  Is Faith Dangerous? A Question for Believers...

  i hope this will be as respectful a debate as possible.

  here is the premise: many of us (most) seem to be ex jw's on this board.

  that means, whatever your motivation, for a time you bought into the theology of jw to one degree or another.

  Narkissos : To me, the dangeror benefit of faith (which both exist) are independent from its being right or wrong (sorry to repeat myself).

  Thanks for repeating because it helps : what is More Important (is the key)
  that's why Christ's reasonning is bases onNO LAWS ... because it will always depends on the situation.

  Sometimes someting good might be bad (regarding to the circumptances - like for instance getting on everydody's nerve about not doing this or that when it does nothing bad to others), something bad may lead to something good (at least make us think about the fact that it was bad).

  So my point is :
  Faith is more related to what we believe in being more important it's was motivate us to get what is important.
  If you believe in God/Christ and do not agree with his wisdom / the faith is very limited and the reaction can be only related to fear, and from that (fear) any false prophet or bad politician will lead you to do some thing that might not really help but instead lead to worst (so of course faith can be very dangerous - it depends on what your faith rely on)

  RAF, I apologize if I didn't understand your point. I do respect your right to belief, just asking for reasons for your faith, if you care to share. If not, that is fine, and I had no intent to ridicule your right to faith.

  It's ok ... I guess I didn't answer the question again (sorry) ...
  
  but sometimes I'm not answering the question because the answer is not in the question ... to resume my point of view :

  Faith is about Confidence (In God = Whatever he is and according to the bible Everything) the God we are talking about is the the Word/Christ (wisdom related again sorry to repeat myself on the matter : Charity including forgiveness and being able to forget about our Ego when needed).

  From that some may think it's important to know if we will have salvation or not ... but it shouldn't really be important in the equation. The Real question is : How do you want to be treated and from that what are you agreing with in being the most important for everybody because you'll never be alone. so : From what your spirit want to be leaded? it's the original question.
  
  Example in the bible stories (totally true or not) : Some angel didn't have faith (they knew God does Exist) No they wanted to have fun (egoiste) - The Jews who have seen many miracles from God so they believed in hisexistence but they didn't have faith in the fact that his wisdom (Christ - but not yet called that way) is the solution (they had to deal with laws). And this nation in being aware from the very begining of what his wisdome will bring didn't recognise him (the Christ) - What did they want exactly? ... I guess they feel better believing that whatever was proposed yet was good enough ... So

  What's the next BIG thing?

  history is punctuated by events that have a permanence, an effect on the direction we move in.

  the 20th century was marked - among other things - by it's world wars and moon landings.

  so far in the 21st century we have 9/11 and, i'd say, an explosive leap forward in biological knowledge.. so what's the next big thing?

  What's the next BIG thing?

  People will realise that we give too much importance to religion (it's on its way) ... some will rely more on politic, tehchnologie, strategy (it won't really help either) ... till we finally most understand that we can only rely on Charity (to be ok with everybody).

  Eph 6:15 Does this mean we have to preach to be protected?

  our speaker who gave the public talk used this scripture to indicate that unless we have a good habit of preaching then we are not keeping our spiritual armor in good shape.

  i'm wondering if there is a better, logical explanation for that verse?

  would anyone know of any?

  The wages of sin

  i had a heavy thought the other day in a discussion with some friends.

  the question was this.

  if the wages of sin is death for humans then why do animals die ?

  To resume :

  We are in the same systems (the kids, the animals)
  according to the bible to me this life is a demonstration (not really a test - as God/Christ is supposed to know already) otherwise anyone would be able to say No I'm not like that (prove it to me) so it doesn't work like that.

  About animals they're ways are a part of the demonstration about how they can do worst or better than human. We learned a lot from them (good and bad) in knowing that they only use their instinct and primal and sometimes very efficient inteligence in some matter.

  Can't stop hating....

  my parents became jw's in the early 60's just before i was born.

  i was raised as a jw but hated everything about it from a very early age.

  going door to door was the worst growing up.

  I guess you'll have more benefit to vent (to get your bad feelings out) than hating anything ...
  it's good to not forget (reminders for yourself and others) but it's also good to forgive (hating only pisse yourself off)

  guilt feelings sometimes

  i was raised as a jw from the age of 4, my father was an elder for 18 years, was a auxillary pioneer for years, been there done all that and decided to leave at age 30, i have chosen a pagan path and am very happy but sometimes i feel guilty for no reason, does anyone else ever have this problem?

  if you do, how do you handle it?

  ok to be more precise faith (the religious one - and actually even not religious one) is not totally related to the fact that we believe in God ... it's a matter of confidenceyou believe that some things can really lead to something better (religiously as christian / Christ's doctrine about how to treat each other and ourselves) ... I don't really feel the need to go further than that ...

  As for the reward I don't really care ... I am what I am, I have the feeling that I have and I'm not gonna be hypocrite about it (since I don't feel that I'm a monster, I feel ok with myself and think that God who knows me, know that I'm doing my best relatively to what I am and my spiritual state, even in not being perfect).

  Anyway I'm not searching for perfection about myself I more looking for understanding ... you can yell on me /treat me like shit wathever like, if I understand your why everything will still be ok ... you can be nice to me but if I feel that you are hypocrite (well ... it's a standbye).
