"Still surprises me that the Watchtower doesn't require a 'virginity test' before allowing weddings on in the KH! Crazy dubs! You have to laugh.....otherwise....."
when i married, my wife and me was asked whether we had intercourse before. if we answered "yes" there wouldnt been a wedding at the KH.
there IS this virginity test, but its limited to conscience in front of god only. you're not allowed to lie.
i wont tell ya whether we lied =)

URGENT - UK Elders (or elders wives)
by S EIGHT ini am in urgent need of a copy of a letter sent to uk elders in regard to weddings held at the kh and specific comments about the responsibilities of the brother giving the wedding talk.
i'm told this is a fairly recent letter.. we have an elder kicking up hell about innactive ones who want to come and watch the wedding.
he happens to be the one giving the talk and is acting like he has full control on this wedding.

- any day any time even in the farest future
- dont have to any special attributes. annointed can be spiritually WEAK(!!).
i know many people who predicted that before. -

Discovery Channel: Est. 6.5 Million in Catacombs- Wouldn't the annointed...
by Lady Liberty inhello all and happy tuesday!.
in light of the recent discussion on the 144,000, i thought i would mention a program recently aired on the discovery channel.
it is estimated 6.5 million were laid to rest there.

i read a bit about the catacombs and for me it seemed like almost none of the dead in the catacombs *can* be true christians (in jw belief).
i read somewhere (i forgot where :() that the most ppl in there are from the ~ 3rd century...
and the first christians were using normal graves instead.
if you browse the websites about the catacombs you encounter pictures and stories about thousands of monks, popes, nuns, etc which are buried there. and i guess in jw belief no monk could have been a true christian.
additionally the catacombs were not used by christains only. around 50% were jews...
i guess in jw belief all or nearly all of the bones there orignate from apostates or jews. -

War on religion some day?
by Spirit Axal ini was just starting to think, they removed religion from schools and public areas and jobs.
whats next?
the removal of everyone who believes in god or some high power?
-
Marcel
war on religion was very common in the whole history of humankind. even gods nation israel fought wars against other nations because of their different believes.
the war you mean (ban on all religions in the whole world) is going to happen soon in JW believe. its the last sign before gods war of armageddon. it could trigger civil wars and national wars troughout the world in my opinion.
actually i dont feel like its happening in the next years.
i dont see any power in the world whichs unity and power is high enough to speak out such a ban. i guess this is only possible in dictatorship. imagine a ban on religion in the united states...
nevertheless i think it WILL come one day. the bad influences of religion are visible. but i also think no ban will be successful... at least as long as the human mind doesnt change greatly in the future. nevertheless the jw doctrine says the bible only says that the politics seperate themselves from any religion and ban it. it does not say in will be effective as long as i know.
when its happening (in our time) it will be a hard time for many ex-jw, because it triggers that "and what if it is all right?"-feeling. -

Ghosts and using God's name
by Quexinos inokay im just gonna ask my question because i'm curious.
i'm still not even sure if there are actual witnesses here or just people aruging with them (some people have too much free time) .
see lately i've been watching this show "a haunting" and a lot of the episodes are the same.

hi quexinos!
you suffer from the same problem as me... i dont know to quote either :D
one could do it with HTML tags, but thats to time consuming for me on every post...
maybe some nice person could shed some (new) light on posting in quotes?

Did the JWs conceal crucial info before your baptism
by greendawn infor those that became jws but weren't born in the cult, do you feel that before baptism the dubs withheld from you information that should have been revealed, things that if you were aware of you wouldn't become a jw in the first place, such as the heartless dfing policy.
perhaps focusing on the promise of paradise earth and eternal life makes us forget to search out possible negative issues and that's part of their trickery.

i was raised in the truth and knew everything i needed to know.
the only problem was: i was 14 when i got baptized.
this were my thoughts when i was 14:
- df'ing is righteous and loving
- being part of JW is completely voluntary (i really believed that even i knew what the penalty for it)
- my teenie-doubts about some parts of the genuity of the bible and the creation are caused by my bad knowledge
- it IS the truth
- my struggle with self-touching was caused by my imperfection and satan
- paranormal activity (which i never experienced in person) is the final proof that the jw are right
things i missed because of my age:
- what is sex? (i knew what it is... in theory)
- the possibility that humans can lie... even if my parents trust them for no reason.
- 1001 things i was too young for thinking about because of my limited experience

in jw opinion its not the *word* itself which makes demons flee. its god (or his angels) himself you scare the demons away. its like that:
demon haunts guy -> guy believes in jehovah -> guy is scared and shouts "jehovah!" or "jehovah help me!" -> god sees his faith and decides to help him -> god is much more powerful as all demons -> demon flees
i dont know whether demons really exist. i never experienced anything supernatural in full conscience (i have strange experiences as i was a kid, but it also can be my imagination).
if i had to make a decision i would say: ghosts, demons and things are the product of the human imagination and the brains poor ability to differ between real and unreal situations.
its an easy answer, but i cant know.
btw.: im an active JW with strong doubts. -

For Jehovah's WItnesses
by cultswatter inyou might think that the world is flat but give it a chance!.
as a jehovah's witness you must believe the following or be kicked out of the organization for apostacy!.
1. that the devils came down to earth and christ set up his new world government in 1914.

greendawn: thats wrong. current doctrine is that annointed *may* be resurrected instantly and even *may* help guiding JW from heaven. its said that we dont know but its possible.
the door to heaven was not closed in 1935. it was a doctrine in the past once, but currently there is no similar doctrine i know of. nevertheless its not seen as "common" if people are suddenly annointed today. they are carefully watched but since jw dont know how god appoints they are "allowed" to partake. current doctrine is the annointed are "sealed" but if a annointed sins or leaves the organisation god may get a new one ;) its a kind of weired but thats what ive been told lately. -

Any information please
by link incan anyone tell me what the jehovah,s witnesses currently believe regarding the date that cyrus destroyed the temple at jerusalem.
i asked a witness and they told me that they now believe that cyrus arrived in jerusalem in 607 bce but did not destroy the temple until 20 years later!!!!
this still makes a nonsense of 1914!!!.

Marcel
as far as i know and im an active jw:
destroyed 607b.c.
