My Husband Cuts through the BS!
by 3dogs1husband ina long time ago my husband came up with this.. the wtbts holds out our hope like a carrot on the end of a stick, and we should be motivated to all ways want and try to get it.
if you change you mind in anyway and no longer want the carrot, or just wanna stand and eat the grass, you then will be beaten by the stick.. .

Welcome! Stick around, there's alot to learn here. Many of us were long-time JW's with a healthy knowledge of all aspects of the WT Society, and some here are still active but know the real truth.
Good to have you here.

Gay JWs - how did you deal with your Kool-Aid drinking relatives?
by bottleofwater injust wondering.
i'm gonna need that soon.
i'm talking about advice.

I agree, the JW's in the main hide behind the old addage "We hade the sin, not the sinner" - not my experience in the congregation at all
Mine neither. My eldest son is disfellowshipped for being gay. He's now treated by all his JW friends as if homosexuality is a contageous disease. However his JW grandparents (in their 80's, hard-liners) were so appalled at his treatment that they go against all the jw advice and welcome him with open arms.
Can't say this attitude happened overnight, it didn't. It took them at least 3 years before they softened their hearts and welcomed him normally (much to my surprise)
So when it comes to relatives, give them time to adjust and if they're good people they'll realise that being gay doesn't mean you've suddenly grown 2 heads. If they're not good people, then they'll remain hard-line JW's and the pride of the congregation.
Good luck

Being A JW Is FUN!!
by Pig insome people think that it must be miserable to be a jw because they dont celebrate christmas or birthdays.. but they're wrong!
being a jw is miserable because you cant do fucking anything.. crazy hair day - this was a fundraising day where kids come to school with blue or red died hair and give a $2 donation.
i wasnt allowed to do this because it was too worldly to have "crazy hair" and it would be too hard to wash it out for tomorrow nights meeting.. school camp - this was unnessisary association with those devil worshipping 9 year olds.

But i can make sure to not give the JW's one more second of my life.
Amen to that.

Hi Cantleave
I know your comment on this thread is a while back but your CO Charlie Scurlock brought back memories. Couldn't stand the man. My son had just been disassociated for being gay. On his visit we had a shepherding call from him and another elder. Charlie had obviously had a big lunch and got comfy on the sofa where he had difficulty keeping his eyes open. He didn't say much, just that there's now a good chance that my son will contract HIV which will make him assess his life and come back in the truth, apparently he had seen this happen before.
Failing that, if my son died of AIDS, he'll get a resurrection. Damn it! I so wished I'd thrown him out on his arse, but I was a compliant little sister and just nodded.

Some christmas spirit, WT style!
by bohm inwell, i know its a bit self-serving since i allready posted this in jwfacts thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/199939/1/watchtower-images-required, but i think its quite funny and things have been kind of serious around here for the past couple of weeks.. it seem to me that when jahs chanel have desided (im kidding, they has been told) the one and true god really hate christmas and will kill you in nasty ways if you go ahead and celebrate it, it provide a pretty compelling case for not celebrating christmas.
but the governing body can make an even stronger case than that: not only will jesus cry and clice you up if you celebrate christmas, you will also have a really bad time.
wow!.

Celebrating wedding anniversaries also wasn't part of Jewish culture - is this banned too? Since when did the Christian have to model himself on Jewish culture?

You can't equate distribution with readership. Sure the mags are distributed widely, doesn't mean anyone reads 'em. Ray Franz mentions this anomoly. He says that the vast printing and distribution machine that is the Watchtower Society needs an outlet for all its literature, so the distribution is huge. However they're speaking into the air because the actual readership of the mags is very low, not even many of the brothers actually bother reading the mags anymore.

"There's really no good reason why we should turn our time in late"
by Crisis of Conscience inanother wonderful part this week at the meeting.
and this is what the brother said.. he related examples, based on the om book, as to how jehovah kept records.
funny part is, they all applied to population, the amount of people.. is there any part of the bible that talks about how jehovah kept a log of hours on some occasion?

My PO once asked me for my report and I said I haven't got anything to write down. He said you must have something - anything, an hour talking to the kids? an informal chat with someone? I said no. He said, "I'll put you down for something anyway".
Anything to keep the record looking good for the CO.
