a while back, there was a discussion about dfing and asking the elders to remove records of yourself ever having been a jw, publisher records, etc.
i responded that i didn?t believe there was a legal basis to force the records to be removed.
i can't find the thread and don't remember who started it....whoever you are, here's some interesting info for you!

since i am sort of late to the party this has probably been beaten to death and if it has just kick this thread to the curb.
i was 11 years old in 1975 and i remember being scared silly the whole year.
i mean there was so much hype about it and the tension in the air was so thick it was unreal.
My parents gave up everything in anticipation of 1975.
My Dad was in air-traffic control. He gave that up to go pioneering. Then my parents sold their house and rented one in Matlock, Derbyshire so's they could serve where the need was great until the end came.
Years later, when my Mum came across a person who'd left the JW's over the '75 business, she exclaimed "Oh! Are you another sevent-fiver then?"
She's gone full circle and now denies that '75 ever had any importance in her life.
Selective memory, I guess.

i noticed a few prefixes/suffixes/concepts keep popping up in people's nicknames on this site.
i wish i had all the subscriber names in a spreadsheet to play with it some more, but i just did a real cursory glance around and saw some interesting bits.
notice this:prefix to handlenumber of occurrencesfree (like in "freedomfrog")35rebel 5lost 12happy 17hate 0love 14. in additon, there were 4 variations of the phrase "had enough".

I'll refrain from writing multiple paragraghs.
I'd certainly be inclined to wait until such time as you've learned how to spell "paragraph", Sunshine.

I know I'm American, but I thought it was abomindable that the flag wasn't lowered immediately after Diana's death.
A lot of people felt like that. However, up until the time of Diana's death, a flag was only flown at Buckingham Palace when the Queen was home. Also, it's her own Royal Standard that's flown and not the Union Jack. This meant that there was no flag on the mast to lower.
This snippet appeared courtesy of the BBC after protests were made:
Buckingham Palace has announced that the Union flag will fly, for first time, at half-mast from Buckingham Palace during Princess of Wales' funeral. Normally the standard is flown whenever the Queen is in London. It is never flown at half-mast - symbolising the continuation of the monarchy.
The Queen has ordered the Royal Standard to be lowered from the Palace flagpole when she leaves to attend the funeral and the Union Flag will be flown at half-mast until midnight on Saturday. "This is a mark of respect for the Princess on the day of her funeral," said a Palace spokeswoman
