LOVE, ALTRUISM & EVOLUTION

i'm an evolutionist.

one cannot argue that evolution isn't a fact.

however, i'd be interested in the better informed amongst us here explaining in simple terms how the feeling of love evolved.

TP: I'm not picking on you particularly RAF but the words "gives you the feeling that you are usefull" make me question whether this is altruism or not. I really wonder about what really motivates people. Is it their desire to help others as a sole motive or is there an ego-based need that is asking to be filled. Do we help others, express love, show affection, etc. for the other or is it because it makes us feel better about us?

Ego can help (but who cares when it helps) it'sabout being a solution (you can / you do : and it satisfies you) Now if any ask for his/her name to be in the dictionnary for that (for instance) well I guess it's ego based and of course have nothing to do with altruisme but Egotisme.

There are some situation I just do not react ... just because I know I can't offer the solution espected or needed or I'm just not able to.

(since I'm willing to joke about that) : the swin from what I came from ... LOL ... (why not after all - since scientists can state whatever with no links from other kind evolutions) feel that love is alchimic (when the two or more are in love it gives a need to stay connected in a way or an other even just by knowing or feeling it - true love don't even really need physical attachement - nobody is somebody else's property - and love can't be a jail) but altruisme is rational reaction (depending on our state of mind) you can do something to help someone you just do it (even if you don't know them / will never see them again / won't get anything from them) just because it's cool and gives you the feeling that you are usefull and can bring something into other peoples life. Eddited to add ... some people even don't care dying for that ... just because it's important for them to usefull in the matter they are willing to act on.

Why I Came Back

it's been a long, long time since i've posted on any of the boards.

partially, i had gotten out and busy.

this board was indispensable and helped me leave the organization with a lot of confidence in what i was doing.. but, it's not all completely over.

It won't be the end of the world ... but what a change ... How many losses? ...
Since we won't agree (all countries and citizens to really care about this for our imediat confort) we will have to face IT ... Also less soil available = More WARS (differents kinds for differents things) ... I guess we may learn for good from that ...

first of all, i'd like to sincerely thank all of you who responded to (and called me, and p/m'd me) about my recent thread (read: blind raging rant).. i've had more time to think about why i reacted, and felt, the way i did, and i've talked to my closest friends, and i chose to start this separate thread because what i felt has more to do with jw/exjw/christian upbringing than the particular circumstances in which my rage was induced.. simply: my rage was because a raw nerve had been touched, a nerve that i thought i had long since healed---the feeling that nothing i do is ever good enough!!.

i remember that feeling as a jw: now a publisher, but, that's not good enough...you must put in more time.

now a vacation pioneer, but, that's not good enough...you must now become a regular pioneer.

Oh and to me a good carpenter just can't be lowly ... the exchange Market can crash he will still be able to build his own log house and everything needed in it for him and others (since there are wood left of course) who wouldn't exchange something they can give you for this service?

... ... Hortensia : I write lots of letters I don't send, it allows me to vent and to organize my thoughts, and quite often I am satisfied with understanding my feelings and expressing them and I don't have to engage in pointless debate with someone who isn't going to be able to hear me, anyway

MMD : You're not the bad guy per se. In your analogy above, you didn't see that there's another way. Did you? Does that make you wrong or right? I know that you wanted Journey to see your way, but she/he is doing his/her way.
