JUST FOR FUN: Pranks you've played (computer or other)

so the post from firenbandits http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/134960/1.ashx and the subsequent story reply had me thinking this would be a fun thread.. to start, i've copied a couple of the replies that were on that thread that had me dying laughing....and then one of my own.

what's the greatest prank you pulled or you seen pulled on someone (or pulled on you?)...

Snakes, you are bad.

Another time the VPs kid left his computer unlocked we installed VPN (virtual private networking) which allows another user to remotely control the computer. Lots of fun!

One time my brother was visiting, we will call him Bob.
Bob brought along a couple other brothers too.
I had made the beds earlier in the day and short sheeted the bed that Bob was to be sleeping in (it was his old bed from when he used to live there).
So when they arrive, we realized something, one of the other brothers was taller than Bob.
Bob's old bed was longer than the other beds, therefore the tallest took the longest bed (to my horror!)
There is something about first impressions... that brother still gives me a weird look.

my grandnephew is visitng and i left the computer on, and also on this web-site.

i apologize for the pornographic photo that was briefly up as my icon, thanks to said grandnephew.

he thought it was a real scream.

At work we have a little "game"... If we notice that someone walked away from their desk and left their computer unlocked, we sneak over and start sending "interesting" emails to other people.

Loads of fun and helps ensure everyone locks their console before getting up.

(To lock your console, just press[Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Delete] and then select "Lock Workstation". Takes two seconds and saves you loads of problems.)

one time at my old work place, there was a VPs kid who did nothing. He constantly would forget to lock his workstation.

So we were always pulling pranks on him. Once we changed his mouse to a left handed mouse.

Another time a co-worker took a screen shot of his desktop and set it as the desktop picture. then he moved all of the icons to the edge of the screen. It was the funniest thing I have ever experienced at work. (except for translated korean emails)
He sat there for a long time not saying anything, just trying to get the programs to work. He kept double clicking and nothing happened.
He was trying to run some software like napster, so he didn't want to ask us for help. He didn't want to get in trouble.

Lurkers! How do you put up with it?

i just cannot understand how any one in their right mind can read the experiences here concerning the wachtower society's false claims, lies, trickery and deceit, and the example shown by the so-called "elders" in treating the flock with disdain and cruelty, and still stay a jehovah's witness.. lurkers, how can you do that?

do you simply dismiss all the evidence?

have any of you experienced such evil acts personally and still stay connected to the jw's?.

Perhaps they don't "put up with it".
In my case, I am showing endurance until the time comes when I can safely leave.
Some might be hanging around to save family, friends, or their spouse.

Dont get me wrong, there is a mountain of evidence.
Just some of us cant move until the timing is better.

the situation: a friend of mine was df'ed recently.

i live with my mom, who is still active.. my mom told me that this friend couldn't come around anymore now.. i said that i had already figured that out, because she would be dfed if she kept contact with him, so she could do nothing else but follow the rules of the borg.. she responded that this was not so, that this was her personal choice ('out of love') :s. just to be sure.. we all know this is crap, right?

You forget Eclipse that the scripture you quote is downplayed by the WTBS.
Namely, John 8:1-11
If you look in the New World Translation, they put it at the bottom of the page with the citation that some manuscripts omit these scriptures.
Therefore, most JW will not put too much weight in them.

Why are congregations dissolved?

only once in my life have i heard of a congregation being dissolved (closed down) for reasons of sin.. .

has anyone here heard of congs being closed down?

how often does it happen?

I had a CO one time who was "the hammer" of the WTS.
He was sent to the circuits with problems to either straighten them out or disband congs.
At the end of his 3 year visit there was one less congregation in our area.
the rumors said that the reason was the elder body in the former congregation would not follow WTS protocol and did how ever they deemed fit.

as an unabashed star trek fan i find all the references to the witnesses as "the borg" on this site really charming.

when coming up with my name i just thought "what is anti-borg?

i would like everyone to have at least one long held dream or ambition come true.

1.) Bill Gates dies and leaves me as the sole heir
2.) I have the ability to time travel
3.) I find out I am from a planet known as Krypton. With all the powers to boot.

i forgot about this!

in the early 70's at bethel, knorr spoke down at breakfast commented about a brooklyn heights news article then about jws, complaining that jws were taking over brooklyn heights.

he chuckled saying, "we are not only just taking over brooklyn heights, but over the whole world!
