  given both ideologies classify humans as the top of the food chain, there are some attributes in the animal kingdom that are much better to ours.

  i think it may be cultural or something.... ive been browsing the forum for a few days now and cant believe at times we are talking about the same religion.

  and while i would never want to go back to their way of life, i honestly find it hard to believe that as an organisation they are evil.

  Locks of Love Donation

  last night, my kids had appointments to have their hair cut, i wanted them to look decent before school starts.

  as i sat there, realizing i needed one myself, a trim to say the least, i went ahead and asked if she had time for my hair.

  thankfully she had the time.

  thought this could get interesting discussing experiences.

  i for one was trying to reach out for ministerial servant again in the early 90's , had been one before, and was assigned to carry the microphones one meeting.

  had an elder call me in the back room and say , " brother flipper, i noticed looking down towards your shoes that you are wearing white socks today.

  I hated panty hose! When I was 16 I decided I would not wear them anymore (it was summertime), my parents didn't say anything, but the elders told my dad that it was inappropriate for a young sister to not wear pantyhose. Who the hell wears panty hose with sandals?

  Are You Happy With What you've discovered in Life After being a JW ?

  my life personally has taken a much more positive turn after leaving the religion.

  less stress to be having nights taken up with meetings droning on.

  lots more time for reading new things on life, hobbies, trips to take, i enjoy cooking for my wife.

  Although I was raised JW and left at 18, I am still happier now. I don't have people judgeing me for every little thing I do or do not do, I have friends and family (non-JW) who love me for me and not for what they want me to be.

  I'm free to be happy and live life fully not waiting or expecting to be destroyed any day now!

  I'm shooting for the most petty JW-caused problem/complaint

  ok, here's the deal.

  several years ago my brother-in-law (who is also a reformed jw fader) helped us move back to oklahoma.

  while we were taking apart furniture prior to the move we were using my drill and 75 foot extension cord.

  I hated overzealous clappers. You know the ones that clapped extra hard, extra long and shook their heads all the while? Yea, those - they pissed me off!

  Is it ok to shun Jehovah's Witnesses?

  let me explain myself... for instance when your friends and family keep changing their minds... like my sister she didn't want to talk to me, then we started talking again and now she is back to shunning me.

  same with my once best friend we were fine with each other's beliefs then one night she tells me in order to have god's favor she has to shun me.

  now she's talking to me again.

  I think calling them on it and using humor is the best. I did shun my parents and 3 of my siblings when I first left. They played the on/off game and I got tired of it. Once I started shunning them they didn't like it and started calling me more often!

  They don't like it when you shun them, they only like it when they are hurting you!

  Anyone from Calgary?

  last night i got a phone call from one of my oldest and dearest friends.

  we have been talking about doing some business together and i wanted to be honest with her about fading from the jw's.

  i told her that i was inactive and not planning on making any effort to return.

  I'm from the US so I can't help with your problem. I just wanted to let you know that you are a great friend. I'm sure it took guts to even open that can of worms with her because you never know what kind of response you will get!

  All you can do is be there for her! Congrats Bobbi on getting out a friend
