Would You Go Back?
by Dune inyesterday, my aunt was talking to one of my siblings about how things have been changing in our [ex] congregation for the 'better'.. she mentioned how a new circuit overseer has come in and is shaking things up.
the co appointed a ministerial servant (someone, the po & secretary didn't like and i know would never have voluntarily suggested appointment) and some of the 'brothers' that have had no 'responsibility' ever are being given #4 talks.
she also mentioned that the book study will be cancelled and the meetings are being shortened.. a ministerial servant who had a vendetta against some of the elders wants me to talk to a co and basically tell him i left the congregation [and the religion] because of the incompetence of the elders.. i'm not talking to the co and i'm not 'blaming' anyone.

Funny/strange things you ate as a kid.
by IP_SEC inok i'll start.. 13 y/o or so.. once it rained for a month straight.
we had an old dry tank dump in the back that filled up with water.
there were tons of frogs that showed up and started breeding.. i was looking at them on the edge of the water through my .22 scope.

Giving talks terrified my hubby-how about you?
by QuestioningEverything inme and the hubby were talking about back in the day when we had to give public talks.
i'm a natural chatterbox and not very shy.
my hubby is just the opposite.

I remember that I was 10 and I didn't want to do it. I was shy and hated speaking in front of people this also applied to fs. I would get so nervous that I'd get nauseated and have diarrhea, sometimes I'd even cry. But noooo I had to do anyway. Probably looked like an ass up there bugger and snott'n all over the place. It's a wonder they understood anything I said.
I didn't stop being shy until after I had my son and was in college.
Did I mention that this is a stupid cult?

Why Don't Witness Parents Get Angry?
by metatron inthere are a great many puzzlements in regard to the meek and servile compliance of witnesses but one area has long interested me.
specifically, why don't more witness parents get angry at the do-nothing watchtower society?
i can recall one somewhat deranged elder's wife who got away with demanding to speak to the assembled body of elders because she was worried that 'all of of our kids are falling out of the truth'.

Yeah the jdubs are always so quick to tell you that if you leave joe hoover you will end up a drug addict, in prison, criminal, fornicating blah blah blah. Have they ever thought that most of the young one turn to this because when they leave their whole support systems is gone? All their family and friends turn their backs on them?

Bad Associations spoil useful habits. Are the JWs right? Scripturally?
by Open mind init has been interesting for me to learn the various ways that the jws twist the scriptures to fit their own dogma.
(of course jws aren't alone in that, but that's another topic.
) two quick examples of jws not following or going beyond the bible are blood and birthdays.

by minimus ini look back and think of how mindless, boring and dumb it all was.
.
i think of having to sit at mind numbing meetings, bored to tears, making believe i was enjoying the fine spiritual banquet.. i think of how we used to drive around in "service" looking for nothing to do----just so that we could put our time in---hoping that no one was home.. everyone had to conform to direction and whims of elders or the society.. i am soooooooooo glad i'm out!.

Hey solace - you have every right to be here just like anyone else.
I just don't understand those who have so many positive things to say about the cult as if they enjoy it and want to remain a part of it, but come here to have discussions with those of us who have been hurt by this cult and have had horrible experiences there. Those of us that can own up to the fact that we were apart of the family destroying, self esteem destroying, repressive, blah, blah, jw cult. A lot of us didn't choose this cult it was forced on us by parents who thought they were doing the right thing. To me it just doesn't add up.
Stay or go, it doesn't change my life a bit.

...OUTLAWI agree Outlaw - Why hang around here solace? Why not rush back to the kh and get reinstated sounds like it was a wonderful experience for you. It has nothing to do with your difference of opinion, why be here if you love it so much? What's up?
To answer the question, even on the most boring days of my current life it's better than being a JW. There was nothing, zero, nadda interesting or variable about those mind numbing, butt numbing meetings and fs.

umm one of these types of stories was a complete farce, which is depressing, but it is no surprise that something like this can happen -- as a matter of fact, i learned it from a WTBTS article, o irony

I Am Civilian Employee of the Month!!!
by snowbird ini was notified of this 15 minutes ago.. my boss found out that i have an eidetic memory, and is quite impressed that i can tell him who has paid fines, when, and how much.
he's a mess!.
i get a plaque, a reservation for the end-of-year banquet, and - if we had such a thing - parking space #1. the best he can do is a space right alongside the highway!

I once was awarded employee of the year, I happened to be out that day sick LOL. Go figure any way I got $1000.00 and the employee of the month parking space. Would never have guessed it would be me.
