I do recall that in the 80's it seemed for a while that every WT study was about anti-types / types. It was grueling and confusing and hard to swallow even though I was in hook line and sinker.

Antitypes / Greater fulfillments - Where does this concept come from? Is there a biblical basis for it?
by Psychotic Parrot ini've been discussing this recently with my dub family & would like some more information on the subject as i'm not all that well informed on it at present.
i'm not a believer in the divinity of the bible, but i do respect those who feel that bible helps them in their lives.
however, those who claim that certain ancient prophecies will have a greater / larger fulfillment in modern times puzzle me.

Can someone explain this?
by UnConfused ini decided to fly to visit a friend on the board.. small airport.. called and there were seats available.. got to the airport and was not allowed to buy a ticket because it was "too late" to do so.. the plane hadn't even arrived from it's previous flight so it was going to be a while.. the fellow wasn't sure why the computer wouldn't let him sell a ticket and sighted security.. but when i pointed out that didn't make sense because whether i bought a ticket now or a week ago they were going to check my baggage.. he agreed.. i left, frustrated..

Something I've always wondered
by MrFreeze ini'm sure you've heard married witnesses say things like "i wish i had stayed single longer.
" usually they say that in reference to "serving jehovah more fully".
if you are a wife or a child of someone who has ever said that, how does that make you feel?

It's a weird thing for someone to say if married and/or has children.

Biggest Reason For My Leaving....
by Fester ini wanted to share with everyone, why i left religion all together, in favor of thinking for myself, and believing in myself.. in the bible, there are of course several accounts which i consider to be barbaric and gruesome.
i also consider the worst accounts to be inhumane.
if the bible god is consistent in one thing, it is the continuing theme of inflicting torture and torment on humanity.

Weird Prayer at Last Year's DC - GB Worship
by LostGeneration inat the last dc i will ever attend in 09' some elder was called up to do the morning prayer.
i dont recall him being introduced as a co or anything thats why i say elder.. he starts off slowly and 20 seconds in i realize this is his moment of glory, giving a prayer at the dc and he is going to take his sweet time.
i know the closing prayers are like at least 5 or 10 minutes, but this guy is going to kick off the morning with a long rambling diatribe..... so part way in he gets to the "slave" and he starts naming them off one by one.....ya know thanks for splane, pierce, barr, loesch....so on and so on....til he gets through them all.

I decided to fly to visit a friend on the board.
Small airport.
Called and there were seats available.
Got to the airport and was not allowed to buy a ticket because it was "too late" to do so.
The plane hadn't even arrived from it's previous flight so it was going to be a while.
The fellow wasn't sure why the computer wouldn't let him sell a ticket and sighted security.
But when I pointed out that didn't make sense because whether I bought a ticket now or a week ago they were going to check my baggage.
He agreed.
I left, frustrated.

Holy Spirit and Governing Body voting
by Think About It inhow in the world can a religious organization that claims to be god's true channel on earth and led my his holy spirit have a majority of it's gb members vote yes on something, but it not pass because 2/3's didn't vote yes?
why would these supposely "spirit annointed" leaders of the "only true religion" not all be lead by holy spirit to pass an important mandate or change?
in coc ray franz talks of jw life affecting voting not passing because although it was a majority, it wasn't 2/3's or a gb member was gone during the vote.
