Wow-I didn't know.

i am shocked and saddened by the things that i have learned from this website and a few others i've seen.

my grandma was a witness and my mom started to study seriously when i was 8 yrs.

i was baptised at 13-way too young.

Welcome QE, Like you I had a good life, growing up as a JW. My mom taught me 'love thy neighbor' and 'all things in moderation' as fundamental and was not a radical JW. As long as I kept my thoughts light and close to the surface it was all hunky dory. With age and experiece I began to use critical thinking and BAMM the scales fell from my eyes and I saw it clear as day.....the Troof is not the truth.

Many here are bitter and with good reason. It is good to hear you are not angry or bitter but you do want reasonable answers to your questions. We all deserve the freedom to THINK and use our minds. The thought control within the WTBS is abusive and will take time to heal those wounds. This board has been very helpful in my recovery. The humor, thought provoking discussions and all the latest WTBS news will help you make it though your days.

my sister-in-law told me about this forum when i had questions and concerns about bible teachings from the organization.

i have never posted because i was scared of getting found out---that would have disastrous results.

Condescending Style of the book Keep Yourselves in God's Love

atlantis has posted a download link for the 2008 book release, "keep yourselves in god's love".

i read a page or so from the book, and the first thing i notices is the simple language used that sounds like it is written to be read by a little child who is in elemenatary school.. the styel if very condescending and actually is insulting as if the reader is expected to have a very low level of intelligence or reading ability.. what is going on?

why is bethel printing such material?.

Providing clear and simple material that everyone can read and understand is fine for a mass market paperback release. But when you consider that this type of publication is the only material approved by this organization it shows there is a 'mind control' intent behind it. These books have no appendix, reference pages or index.

The recent KM direction of 'do not use outside source material' is clearly a 'keep em dumb' intent. IMO

Kid's playing sports?

anyone keep their kids from playing sports because of the borg?.

when my son was 8 years old they had a t-ball league in the summer at the nearby park.

because of the borg training we told him he couldn't play t-ball.. that kind of thinking just carried on throughout his life from junior high through high school.

I don't believe in guilt but if I did I would have the biggest guilt complex ever. We have 4, count em FOUR children who NEVER participated in any school sports or activites. I feel awful about it and often apologize for my misguilded parenting. Our oldest son is a gifted athlete and very resentful over the way he was treated. He has forgiven us but not the WTBS. We began to fade in his senior year so allowed him to play soccor and went to every game. What a wonderful family togetherness experience for all of us to cheer him on and root for our team.

I encourage every parent to get their kids involved in sports or any and all school and after school activities. They need a well rounded education and social experiences to become successful adults.

My kids wore little suits and ties, perfectly combed hair and ea their own little bookbag....sigh.....what they needed was bats and balls, team logos shirts and dirty faces and fight songs.

These days when I see little kids in sport outfits I give them a High Five and a Go Team!

Cigars

...and so to the end of a great evening with new friends and a familiar lover.. my feet are up and the sounds of socal stillness punctuated by occasional dreams departing from lax.. is there more to life than friends, lovers, brandy and hand rolled cuban companions?.

Power of "Awake" article on Window Cleaning =Thousands of Witness Washer!

w.w.c {witness window cleaners} i was one for three years.

started from scratch, taught by another witness window cleaner...we had 4 in our hall.

i never knew why there were so many, till i found an awake article about employment which recommends geting a bucket and starting to clean windows!

Becoming a window washer is not the issue. It is the fact that Too Many JW's are window washers, carpet cleaners, janitors and lawn mowers. And too few JW's are engineers, doctors, CPA's, attorneys, teachers or professional business persons.

I have had my own janitorial service for more than 30 yrs and make a very comfortable living. Believe it or not, window washing pays well. I even enjoy the work. But I do not feel I work up to my potential. I should have gone to college for a degree in design. Teachers tried to push me to earn a schorship but I refused because I was a pioneer and ALL THAT CRAP! We all know the story.

My heart breaks for the young JW's today. So many have talents that are wasted. I know a young man, extremely talented artist, father is the PO so he will not go to art school. It is an absolute tragedy.

i've been reading this board for a while, but never posted, but now everything has changed and i have nowhere to go for suggestions- .

my witness husband (robert7) in december, the night before the assembly, told me that he isn't a witness anymore, doesn't want to be involved anymore, doesn't believe it.

of course, i'm a good witness, take the kids out in service a few days a week every week... very active in the cong.my first reaction was that "i cant love him if he doesn't love jehovah" and it really looked like we surely would get a divorce in jan/feb.

Dearest New Light, my heart goes out to you. In reading your story I experienced a relapse of sadness for my own lost friendships. I want to reassure you though, that Time really does help heal the wounds you are feeling. So many new friends here have offered great suggestions that will get you through this awful time.

My husband and I faded very quickly and successfully about 4yrs ago. We are not DF and most all of our 'in' family members will associate with us occationally. We did have several elder visits or 'shepherding calls' and each time we said VERY LITTLE. I think that is key, do not express any opinion or answer questions with 'I don't know' I am a cry baby and I think my tears intimidated the dudes. It was no act, I did have a little mental break down and they could see I was near the edge. I heard the rumor going around was that I had depression and in fact got several 'get well' cards, too funny!

These days when I run into JW's some speak to me and I do not avoid anyone. Just keep it short and sweet small talk and 'nice to see you, bye'

Sometimes I feel bursting to scream out 'You are ALL Nuckin Futs' then realize it would accomplish nothing. It is wrong to shun people for what they believe and I will not return their unloving treatment on them.

that's why is so fun coming here, we can dish the dirt among ourselves and flush away so much toxic waste.

Hello out there......is LowKey, er, Breck anywhere in the vicinity? He is the man to ask about scotch and cigars. I'd like to know what the fuss is about Cuban's? How are they different from a Dominican or others? I haven't much experience with cigars but those I have tried, really very enjoyable. The 'Men Only' clubs are a thing of the past. The ladies have acquired a taste for the finer things of life and we want a place at the bar.

how many of you suffer from back, neck, leg and knee pain or digestive problems, depression, anxiety or even other symptoms.

i read this book called " the mindbody connection by dr john e. sarnoand his other book call "healing back pain" and have just about healed my back pain.

after reading the book the first time my pain completely disappeared!

I absolutly believe in a 'mind / body' connection. Our body is a chemical factory. With every thought we produce chemicals that effect every cell in the body, be they benefical or toxic. Every experience is recorded on the brain so even the memory of an experiece will produce that chemical reaction again.

I had a painful health issue, Fibromyalgia, doctors told me it was 'all in my head'. Turns out they were right. I began to read about quantum physics and the mind/body connection. Depac Chopra, Adrew Weil, Peter Russell and many books on Chinese medicine helped me understand how to use my brain to heal my body. Meditation was a key. More recently 'The Secret' book on positive thinking was very helpful.

What's your favorite Beer or Ale?

Don't get me started on Beer and Ale's again....Please ! I get addicted and can not stop....yikes = Too Fattening

I once owned a Tee Shirt for trying 100 different beers at a local pub, back in my skinny days. These days if I do imbibe it's got to be a hoppy bitter ale. Our local micro brew house makes a Scothish Ale I only buy for St Patty's day.

My dad trained me on beer from infancy so it's all his fault.
