FBS, I understand what you mean, but the JWs have a sickly sweet cover that hides the blatantly awful things they believe. They're so good at presenting that persona that they even fool themselves and stop thinking about what the things they sing about in their Kingdom Halls and comment on so earnestly really mean. Sometimes it takes a nasty jolt to force someone to really look at what they're doing, or at the very least, warn others about the reality, not just the facade.

How'd you pick your Avatar and/or Username? (Share a little bio?)
by Open mind ineven though you might think it's painfully obvious, explain why you chose your avatar and/or username.
it could help us faceless "netizens" get to know each other a little better.
open mind.

I chose brunnhilde because my whole dub life, I felt guilty and out of place for being a big, opinionated, outspoken woman who had a brain and a mouth and used them both. I felt crappy because I wasn't the milk-toast submissive woman all the brothers want to see. I used to bend myself into emotional corkscrews just for being who I am, how I am. Brunnhilde is warrior queen, she is one tough chick and she is exactly how she is supposed to be. I pity the man who tries to mess with her! I guess its just my way of claiming my right to be myself, if that makes any sense.
My avatar is just my kitty making a funny face.

Silly Things You Can Do For Which Jehovah Will Kill You...
by gaiagirl ini was thinking about all the various people who the bible says have been killed by jehovah or his angels for various acts of disobedience.
here are a few of the ones i thought of....feel free to add your own eating a piece of fruit (slow death, 930 years) picking up some sticks on the sabbath preventing the ark of the covenant from falling when the guy carrying it stumbles living in a city where your family has lived for generations, in a region where jehovah has "given" the land to his "chosen" people dancing for your victorious warrior father, not knowing he has vowed to offer the first one out of the house as a burnt offering.

That was the straw for me, Blondie. My mom asked me today if someone said or did something that made me leave. I should have told her yes, it was God killing David and BAthsheba's son.

No longer a cruise virgin
by Fatfreek inlast week was my first, judy's second.
i was kinda dreading it but enjoyed every minute of the seven day cruise aboard grandeur of the seas that left new orleans a week ago saturday.
our stops included cayman islands (one of them) and two stops on the mexico coast, costa maya and cozumel.

My husband and I went on a five day cruise to Mexico on the western side. My husband loved it, I hated it. You are constantly waiting in line, everywhere you go, and there is no where private other than your cabin, which is slightly larger than a king size bed unless you've upsized (which was too expensive for us). I would never go again, but I think it really depends on your personality. I prefer downtime on my vacations. I don't want to be racing around from one activity to the next. But I do know that a lot of people really enjoy them.

Congratulations on reaching another milestone in your fade. I personally am astonished at the virtual indifference we've received from our body of elders. One of the Minis was an absolutely raving loony trying to get us to answer the door, but the elders? Not so much... Don't get me wrong, I like you, am grateful since it suits my purpose, but I'm amazed at the dichotomy between the propaganda and the reality and the fact that the rank and file are able to just NOT see it. I think you're right about your wife. I can't imagine anyone with a master's degree staying a dub *shakes head in disbelief*
