yesterday's meeting was rough.
i admit i intentionally waited till my mom was gone, then sat in my bathrobe and played super star wars on my wii for about a half hour before finally getting dressed for the meeting.
it was fun.
sd-7 well done for going careful and not raising mom's defenses. Don't be afraid of the elders, they're nothing. You are in control of your life, not them. Don't give them any more control than you want them to have. As Jamie suggested, use any legitimate excuse to get out of seeing them.
When the elders wanted a word with me, I said I'm not ready to speak yet and I wanted to be left alone, I said if I felt I needed their assistance, I'll let them know. After that they backed off.

That alone is reason enough. This young person has their life back thanks to the accurate information they found online. Whats being done on these sites is absolutely life-saving and worth every effort. I recently had a young bible study who thanked me for directing them to AJWRB. After he read that site and asked some pertinent questions of his study conductor he stopped his study. He's now read much more about JW's and feels he had a very narrow escape with a cult.
The louder and more focussed our collective voice is, the more people will wake up - and thats gotta be a good thing.

I can never understand why I am shunned and my husband isn't. He was baptized for 13 years and walked away telling the elders it was a load of shite and he's not coming anymore. He now thinks all religion is baloney and professes no faith at all.
I however DA'd but I still have a strong faith in the bible and try to live as a christian. I am shunned every day like a pariah whilst my husband is greeted normally. Sometimes we're out together and he's spoken to by witnesses while I'm standing next to him

How many really fat brothers and sisters do you know? I know loads that have put on weight over the years and would now be classed as obese. I'm not talking about the occassional medical cause either but just through stuffing your face too much. Would this be classed as a filthy habit detrimental to your health?

I was shocked at how ignorant they were and even though I was young and believed it was the troof, I said something to the effect of "are you always this rude or are you just having a bad day?" The CO was furious that someone like me----young, female and blonde to boot----would dare say something like that to someone of his status, but I didn't care. I was really upset at how unappreciative they were.

I hate it when I see certain ones so intmidated by the title of CO that they put up with bad bahaviour. We wouldn't tolerate it from anyone else, why the hell should they get away with it?

The only CO I really liked was Richard Cullen. He was a down to earth guy who openly hated the pictures in the Rev book and wasn't afraid to say so. He had time for the kids too which I always appreciated. Great speaker too.
The loony one was Charlie Scurlock. He was so field service orientated that meetups were scheduled for 8.45am so we could all start at 9. (how the hell am I supposed to get kids to school and be there for that time?)
Then it was door after door after door until 12 - lunch - then out again for RV's till 4. I tell ya, the bloke was a machine, nobody wanted to work with him. We all reckoned he took Matt 24 v 14 as a personal challenge.
