Let Kids see Dub Grandparents or?

my mom and dad love my son, but i also know because of the depth of their brainwashing, they won't be respectful of my parenting (as i've asked them) and will try to "plant seeds" with him.

he's only 7, loves his grandma and papa very much and is easily confused and distressed when he gets conflicting info.

since we left the dubs, we've had a couple different run-ins with my parents trying subtle and not so subtle means to get at my son, or more accurately, get at me.

What really pisses me off about it is that they LIE! Like the time my mom told my six-year-old that he needed to tell mom to get to meetings or we wouldn't get to be in the New System and then claimed she'd only told him we needed to get to the meeting, but not the second part. Come on, like he's going to just add that on his own??? Then she claimed that because I'd told her they could be themselves around him that I'd given her permission to do that! I said, you are teaching my child to disrespect me. If you can't comply with what I've requested, then I'll have to limit your contact with him. I appreciate everyone's comments and I think you're all right. I think I knew it even before I posted the question. The real pain in the ass is that they claim to be too feeble to come and see him and always want me to bring him over there, which means I'm on their turf surrounded by the piles of dog**** masquerading as Borg literature. Then again, lol, I don't really want them in my house either! Picky picky! Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and put in the time over there. Thanks for everyone's thoughts - it's helped me clarify how to handle this.

a few years back a bunch of brothers in the cong.

i was in would do all night field service.

they would drive all over the county, through 4 or 5 different cities hitting all the bus stops, all night laundromats, convenience stores, gas stations, etc.

ACK! Oh dear God that brought back memories. As a sister it wasn't considered safe, but frequently the brothers bludgeoned into aux pio'ing while they worked full-time would do similar stuff like haunting the rest areas. Of course, then the cong who had that in their territory got tweaked and had the CO declare it off limits. I remember getting up at the butt-crack of dawn to hit hospital waiting rooms, apartment laundry rooms and any other place we could sneak in and out of unseen. When I think about all the time I wasted pestering people *sigh*...

Ex-Witness English tutor encounters a current Witness tutee...

i've been tutoring this nice esl lady named patrice for awhile now.

i knew she was a witness, since i saw her studying out of the revelation book, so i kept my guard up around her.

somehow, though, i recognized an uncited passage from the nwt ecclesiastes in a paper, and i mentioned that she really needed to cite passages from the bible, just like any other book, so she used the odd witness citation.

Depending on what your goal is, then simply telling her that in conscience you cannot waste your employers time on personal business. After all, she's should be very aware of the JW reputation for being honest workers. If she wants to talk to you outside of work, simply be unavailable or busy. Just a thought...

I want my son to see them, and frankly, I don't want to give them an excuse to complain about how my leaving the dubs changed their relationship with him (though I was actually limiting their contact even before I left the dubs since they're psycho). The only option I see is me being stuck going along with him for a couple hours a week. Thoughts??
