If you live in the US, start by completing a FAFSA to see if you qualify for financial aid. Use the school of your dreams and some local state schools and/or community colleges on the application. In Ohio a year at a state university is $7200, which is a far cry from the tuition you cited. Even if you must go to a specialized school for the degree you want, almost all schools accept a certain amount of credits transferred from community colleges and/or state schools. Check things out thoroughly before giving up on your dreams.

In pursuit of my dreams
by fade_away in"followed dreams reaching higher.....couldn't survive the fall".
so the lyrics of one of my favorite bands say.. .
so i'm about to turn 27 and thanks to the good ol wt teachings of how this evil system of things is trying to corrupt us with satan's higher education, now i'm stuck in a 100+ degree warehouse making crap money handling and shipping heavy packages while following bizarre rules the boss has.

My Wife wants to allow a Sister from her congregation to provide before and after care for my oldest daughter...
by garyneal inwhen my littlest one was born we knew finding affordable daycare would be tough.
a sister in her congregation was suggested over and over and we finally checked her out and allowed her to keep the baby.
my oldest has had a fairly normal life (thanks largely to me and my wife before she became a witness) and because of that she is quick to speak of birthdays, holidays, etc.. i want her to continue to have a fairly normal life as i know how hard it would be for her to be 'singled out' because her friends decide to do these things.. she's about to start kindergarten and my wife wants to try some sister from her congregation who is looking to make some extra money providing before and after care.

No, no, no. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this jw babysitter doesn't count time by witnessing to the kids she watches. Any extra money you have to pay for a regular daycare center is worth your child's piece of mind.

Are you an "apostate"?
by cedars ini'm quite new to this site, and i've noticed that many of you are more than happy to call yourselves "apostates", even though many of you evidently believe in the bible and in jesus as saviour, etc.. i'm aware that the society brands anyone who disagrees with them as being an "apostate", but just because they choose to do this, does this mean we should be comfortable with being so branded?
should we "bend over" and take it?.
here is what the insight book says on apostasy:.

However if you're still serious about the bible and what it contains, surely you would object to being called an apostate given the meaning of the word?
Since when has the Watchtower had anything to do with the Bible? It's a sales cult in the same vein as Amway.

Most important, is the girl living in the dirty trailer park with the boyfriend who has emerging anger issues? If that is the case, let her know in no uncertain terms that she and her baby are always welcome at your house if/when they need protection from him. Otherwise, tell her that you're there for her and the baby and that you will support her in whatever decision she makes about keeping it or giving it up for adoption, with work and education. But the boyfriend needs to get a job YESTERDAY!
If she keeps the baby, celebrate the new life that's coming into your family. Every baby deserves that.

Are angels just lazy and perverted?
by Pistoff inreason i ask is we have seen 2 threads this week about angels:.
1. the angels direct judicial committees; when someone is disfellowshipped, the angels are behind it.. so i am wondering why the angels can't seem to identify the pedophiles that are in the congregation, and when a case does come to light, as they did in california over and over, they can't seem to decide that the pedophile should be kicked out?.
do angels like child rapists?

Ha, the Watchtower or its mnions wouldn't know a real angel if one came up and hit them in the ass! In my case, the only "angels" I ever met were the ones who helped me get away from a sadistic, murderous jw husband and the cult he lured me into....My co-workers, supervisor, and attorney, the judge, and the police department were the ones who saved me.

Has anyone, other than me, tried to get your friends/loved ones to prove 1919?
by garyneal inhas anyone, other than me, tried to get your friends/loved ones to prove 1919?.
did they really try to prove it to you or did they write you off as hopelessly lost or somewhere in between?
as some of you are aware, i have been trying to get my wife to prove it to me, and if not her, another believing jehovahs witness.

I refuse to play apostate games with you.
Not that I want to be a sh*t disturber, Gary, but that answer really pisses me off! Maybe the next time your wife objects to innocent past times such as your kids watching "The Princess and the Frog" movie, your answer should be, "I'm not playing your cult games!"

Question for the men
by SafeAtHome ini'd like the input of the guys, maybe some of you who have been married or in a serious relationship for some time.
if you were having an affair and your wife found out about it, would you want her to tell you she knew?
would it serve a purpose, that is, make you end the affair, or on the other hand, push it over the edge to be with the other person?

I will say this is not about the other woman. Who and what she is does not matter. What matters is between you and your husband and I think you would be better off focusing on how to fix that rather than on what makes her such an unsavory person. Whoever or whatever she is, focusing on it will not fix your marriage.
Again, this is NOT a typical affair. This woman is a grifter. The more SAH knows about her and how much money, if any has been spent on her, the better. It's not just her marital future that's in question, but her financial one as well.
I admit to the fact that I did not always make things perfect and that left him vulnerable to her advances, giving him an excuse really
Nobody makes everything in their marriage, or anything else for that matter, perfect.
My whole rant and the followups... They all point to the fact that its never one person.
EE, never say "never". Tell me, was it my fault that my first marriage ended? What is it that I could've done to keep him from beating and strangling me? What in the world did I do to provoke him into driving into oncoming traffic or toward a tree to terrorize me? In your marriage, your wife refuses to listen to you or live more than a marginal life that includes staying in bed most of the time, not focusing on you, your kids or the household. How exactly is that your fault?

I hope you're correct about no one pursuing you for a jc, and you're lucky if you are right about it. If none of your jw family shows up to your wedding, count your blessings. On that day you want only people who wish the best for you, your new bride and your future together, not a bunch who stand around clucking their tongues about pagan origins and other imagined sins.
Congrats on your engagement, have the happiest of wedding days and an even happier future!
