Of course I was better than everyone else! I was special. I was going to live forever and all these wordly people were going to get what's coming to them! At least that's what I felt at times when I was "persecuted" in school for not only being a religious weirdo, but also a bit of a nerd.
A Jerk? Eh, maybe a bit of a passive agressive sort of jerk at times.
A know-it-all? The only thing worse than a nerd is a nerd with a cause. Maybe not quite that bad, but yes.

Do those of you "born into the truth" have problems with relationships?
by marmot ini'm a 4th generation dub and i was the epitome of a goodie-two-shoes elder's son.
i was taught/brainwashed that dating was evil and only for mature brothers (i distinctly remember a part on the assembly with a "demonstration" that said even 24 years old was too young to date and you should concentrate on becoming a ms or pioneer first) and went through so much soul-destroying guilt because of the society's utterly ridiculous stance on masturbation that it almost drove me to suicide.
didn't help that my father the elder had a massive porn stash.

Yes, being shy and the witness baggage is a double whammy that takes considerable effort to get over.

Canadian Dollar almost at Par with the US Dollar
by JH ini don't know if that's good or not...... for companies in canada exporting to the us, it means less profits, so possible layoffs.. for those travelling to the us, it's good news, cause it costs less to buy us money now.. what's your take on this?.

When there's a lot more of something it's worth less. Just wait till countries stop holding on to all the dollars they've collected.

How Honest Are You Really???
by minimus inhere's the scenario: you buy an item and it's on sale for 10% off the original price.
a new cashier charges you, instead of 10% off, 10 cents!
this happened to a woman who bought a leather coat among other things and when she reviewed her slip she knew absolutely that the new cashier messed up.

Oh, man I just remembered something. Earlier this summer I got a UPS delivery of two bottles real nice wine, unfortunately it wasn't my name on the package, so I told the delivery guy that this wasn't my package. :( I can't remember the name of the winery, I think it was Silver something or other, and it was in California.

When I go to Subway for my lunch break I get the daily special ans usually substitute a bottle of milk for the soda which is 10 cents more. Half the cashiers cannot figure out how to plug the substitution into their register and end up charging me 10 cents less. In that case it's their willful stupidity/laziness that saves me 10 cents so I'm not going to tell them to charge me the proper amount, and waste half my lunch waiting for them to figure it out.
Usually though if it's an honest mistake I'll point it out. I still think the golden rule is a good idea. -

Vocalization about being a JW v. being an XJW
by sweetface2233 ini know that a lot of jws are very proud of being jws, but ever since i can remember i would be very quiet about it.
i wouldn't announce it at school or work.
i would shy away from the subject.

When I was in school I was shy about admitting I was a witness, but when asked why I don't do this or that I'd feel compelled to say. I'd remember that story about one of the apostles (I can't remember who) who denied he knew Jesus three times then some bird crowed. So I'd better say I was a witness lest some bird crow! O_o
Being an x-jw I think is a part of who I am, and I think that people deserve to know that, although it's not something I throw in people's faces. I guess I could say I'm not a militant x-jw, but I'm not going to hide the fact that I spent a good portion of my life raised to believe a lie either. -
