I've also found that it's the "hope" of a better future, the "hope" to see loved ones again, the "hope" of never having to die that keep alot of JW's in.

Are You Surprised That Some "Intelligent" People Still Are Witnesses?
by minimus ini know some very sharp men and women that remain as jws and that perplexes me at times.
i even know of a jw whose daughter got molested by her jw ministerial servant uncle and she still believes this is the "truth", even though she took her family member to court and won!.
i don't get it..

Any Suggestions For An Out of Control Teen Into Sex, Drugs & Alcohol?
by minimus ini know of a 15 year old boy who is sliding deeper into substance abuse and everyone around him seems powerless to stop him from his self destructive behavior.
his parents are divorced, his father barely sees his son, his mother supports her 2 kids in the best way that she can but cannot control her son at all.
he smokes weed every day, been in trouble regularly with the law, is now selling prescription meds that he steals from family members---basically, he's either going to be dead or in jail if he doesn't get serious help.. any suggestions??

What I found out was that there is little help until the kid commits a crime and the police get involved. And then the authorities look at the parents and say "why didn't you do something to stop this"?
Until then it's up to the parents to pay out the nose for rehab/counseling for a kid who is not ready to be helped. By no means am I saying that rehab doesn't help, but usually in this situation if the kid doesn't want to change you can forget it until he/she is ready. That's where tough love comes in and you have to let them fall flat on their face and deal with the consequences.
It took my son until he was 26 to realize that we were there for him, he didn't have to go through all drama he went through and that we weren't the bad guys but actually loved him and supported him and wanted the best for him. He's paid dearly but at least he's still young and seems to be on the right track now.
Growing up is a biatch and you couldn't pay me to be a teenager in 2009.

SHOCK! As A Family Of 5 Is DF'd On The Same Night!!!
by african GB Member inthe whole congregation came to a complete and utter shock as a family of 5 was df'd on the same night.... apparently the father was to be df'd for apostacy.
he was given a chance to appeal.
went home to discuss it with family.

Shootout at the end of our block!

we let the dog out to potty at about 3:10 am, and all of a sudden we heard about 20 loud gunshot blasts.
we got chelsea back inside quickly, and within minutes the police helicopter was above our house, and sirens everywhere.

if their feet are tied down, as well, the time is reduced to about 15 minutes.. .
