In the first 6mo after our last meeting, we had elders, family members and dubs come around about once a week. We never refused any visit. They would get around to the JW topic only after small talk and then we would just say, 'thank you so much for your concern, we appriciate you kindness'. That was it, not difficult. A few times an elder would be more direct or ask if we still considered ourselves JW. I would say, 'why do you ask' and if pushed 'my relationship with Jehovah is as strong as ever' or heres a good one 'I make it a matter of prayer'
I am not a expert in the area but I don't think they will DF just for not going to meetings. Only if you are 'causing divisions in the congergation' by speaking to one after another of your research and the 'truth about the Troof' would they have reason to form a judicial committee.
We have been able to maintain our relationships with family and even some JW friends. No one shuns us. Yes, when we run into a JW at Costco or resturants they are often cool but most still say 'hello' and not much else.
After a few months they give up and then you wonder if they ever cared at all. We have not had any 'visits' now for over a year.

I have lived her over 20yr but originally from SoCal. Every year I am still 'shocked' when the white flakes start to fly. It just does not seem natural.
so i'm talking to someone from my old hall and he tells me that there are some disgruntled jws (including elders) who feel like some bad decisions are being made by the rbc.. for instance, one hall needed a new roof.
an elder, in the construction business, made a deal with a local non-jw roofer that if the brothers cleared off the old shingles, the roofer would come in with his crew and do the new roof for x amount of dollars.
the rbc elder in charge got wind of that arrangement and nixed the deal.
I have to say.....you are all Right On....the RBC is a hugh Power Trip for the suits. It is a step up from their local power trip and most are addicted. Sad to say, my son is among the group. His current assignment is to interview all past, present and future volunteers. Each and every worker is to have a 'file' on them. Shades of CIA, FBI, Xfiles or worse....very scary.

i can only conjure up what seems interesting to me.. tell me what you want to know about such a personal experience.. that will give me a checklist to compare to what i've written already.. i may have missed many little details which are very important to a reader.. i may have neglected essential questions which must be answered in order to satisfy the mind.. please offer me your curiousity.. thanking you in advance; i appreciate your taking the time to advance my novel to the finish line.. (i wrote it as a fictional work because i could not honestly write about myself without the distance of this device.. so, i made myself into a character with a different name.. the identity of everyone else is non-fiction.
I will be looking forword to reading your work of 'fiction' for myself. In 1968 I was a young sister in So Cal. A brother was sentenced to prison for draft evasion and asked if I would write to him while incarcerated. I did agree but only on a brother / sister type basis. He began to write 'love' letters and preaching to me of our spiritual future toghter, like it was a done deal. His parents practically had us marrried the day he got out....yikes, I had to put a kabosh on it and they hate me to this day for dumping their boy.
sorry, I guess I should write my own book.

I live in Wa state and this was on our local news last night. A large slot of time was given to the story, including a shot of a KH and mention that JW's declined to comment. I hope this will give cause for our community to ask Q's when JW's come calling.
I am wondering why a 14yr old kid was under guardianship of an aunt? What was up with the parents, not JW's from what I can tell. I have seen where a 16yr old can be emancipated from a parent but not as young as 14.....hum, I have questions.

my wife thinks she overheard a couple of them talking about an announcement from the platform about avoiding the "golden compass" movie coming out.
i know that other religious groups have spoken out against this film, but i would not have expected the witnesses to announce that formally.

I clean an office where several of the staff are evangelical christian. Someone put out a memo that this movie was to be boycotted by all Chirstians. It was very stern warnings not to let you children see such blasphemy. I had not heard of the series of books but now I can't wait to read them and see the movie. WooHoo, sounds like a party to me.
Oh and at a circut assembly I have heard a CO be specific that JW's should not watch Star Wars films. He went on about the demonic storyline and likeness. Ya just gotta ask, how does he know about the storyline ??? hum....
ok, i know this has been talked about before, but now's a good time to bring this up again.
my wife (active witness) and i (inactive, haven't attended in over a year) just got memberships to the ymca today.
it's the only fitness place in town with a swimming pool.
10+ years ago.....as we were a Perfect WT family....we are in the janitorial business. One of our accounts was a YWCA administration office. A twice a wk, 1/2hr job. My husband was an elder and while he would not hold a membership, we felt dusting and emptying trash cans was OK with our conscience. We also had a single parent sister help us out on occasion. One elder became aware of our account and began to pressure us over the Young Womens 'Christian' Association, affiliation. We did the research and let him know we could not be 'threatened' with his opionion of what he considered association with False religion. However he approached the single sister and used the 'DFing offense' threat, got her to quit on us. She was a great asset to us, we paid her well and it was a win/win situation.
At the time we were devastated over this treatment by a so called 'brother' We did everything possible to show consideration by 'lovingly' showing our research, printing out WT articals such as the fact that assemblies have been held in YMCA buildings and baptisems performed in their pools. He was indignit, dug his heels in and 'marked' us. The elder body was split in their view of the matter so lots of gossip flew. We began to refer to it as the 'Y Fiasco' and it became just one more nail in the XJdub coffin.
when i was in the "false" i was determined to not let satan win by misleading me in any way.. now i am determined to not let them ( the evil wtbts) win by allowing the time i've lost keep me from really living what's left.
i consider that period of time to be a chapter of my life that i have to put behind me.
i started my bible study when i was only 21. i will be 50 in a few months and just got out in may of this year.. i will not let them win by ruining my life.. what about you?.
D E T E R M I N E D ! Yes, each day I determine to live well. It is the best revenge, turly. I gave 50+ yrs to them, I will live the next 50 with myself. They told me the world was evil and unworthy of life. I have learned the world is a source of joy and filled with life.
