Taking predictions for the 2007 memorial partakers!!
by cultswatter ini'm doing this well in advance so that all the wonderful people on jwd can look back later and see just how close they were to the actual number!
(it is possible the wts might stop publishing the partaker numbers) in a few days, i will duly record the link to this thread for future reference.. remember that there were 8524 partakers in 2005 and 8758 partakers in 2006, an increase of 234 partakers.
so how many remnant will partake in 2007??.

Yes Amber, it is quick. However, I know that when you find a someone who meets your "everything I would like in a mate" list - I have learned not to just watch her walk away for someone else to snag. At the very least I considered the possibilities of the future, and "went down the hall of consequences" as an elder in my hall says.
I will definitely take your advice on having a long discussion about her spiritual goals (mostly listening). This sunday she is visiting my hall, I hope to have her over for supper. Perhaps I will have an update after that. -

The brother didn't follow through on my application of his comments, but it certainly seemed like he wanted to.

Hey all, here is a dillema that I am facing:
I have been trying to figure out whether I feel that this religion is true enough for me to remain in it. We must admit that there are some good things in the JW religion. However, there are many hypocricies and other problems that plague JWs and other religions too. I am leaning toward getting the hell out of Dodge.
This weekend at the Circuit Assembly, I met an unbaptised sister. We will call her "Sierra". She blew me away, I have met no one else who has made me feel like she did. Also, her friend (who got baptised this weekend) said that Sierra likes me. I get the sinking feeling that she will soon get baptised and probably remain one of JWs. On the other hand, by the fact that she has not gotten baptised yet (and is of age to do so) seems to say that she is not jumping on the boat.
So my internal struggle is whether I should stick around for her. If Sierra does want to remain a JW and I don't, then marriage would be next to impossible. I would be willing to stay for her, but it would be a hard life to live. If she does not want to be a JW, then things would be great. However, it is impossible to ask without suffering the chance of loss. To lose her would be hard. I haven't posted my story yet, but let me say that my timing is always bad. I have had many heartaches.

I just went to the circuit assembly (from here out: CA). I am a pioneer, thus I get the added priviledge of going to the Friday Pio meeting. This meeting was much more entertaining than the actual CA. Here are some highlights:
One brother made an odd but stunningly true statement. While talking about elders being imperfect, he mentioned about not getting upset with these "gifts in men". He put it this way: "What did the momma whale say to the baby whale? When you go to the top and blow off steam, that is when you will most likely get harpooned." So true! When you tell the elders that they did a crapshoot job of following the course of wisdom, usually you walk away with a harpoon in your back.
Another brother made a humorous mistake. He was discussing Matt 22:23-28 for some reason or other. He was saying how each of the seven brothers die one after the other. He did not want to say it that way, so instead he wanted to say successively. However, he said "successfully", which is kind of funny. "so each of the brothers died successfully." Ah the wonders of the english language. (we all laughed, and he did not get the joke) -

According to the evidence presented, you got 3.24 Gb of memory.
I would inquire of the store before 30 days is up.
show them (perhaps a screen shot) why you believe they have not given what they said. -

I have twice had a gun pulled on me. Both times I simply said I was sorry to have offended them and left.
An old man one time came to the door with nothing on. (I later found out that he does this every time someone comes to his door. Information that would have been useful!)
A child on the third story of an apartment building told me he was going to hit me with water balloons. I said ok since it was really hot outside. He threw a couple and missed entirely. To save face he said "Quit moving." - I hadn't moved.
I had a man escort me to my car, face to face screaming profanity.
A brother in my hall had a video from when he went to Equador. At one door the woman of the house dumped the chamber pot on them, out the window while they were knocking. [gag] Why wasn't I moved to go where the need is greater??? -

I remember seeing a thread on stories that get forwarded around by JWs.
I just got one and I cant imagine that it is true:
God and the Spider
During World War II, the persecution had been intense. Alone in the jungle, a brother could hear the soldiers coming in his Direction. Scrambling for cover, he found his way up a high ridge to several small caves in the rock. Quickly he crawled inside one of the caves. Although safe for the moment, he realized that once the soldiers looking for him swept up the ridge, they would quickly search all the caves and he would be killed.
As he waited, he prayed, asking Jehovah, if it be your will, please protect me. Whatever your will though, I love you and trust you. After praying, he lay quietly listening to the enemy begin to draw close. He thought he saw a spider begin to build a web over the front of his cave. As he watched, listening to the enemy searching for him all the while, the spider layered strand after strand of web across the opening of the cave.
"Hah, he thought. "What I need is a brick wall and what Jehovah has sent me is a spider web. Jehovah does have a sense of humor." As the enemy drew closer he watched from the darkness of his hideout and could see them searching one cave after another. As they came to his, he got ready to make his last stand. To his amazement, however, after glancing in the direction of his cave, they moved on. Suddenly, he realized that with the spider web over the entrance, his cave looked as if no one had entered for quite a while.
"Jehovah, forgive me," prayed the young man. "I had forgotten that in you a spider's web is stronger than a brick wall." We all face times of great trouble. When we do, it is so easy to Forget what Jehovah can work in our lives, sometimes in the most surprising ways. And remember with Jehovah, a mere spider's web becomes a brick wall of protection. -
