During my time spent here I have seen the best and worst sides of people. I have seen some very intelligent people getting lost in their own words and issues and ego , and I have seen messages being lost in personality and poster's name. I have seen people that may actually genuinely care about others and I have seen those with no agenda but their own.

It was really a pity to see you and DC get flogged for
presenting a different view from the one Alanf and JanH PROCLAIM
as dogma, and which many of their followers embraced by castigating the hell out of u both. Human factor indeed.
It's sad that you must leave because I've learned much from your
presence here, both your ideas and how u handled the treatment
you got here enlightened me. Of course witnessing your flare for creative expression was delightful too. Good luck with everything in this crazy thing we call life.

I think u REALLY captured their essences. Especially
You Know....Yeah, he's the guy u run into the street who's
always plastered-drunk or stoned out of his mind, mumbling
angerily and giving everyone the finger, with some drool
hanging from the corner of his mouth.

I don't know what to say because I'm so shocked by
the depth of tragedy in your life. I hope
that you are surviving well and have some happiness in
life. Your family sounds a lot like my family, really
dysfunctional. Of course my tradegy in life is in no
way as horrifying as yours. You have to be one incredibly
strong human being to be able to live with all that and
still manage to keep your sense of humor and laugh and
make us laugh with your posts. I'm not the hugging type, but I'll
extend a compassionate hug to you, from one human being to

Get a life - stop posting. Why?

newbies and others are often saying, "move on", in other words, get a life, remove yourselves from the influence of wtism completely.

there are many good answers to this, but i think there is one answer, which has not been much considered.

the international 'apostate' world, to which we contribute, has mushroomed in the last 10 years in: numbers, public profile, influence on the wts policies (and in jws awareness), and in all areas of knowledge about the wt.

Isn't that exactly what regular lurking or participation in this discussion board helps us achieve? How else can we strip ourselves fully of the "WTism" if not by confronting the many aspects of
our past existence as a JW? I had tried to deny or ignore this part of my life and my identity for several years, but it just would not go away and continued to cause all sort of problems for me. When I found this forum, I couldn't believe how many other ex-jws were out
there trying to cope with the damages of post-JW life and was shocked to learn how many have been devastated by this cult. Even more
astounding was learning about enormous corruption in the WTS, both in
doctrinal and conduct areas. Unless we educate ourselves about just
how dangerous our previous religion is we will continue to be in danger of falling victim to it again as well as other forms of mind-control or cults. So getting a life, a cult-safe one, is
precisely what regular posters and lurkers are doing. Obviously, the
ones that continue to post tend to be those that have been affected
deeply and devastated more by the cult, which is not at all or in any way something to be ashamed of. It doen't mean they are weak by nature
or stupid. It just means that they have deeper wounds,are not shy people and in a way are activists against their former oppressors.
They are the type of people that make things happen (brave and energetic) rather than
those who just sit back and never make a difference in the world.

Hello glode,

It's not only "all interesting" but lifesaving as well.
Face reality, you are a member of a cult living in a
dreamworld where you can remain a child forever by letting
others make most of the important decisions for you.
Or you can heed the warnings and valuable information
on this forum and break free from the Jw cult and start
living in the real world. Either way I wish you well.

I personaly think it is great sport to kick the crutches from under these emotionally crippled social outcasts but is it good? Some of these people have nothing else in
their lives apart from the “troof” and couldn’t function as normal human beings without it. (as is evident by the behaviour of some on this board)So why be cruel to them. Even
to my own brother. I wouldn’t try to tip him out, as it would devastate his family (although it would be an easy task).

I think that debating folks like You Know is extremely important. The agruments he makes are the ones lurkers who are considering
returning to the JW cult or joining it may share. So those that take it upon themselves to debate him are exposing all the lies and flawed logic in JW teachings for these potential victims. It is a shame that these brave and dedicated ex-jws have to run the risk of being slandered and verbally abused by the likes of You Know. Right before finding this forum I was in an emotional and psychological
hell and was even entertaining the thought of attending meetings again. The debates and presentations of research on this board have
completely saved me from making such a tragic mistake. So I respectfully disagree with you that the debating is unwise.
BTW, its nice to see you posting again.

i'm 30, a christain, i left the jws 3 years ago (after being in it for 21 years) to follow jesus and heard of, among other good things, this great thing called: grace!

I'm under D. I belief in a Creator but don't really see myself joining any religious group in the future. However, I fully respect others'
decision to join religious groups. I look at religions as vehicles for the moral education of the masses. They are unfortunately not
perfect social systems but all social systems aren't and have detrimental consequences. As far as I am concerned, I have already
graduated from one of the worst religious schooling in exsistence, Jehovah's Witnesses. Although I came out with some basic
moral values, being the cult that it is, I also came out emotionally, psychologically and intellectually damaged. But I have worked
earnestly to recover and am progressively improving in all three areas. I hope that you are enjoying similar success in combating
post-cult effects. This board has a treasure of helpful info., so I highly recommend it to you. Good Luck!

One only has to to study the history of christianity to see it for what it really is.

Hi Tina, you sound like a very knowledgeable individual,
and obviously college educated. I always enjoy reading your
posts. Did you come to this conclusion after taking courses
in college or from reading atheistic literature? Which
one was more influential? I'm curious because I've taken
Liberal Arts courses that have always presented religion,
including christianity, in a less negative light. Religions
have functions in society, which are not exclusively harmful
or mostly damaging. Also, can you clarify which conceptions of christianity you are referring to since there are many.
