I don't know much about dog behavior so I won't advise. I was just wondering if it is acceptable to refer to a Dachshund as a Weiner Dog? I do not have a dog because of time but I love this breed. I love all dogs really but cats need less care so we have 2 Siamese. They are very entertaining and also get attached to certain toys. Our younger girl carries practice golf balls around and hides them everywhere. She almost always has some toy in her mouth, sometimes for the 'kill' sometimes it seems she is nurturing it ??? who knows.

My Dachshund Dog is acting strange
by Undecided inmy wife bought a little rubber toy that makes a sound when you squeeze it.
it sort of looks like a small puppy.
normally my little dog will play with these toys, bite them and make them squeel, throw them around the floor, but this one is different to her.

No to beat the Un thing to death, but something stinks here....
by isnrblog ini still can't understand what they would have to gain by being a un ngo.
some say status and others say they could gain monitarily, things to be investigated.
the staus and influence theory does make some sense.

They did it because they could. They get a taste of being NYC Big Shots and could rationalize the 'library card' among themselves. Just as they make scriptures fit their doctine so they could say the UN as a higher authorityrity used by Jehovah.
They care nothing for the flock and underestimated what could happen if it came out. So when it did they did what they always do, cover up, no comment, blame the flock, blame apostates, and absolutly take NO responsibility.

Do Most Witnesses know about UN SCANDAL?
by Abandoned init seems to me that most witnesses still don't know about the un scandal.
since it has been such a useful tool in helping people see the truth about the lying duplicity of the watchtower, how can we get this message out to more in the organization?

I will never forget the day I opened the Awake mag and found an article endorsing the UN's efforts to help children and world peace. I literally dropped to my knees as I read. All WT literature stated, UN = Wild Beast = Satan. I really thought I must be misunderstanding and had to read it over and over. This was long before I even had the internet so I did ask a few friends their thoughts and everyone, to a man, said 'no big deal' The WTBS will use whatever means they need to further the preaching work. I personally didn't get it and now my curiousity was perked. When I did find the issue on the internet it answered all the questions and so began my leave.
As for 'do most JW's know about the UN issue' Not that many but I don't think it would matter to most. One poster here, Lenny, said he sent out 50 letters with all the information on the UN and got not one response. They are just not that interested, not curious, the JW culture is what they want = don't have to think for themselves the GB does all that hard stuff. They just follow and have a great bunch of friends to hang with. The social life of a JW is good clean and easy. Don't have to concern themselves with who the next president will be, heck, don't even have to buy a brithday card for anyone. Why would they want to know more about the UN. Wait on Jehovah and shut the F up. Sorry but that is my take on the matter.
We have one friend still 'in' who comes by now and then. We open the bottle of scotch and the talk begins. He askes everything from UN to cross to generations. He says lots of JW's questions these things as we did, including himself but they have too much invested, too many years, family and friends and no place else to go. So they stay and just push it all down into their guts. I did the same thing for years until my gut could not hold it any longer. I could not teach or preach these lies one more day.
Oompa, hang in there. I was also a muli generation witness. Never knew anything else so I have lost every friend and my entire social life. In return I gained self respect and the Truth about the Troof. ha ha ha humor gets me through the day.

Greetings Fellow Professional Janitor, Mr Flipper. My husband and I too have a very successful janitorial service for over 25yrs. Isn't it interesting how many here are or have been in the cleaning business. I wonder the % of posters here at JWD who work in our industry. That is the funny joke part...JW's and XJW's clean the world. I've always said 'our work will always be in demand, as long as things keep getting dirty'. And like you we don't mind being the butt of 'Janitor Jokes'
As a thrid generation witness I too married young, pioneered, worked nights cleaning greasey restaurants and doctors office toilets. And I have always enjoyed the work because my artistic side likes making things look good. I was often used as an example and praised as a fine christian women. We raised 4children and have a nice house. However we will have to work well past the adverage retirement age thanks to the WTBS advice not to store up things in this system....sheesh!
As others have pointed out, it is not that janitoral work is demeaning in any way, it is what it is, Good Clean Work....no pun intended
We always find it funny when we run into a client at a nice restaurant or upscale shop and they sometimes look shocked. As If! It is a good feeling to break the stereotypical mindset.
My regret is that I was never given the choice to use my talents in any other field. We do not really have to develope our minds for this type of work and that is just a waste. The WTBS took away my adventuous, artistic, curious, experience and I'm mad as HELL at them for it.

Not the best concert but I'll bet nobody can beat The Beatles / Hollywood Bowl 1964. Yep, that was me screaming and crying Paul P A U L I love youuuu!
Like I said NOT the best, couldn't hear a thing. Much later I graduated to the Stones and fell in love with Mick.
But The Best Showman is the BOSS, Bruce Springsteen. I have worshipped at the 'Church of Bruce' 4 times and going again next March. You come away filled with the Holy Spirit of Rock and Roll
Eric Clapton is awsome and moving in concert.
Pink Floyd, David Gilmore and Roger Water, together, seperate, they make my brain grow

Is There Something Specific That U Regret Not Doing Because You Were A JW?
by minimus indid you want to belong to a social club but couldn't because it was "worldly" and witnesses don't get involved with the world?.
did you not go to college simply because witnesses say it's bad?.
did you deprive your kids of things because you were a "good jw"?.

not my #1 regret, that list is LONG but in the top 10.....
I had very bad teeth as a child, mom said 'Jehovah will fix them in the NW......FF 45yrs....I got braces and became a very old posteri child for Adult Orthodontia. I had to have jaw surgery and wore the braces for 4yrs. If it were done when I was a child, no surgery and the braces worn a much shorter time.

Anyone else here with ADD/ADHD?
by proplog2 ini have had this problem all my life.
i have a child that also has it.
since people with adhd have a problem fitting into organizations do you think it may be one of the reasons why you just couldn't take the jw's any more.

I would agree that medication should not be the first course of action when dealing with a disorder. Many things have to be taken into consideration, physical and emotional.
As far as medical science, with research we could find as many professional who are pro medication as we would find con. Each child must be studied on an individual basis and treated accordingly. Sending out a blanket statement that all medication is useless is just not responsible.
I have known children who suffered with ADD to the point of self hatred. With medication they thrived and became find young adults. Low self esteem can be as detrimental as any other handycap.
I know first hand that ADD can be inherited and is a VERY REAL disorder. Medication alone is not enough, treatment should include teaching skill that compensate for the learning disability.
Parents must be very involved and do lots of research. In the end, if medication is called for, it can be a lifesaver.

um..... ADD or ADHD is not mental illness. It is a challenging learning disability for sure but not psyhotic.
Not to be too PC, but I sort of take offense to the Mental Illness reference. And don't anybody go to the Retarded Label, OK. my brother called me Retard and Moron, I got issues
