Sorry - I'm in a rush or I'd re-read your history to make sure if this is applicable (grin) BUT I carried alot of One Date = Forever mentality forward from being in JWs. And so if I was out a couple of times, I was thinking it was super-serious, this was IT and planning a future (which, in retrospect, really freaked alot of guys out, heh). So my best advice is - don't even think past the next date for at least 90 days. THEN maybe start thinking about exclusivity, relationships, etc. That JW mentality about dating can really mess you up.

so far quite dissappointed from what i've seen.

this is very very important, first i"ll address the non/ex jw then i'll address the jw's (jw's scroll down if don't wanna see the first part).

i see so many who have concluded that it was not 'god inspired', a lot of what is being done, and their conscience told them that many things conflicted with jesus teachings and the bible.

Do we REALLY have to have pages and pages of answers to someone who is clearly a: deliberately here to bait us, b: slightly unhinged and thinks he/she has a link to the divine? Not worth your time and energy everyone...he/she is CLEARLY not even remotely here for real discussion but rather to condemn and spew ridiculousness. No Attention = Troll Death.

If the FBI forensically analyzed your computer would they find incriminatory searches on the net?

if your pc was searched by the fbi, would they find any searches that could used to implicate you in any crime?

even if the search was innocent, could they twist your internet search to be worse then it really was?

i will start off since i asked the question.

I have no idea. I wonder about it sometimes tho b/c I do searches on stuff like jihad, etc and I get a listserv type email every day for an international relations forum I belong too...it's all school-related but sometimes I wonder if just doing the research red flags me somehow.

I need your opinion, helping a love one see the light

ill have a long weekend this week because of the thanksgiving holyday.

i made plans to have the entire weekend off with no activities in order to have time to begin to awake my wife.

i dont plan to lay everything out in one day, nor take the approach of we are living this organization, rather, im taking the approach of here is some information that we should consider and think about.

Agree w/ Pat1060. Find out why SHE believes it is the truth. All the other information in the world won't sway her if it's not important to her. What is HER core reason? Then figure out what approach to take.

after i decided/resolved to return to meetings several months ago, after being away on and off for several years; i can honestly say that i feel far more settled and comfortable in attending meetings again.. i struggled to attend before, having been reproved, then moving to a different congregation which i didnt find to be overly freindly.

it was only after i was reproved that i began to see all the past history of the soc iety(via internet) and the many things that simply stumbled me.

3 times i tried to return to meetings and three times i fell away.

Coupla' questions.

1. What is perimeno's real name and congregation?

2. If they are not readily available, why not? Do you really think the WTBS sanctions his/her website and personal viewpoints?

3. Exactly how long do you think a person would actually last who a: went to the elders and mentioned a: associating with apostates via the internet, b: a copy of perimeno's website with the statement of agreement with perimeno's teachings/thoughts?

4. Can someone who claims to be Christian and thus a follower of Christ REALLY associate with an organization that "treated their flock in many cases in a dreadful manner" and yet still have a good conscience?

In all honestly, I truly don't care one way or another and hope you find peace on your spiritual path. I AM curious about your answers, however, as cognitive dissonance is a very interesting phenomena, and one I may end doing part of my final dissertation on.

she is 63 yrs old still a jw.. has shunned me for years.. she lives in montreal me in ontario... .

last week i got the urge to send her a lovely card just to tell her i love her .

Evolutionists - please help!

ok. (taking deep breath) i am finally at that point in my recovery where i am ready to look at evolution as more than a loose theory which is clearly disprovable by the fact that all the bones proving it could be in a coffin.

or, um, some illustration like that.. i feel like first i have to "unlearn" the jw teaching of evolution to learn what "real" evolution is.

then, learn about that and then see how i feel.

Thank you very much everyone. I've got quite a lot to get through and will probably have questions. I am hoping to get through most of this while on winter break from school. I really, really, really appreciate the calm and factual answers - and that no one tried to make me feel dumb!!! :)

And my sincere apologies for using the word "evolutionist" if it offended anyone. I had no idea that could be considered insulting - I thought it was the correct way to describe those who believe in evolution (as opposed to those who do not). Thanks, inkling, for giving me the benefit of the doubt.
