well our furnace was acting up monday night.
it wasn't staying on, which when it's positively freezing out, is not good.. my husband called a few different people and finally asked me if i would be ok if he called my brother?
see, my brother is a) a heating and cooling guy and b) the heating and cooling guy who put in our furnace a few years back.

It's such a shame THEY can't distinguish between their religion and real life and seperate the two and think with there hearts for a change. I'm so sorry. My Dad said the same kind of thing to me the other day so I know how it is when they say rubbish like that. They really can't see outside of the situation or anyone else's point of view.

i know everyone here thinks it's probably a waste of time for me to keep going to meetings cause i'm disfellowshipped.

he's a jw, but we are like brothers so he contacts me sometimes and it makes me feel a little better.

when i joined back in the mid 80's many in my congregation went to visit the bethel in brooklyn.. for some reason, i had no interest for that.. in the last years that i attended meetings, they didn't organize anything like that anymore.. i wonder why that changed?.
I've been to new york twice, the first time was a really short visit so I decided to spend my time shopping instead, the second time I went was for over a week so I didn't really have an excuse not to go especially as I was staying with some dubs, so I did a few tours one afternoon. Felt really sorry for the tour guide guy, he was a typical dub. Tried to have a laugh with him, coz I felt so sorry for him. But I think he had a sense of humour failure that day. Poor guy. Felt really guilty afterwards like I should do all the tours or something. (typical jw guilt trip).

historically, the bible is a secondary support for christians and jews.
i was raised roman catholic, and our tradition and practices included the bible, but it was not a key centerpiece of our faith.
the jewish side of my family likewise have a rich history of tradition and faith that is lived, and not pinned down to every word in the bible.

The gospel of Thomas is just a collection of Jesus' sayings - don't know if it is part of the catholic bible.
Wonder if anyone has put down the apostle's pauls sayings without the narrative.
