  Any Suggestions For An Out of Control Teen Into Sex, Drugs & Alcohol?

  i know of a 15 year old boy who is sliding deeper into substance abuse and everyone around him seems powerless to stop him from his self destructive behavior.

  his parents are divorced, his father barely sees his son, his mother supports her 2 kids in the best way that she can but cannot control her son at all.

  he smokes weed every day, been in trouble regularly with the law, is now selling prescription meds that he steals from family members---basically, he's either going to be dead or in jail if he doesn't get serious help.. any suggestions??

  It didn't help my kid min because he thought he had all the answers, we didn't know jack about jack and just needed to leave him alone to live his life the way he wanted to. It was "his business" not ours. I spent many of days in the counselors office wasting my time and money because he wouldn't even talk to the guy, he'd just sit there. The whole thing was one big fat waste of time.

  But I did it anyway hoping it would help and something would click. We did everything the doctors and counselors and psych. docs told us too.

  Like I said sometimes you have to let them fall and hope they get themselves together. You have to set boundaries and not let them get away with anything but it is very, very, very hard. I hate to say it but I spent many of days regretting that he was born because he took us through so much un-necessarily.

  Are You Surprised That Some "Intelligent" People Still Are Witnesses?

  i know some very sharp men and women that remain as jws and that perplexes me at times.

  i even know of a jw whose daughter got molested by her jw ministerial servant uncle and she still believes this is the "truth", even though she took her family member to court and won!.

  i don't get it..

  I've also found that it's the "hope" of a better future, the "hope" to see loved ones again, the "hope" of never having to die that keep alot of JW's in.

  What I found out was that there is little help until the kid commits a crime and the police get involved. And then the authorities look at the parents and say "why didn't you do something to stop this"?

  Until then it's up to the parents to pay out the nose for rehab/counseling for a kid who is not ready to be helped. By no means am I saying that rehab doesn't help, but usually in this situation if the kid doesn't want to change you can forget it until he/she is ready. That's where tough love comes in and you have to let them fall flat on their face and deal with the consequences.

  It took my son until he was 26 to realize that we were there for him, he didn't have to go through all drama he went through and that we weren't the bad guys but actually loved him and supported him and wanted the best for him. He's paid dearly but at least he's still young and seems to be on the right track now.

  Growing up is a biatch and you couldn't pay me to be a teenager in 2009.

  when i first got the internet in 1998, i was out in fs with 2 young bros in their teens, best friends.

  they wanted to check their email, and i said that they could use the computer.. i went upstairs, and found them in a chat room.

  (this was before the first article on chat rooms, i think.

  SHOCK! As A Family Of 5 Is DF'd On The Same Night!!!

  the whole congregation came to a complete and utter shock as a family of 5 was df'd on the same night.... apparently the father was to be df'd for apostacy.

  he was given a chance to appeal.

  went home to discuss it with family.

  another one of my second cousins killed himself today.

  he was 42 and still a jw.

  he called 911 and shot himself while talking to them.

  Shootout at the end of our block!

  we have been up all night with the commotion going on here!

  we let the dog out to potty at about 3:10 am, and all of a sudden we heard about 20 loud gunshot blasts.

  we got chelsea back inside quickly, and within minutes the police helicopter was above our house, and sirens everywhere.

  i really don't understand some people's fear of president obama.

  from the accusations that he's a closet socialist, closet muslim, to he's going to take everyone's guns, there seems to be a fair few who are either paranoid, fearful of anyone not exactly like them, or just plain stupid.. so here's the latest: backwards masking.

  I agree with Quirky1 - you have to be outright blunt with JW's. Say what you mean and mean what you say. If you beat around the bush or leave any reason that you might listen next time they'll be back

  unwittingly the germans, during wwii, they experimented with many, many ways for killing people, efficiently and quickly.

  their records show that when a person is suspended with their hands over their head, as they would be on the jw "torture stake," they can survive for approximately one hour.

  if their feet are tied down, as well, the time is reduced to about 15 minutes.. .
