Two words jumped out at me as I read your last post. They were; "little old lady" and "the fatty".
I think your choice of words in describing these two people say more about you and your own prejudices than anything else you've written.
today, at a park restaurant, this old lady saw a young fat lady walking past and started making fun of her with her friends.
the fat young lady saw this and i could see the look of hurt on her face.
i couldn't help myself, i got up went to the old lady and told her she was being hurtful and childish considering her age, and she should grow up!

name everything that you can think of, that normal people can do, but jw's aren't allowed to do.. and if it's a conscience matter, write it down anyways.. .
i'll start.
jw's aren't allowed to vote..
Join or support greenpeace, YMCA, christian charities etc. Go to a jumble sale at a church, Say "crikey" (steve irwin style) on the platform.
where to begin????
how many times a week would you meet together?
why would you meet together?
For God's sake get some live music in there, and not some 5 piece sqeaky clean band singing kingdom dirges either. I want something upbeat and powerful!
I know! How about Faithless!
my parents (jw's) have 4 small grandchildren between the ages of 5 and 8. they recently went on a trip and brought back presents for 3 of the kids but left out one because they "didn't have time to find anything".
my sister was very upset and refused to accept the present for her daughter if they had nothing for her son.
my parents thought she was making a big deal out of nothing and since gifts are voluntary, technically, they don't have to buy them for any of the kids and can do so as they choose.
Well done to your sister for refusing the present! I wish I had the presence of mind to do that 10 years ago.
A wealthy brother took all the teenage boys in my cong for a trip to his second home in the Scottish Highlands. He took my eldest son but not my second eldest. As it turned out, my second eldest was the only teenager in the whole cong left behind and it had a profound affect on him. From that point on he just didn't feel he was good enough for the witnesses no matter how hard he tried. Then began the self harming and the deep depression of a teenager in pain. I really feared he was suicidal at times.
Looking back I so desperately wish I had stopped my eldest going on that trip too. If his younger brother couldn't go, then neither should he have done. But I was just too damn polite to say anything.
He's fine now, but he has never forgotten how that incident made him feel and still has residues of low self esteem now and then.
So give your sister a huge pat on the back, she did 100% exactly the right thing in refusing that present. I admire her courage to protect her child from the thoughtless actions of inconsiderate adults.
i ask this because i had a strange experience this week.
for a brief bit of background knowledge i'm being shunned like most on here, but i see witnesses every day in my place of work and at the school gate, there's no avoiding them, and like many of you, i've found it really hard to get over the hurt and heartache this has caused.. yesterday my mum (an active witness) went into hospital to have a tumor removed (successfully) as i'm the only daughter nearby to help, the other witnesses were asking the elders what they were supposed to do if they wanted to visit my mum and i was at her bedside, should they talk to me or turn round and go out again.. one elder said to do that would be utterly ridiculous, of course i should be spoken to.
he was very annoyed even at the suggestion.
Thanks for all your responses. I have an update.
Today at the school gate I was hoping that the attitude of the sisters might have softened after the words of this elder and them all knowing that my mum is in hospital. Instead they literally turned their back on me as I walked past. Particularly hurtful and disappointing as I'm feeling a bit vulnerable today (mum having alot of pain)
The good thing was my dad (an active witness) is absolutely furious with them all. He is ready to "have words" with these sisters and is coming with me to support me at the school tomorrow. He's also going to phone the elder back and explain what these "loving" sisters did. Can't believe my dad is on my side in this as he's been pretty harsh too.
To be honest, if the behaviour of these sisters makes my dad and this elder rethink the truth about the "truth, then it'll be worth all the heartache and tears the sisters have caused me.
Being so publicly shunned has had its advantages. Its been such a bad witness to so many people that I reckon they're gonna get told to take a hike at a few more doors. Maybe, just maybe all this will show up just what this "loving" organization is all about to kind hearted ones within.
V, every time I see one of your videos I am reminded of how right I was to walk away. Thanks bud
i have let my wife know many times that it is me that has changed not her...and i know it has been very hard on her and not really fair.
but now on the rare occasion i mention something like why the hey would god ever let these earthquakes occur, and what in the heck does that have to do with universal sovereignty, and what an unbalance puishment thousands of years of death is for two people eating a fruit.....she will stand....pace....sound defiant...more like a drill instructor than a wife or dub...and just rattles off the indoctrinazation....scary..i could feel the icepick through my ribs.....this is a new development...and i wonder if the elders are "strengthening" her.
btw....god kills them in earthquakes so they will know they should be serving him???
Hi oompa
Isnt that the dual personality of a cultist you're seeing? Steve Hassan in "combatting cult mind control" talks about this. There's a distinct personality change once you're discussing religion, very different from when you're talking about everyday stuff. I see it in my dad alot. The defences go up and the shutters down and he takes on a real hard exterior which no amount of talking gets through.
I just try and keep him on normal talk as much as possible Good luck with the missus.
"who is wise and understanding among you?".
"who is wise and understanding among you?
let him show out of his fine conduct his works with a mildness that belongs to wisdom.".
Thanks Blondie
I loved this reply too
imperfect--term the WTS uses to excuse the serious flaws of elders and the organization. But imperfection is not a loophole for organizations other than the WTS.
Summed their double standards and hypocrisy up beautifully - well done

One elder said to do that would be utterly ridiculous, of course I should be spoken to. He was very annoyed even at the suggestion. He made it quite clear that he thought the Society had this shunning business all wrong and they'd have to change it before long.
Not only was it refreshing to hear someone I regarded as a good friend say this, but it struck me that there must be a lot of dissent simmering under the surface. This elder is well liked and respected and he'll be listened to, at least by a few.
Anyone else had recent experience of elders bucking the system?
i often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).
a couple of cats i wonder about - there was one brother who i believe was from kansas, who got his fingers cut off in a printing press.
Anybody here from the UK remember Shaun Mansbridge from London Bethel?
