it was two years and two months ago when i told my mother that i no longer recognize the wts religion as being "the truth.
" as you may know, to a jw mother, this is like telling her you've decided to jump off a skyscraper.
i have spoken to her only two times since then, and have not seen her or my dad since then.
They hate it when you are ok with them not speaking to you or "cutting you off". This is when my parents try harder to have some contact with me. They want us to be upset and unable to get on with our lives because we "left jehoobie", you know it's for our own good so that we see our wrong ways and change .
I love to see my mom squirm when she does try to talk JW crap to me and I completely tune her out and continuously change the subject, drives her mad!

watchtower policies clearly make women second-class citizens.

this thread is not about how ridiculous it is that a female is not allowed to hand out mags, territory, books or carry a microphone if a qualified male is present.

i was helping a patient where i work that was very frusterated.
she said the only reason we stopped by is because we are out here "ministering", i thought, oh crap..... she goes on with her story when i went to leave she asked me if i had every heard of the watchtower, i politely answered yes.
she then asked if i liked it, and i politely answered no.
About a month ago as a patient was leaving my office she started digging in her bag while saying "I have something good for you to read", I didn't even look back at her and said "if it's got anything to do with JW's don't bother". She said, "oh have you read our literature"? I said yup, it was constantly rammed down my throat from birth to age 18, when I turned 18 I promptly vomited it all back up into my parents laps and now I have a real life, have a nice day and I'll see you in one year for a follow up!

when i first attended the congregation of jehovahs witnesses i never even thought about whom or what was the faithful and discreet slave.
i do not believe that this information is ever taught to the public directly.
i think you have to be baptised or start attending the same meetings as those that are baptised.. anyway what made all of you adapt the teaching of the faithful and discreet slave (class or whatever)?

it's sunday, and i need to get away from my reality for a bit.. going to buy a boat.
needs to have a cabin, potty, shower, etc....how big a boat would that have to be?
then i have to decide where to go.
I can help cook the fish and I make an awesome potato salad, can I come? Of course if I do I'll have to stop at the pharmacy and get some Scopalomine patches for motion sickness, shall I bring some for anyone else?

my daughter exercised on a bicycle machine and her muscles swelled and caused a rare condition that put her in the hospital.
i can't remember the name of the condition but it is a serious problem.
it causes problems with your kidneys and other things.

when i go to my threrapist's office, while waiting in the waiting room, i look for wts and awakes.
when i find them i write on them a website either this one or silent lambs or i just write "this group is a cult" across the front of it.. one visit i found like 12 wts.
i didn't have time to scribble a note on all of them before my therapist called me in.. well this week.
This JW at my office always leaves them in the bathroom and I promptly rip them up and throw them in the trash. I think I'll invest in sharpie instead

i just wanted share that i am graduating from columbia university next week with an undergraduate degree in sociology at the age of 39. see, it's never too late, for anyone out there considering attending college.. my partner and around 10 of my closest friends will be there to cheer me on, which is overshadowing any disappointment that my family will not be there, or as of today, yet to acknowledge this accomplishment that means so much to me (i sent grad announcements a few weeks ago along with an invite).
in all honestly, they live across the country so it is an expensive trip.. anyway, despite the student loans, hard work and sacrifices, it has been well worth it.
i remember back in h.s in the late 1980s, i begged my parents to let me attend college, but of course, the end was coming and it was a waste of time.
