulator and expert at mindgames so she is out of the picture for now. I have seen other JW parents be completely cool about boundries with grandchildren and actually have a close to normal relationship.

Don't play thier stupid ass mind games. Go somewhere or don't answer the door, keep tham as far away as possible and get on with your own life. They are no longer in charge of you and what you do.

OK now, I'm really an apostate

so, i go to my jw uncle's funeral for obvious reasons!

after the funeral my family invites me to dinner, something we haven't done for some time (probably 8 years or so) as i'm considered disassociated not disfellowshipped.

i guess this is allowed per the new jw policy but since that crap changes from time to time i'm not sure.

Congrats on telling them to shove it!!!! Respect must be earned and can be quickly destroyed by hateful and disfunctional actions. I have many friends that are devout christians that do not judge me or look down thier noses at me. I have great respect for them because they live thier lives with love and acceptance even for those that do not go to thier church. Imagine that!

What is worse, a person that is not a christian or someone who claims to be but does not conduct themselves as one?

I had the greatest pleasure in telling my JW mom that I do not consider her a christain because she does not act like one. They really hate it when you point that out to them. Use the scriptures "by thier friuts you will know them", "actions speak louder then words".

although, after experiencing many disappointments and failed dates, i cannot let go and i cannot dismiss the expectation that god will intervene somehow.

i still hold on, hoping that maybe i will not experience sheol and neither will some of my loved ones.

I have been out for twenty years so I have long ago stopped living life in fear. Not only do I see how the JW's twist scripture but all the other christian religions as well. So from my standpoint they are all screwed up. A merciful god would understand that no matter what religion you were either raised in or sought out that they were all wrong and therefore no one would be held accountable.

If a class takes a brand new test and everyone flunks it is it the student' problem or was it a flawed test from the start.

I would say they are more delusional control freaks. They are under the delusion that they are getting messages from god and also wielding power and control over thier underlings.

If they were not at the WTBTS they would be in the corporate world as middle management. Ass kissing and sucking up will only get you that high. To be on the board requires talent, skill and education.

our company is establishing a new tobacco policy where smokers and tobacco users are no longer allowed to use tobacco in any form, either cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chew, or snuff, anywhere on company property.

this includes inside or outside the building, the parking lot, or even in your own personal vehicle while in the parking lot.

That is opening a big old can of worms when you consider how many people stink and all of the reasons why. What forms of stink are OK and which ones are not? Where do you draw the line?

i was raised a witness when i was a young child ,i have not been a believer for a long time and never thought i would be intrested again,i've meet a beautiful person that is a witness who is trying to get out of a abusive marriage the've been apart for more than a year and a half,he was a witness but is not any more he use's there children against her for a lot of different reson's he curently has more than one girl friend but continue's to abuse my friend mentally and more.

i've changed my life for the better in the last few years and am now considering becoming a witness again not only for me but for helping me keep my life on the right track,she has helped me realize alot of things in the last few months where i can improve my self,her oldest son resents me for being friends with his mother because i am not a curent member but this is because he is being couched by his father ,pretty sure it has nothing to do with me he dosn't really know me.with her son i'm pretty sure that no matter what i do his feeling will remain the same,does any one have any advise that might be able he help.my friend is at a breaking point with being pulled in so many directions i want to be able to help her but i dont know what to do.

I will never ever understand the dynamics involved with going back. I can see taking your time getting out and maybe regretting how long it took. But to taste life out of the Borg and then go back can be nothing less then insane no matter how you look at it.

Please read as many post's here as possible and really think about it hard. I have been out for over twenty years and never once regretted it or even considered going back for even a momment. Everything in my life got better and I finaly found true happiness and contentment. There is something about being able to engage in life and blend in with society, no longer feeling like a brainwashed freak.

As humans we are entitled to at least one unhealthy guilty pleasure. For one person it may be eating a whole container of Bon Bons and for another it may be a cig. None of us should be throwing stones because we all live in glass houses.

Besides, health nuts are going to feel kind of stupid laying in a hospital dying of nothing. You may think you are going to live forever but statistics say otherwise.

Ever blown-off your non-JW family due to cult dynamics or whateva?

i shouldn't have done this, but i did it, and don't know if i regret it or not.

i guess i am in deeply narcissistic mode or something.. the plan was to meet my aunties for dinner here in my town, but i started projecting the night before about their motives for both suddenly being here, one announced (and one unannounced until the last minute).

i suspect it has something to do with my jw grandma's declining health, but who knows?

My parents will pay very dearly for thier cult arrogance. One of my sisters lives in Canada and the other one is not speaking to them. Since they are both 65 and retired they should be thinking about thier future and just who will be helping them as they get older. I am sure it haunts them each day knowing that not one of thier three kids will be there for them when old age start wrecking havoc on them and thier health.

Just what type of nursing home do you think I will find for them? Or will I even give a rip? They ought to be very, very concerned about that and many others dilemas that will be comming thier way.

How does that scripture go......"Do unto others........." They better buy a clue.

What is so very twisted is that all of these companies will still allow obesity which is every bit as dangerous to your health as smoking is. It's OK to demonize smokers becuase there are not very many of them but try going after obese people and see what happens.

How soon will it be before businesses will be going transfat free. You can have a cheeseburger but you will have to eat it across the street.
