  My wounds opened up badly today

  the past three weeks having been so stressful and very sad.

  my ex husband died after being in hospital for just over a week in intensive care.. i was just 18 and he was 21 when we first met and after a whirlwind romance we married 6 months later and have two sons together who are now adults.

  although our marriage ended after 25 years and i remarried 7 years ago, he was my first love and i knew him for most of my life.

  Star Trek

  i like voyager best, of the tv series.. anyway, tonight they had a sneak peek of the new star trek movie and we went.

  I Miss My Mom

  may 4th was the 15th anniversary of my mom's sudden death as a result of a brain aneurysm.

  she died near the arkansas-tenneessee border on a tour bus headed for the brooklyn headquarters.

  there were a number of over jws from my, then, local congregation with her and my dad.

  Ok you made me cry a little with that one I lost a very close friend a month ago to a brain anueurysm, one day she was here and the next she was gone.

  Black Families & Shunning

  after reading password's blog on freeminds, and following the thread about the 7/09 awake, i am saddened to hear the experiences of so many who have been shunned by their families.. i confess that when i first started reading at this site - 8 years ago - i couldn't believe what i was seeing.

  i knew that df'd persons were to be excluded from any spiritual interaction, but i'd never personally witnessed the extreme shunning that the society encourages.. i've often mentioned that this seldom happens in black families.

  of course, i have no statistical evidence to back this up, but i have yet to see a family in my area practice this kind of shunning.

  I don't know Sylvia, my family does it when it's convienent, if they are putting on a show or if they think they can manipulate you into coming back.

  My parents give crazy JW parents a whole new meaning!

  Edited: they are both from the deep south originally born and raised and they both have huge families all non-JW

  I grew up in a 99.9% African American JW enviornment and my experience is total shunning. Now my family - they shun as long as they can make you feel guilty and have a chance to bring you back, once they see that it won't work they come around.

  Example: JW brothers (both elders now) have been df'd multiple times and every time shunning was enforced!

  Me (not da'd or df'd just left), my older brother (da'd), older sister(df'd) and younger sister(never baptised) - no way were we coming back and made it known. They tried to shun but when we didn't give a damn and shunned them back or told them were to put their shunning, they changed their tune.

  I sometimes wish they would shun me though

  Question about snakes

  hi everyone, long time no post but i wanted your opinion on something please.. well a friend of mine has just got a corn snake.

  its a baby but it will grow up to 6ft.

  i never considered myself anti-snake because i know people do have phobias on them, but seeing it in action, including the way it eats, has really put me off - not only snakes, but also, the friendship.

  Ask your friend to put the snake away and not to feed it when you are around. Or don't go visit at the friends home, do things other places or at your place.

  My friend has a cat - cats are ok but i'm allergic and they get hair all over the place. I don't go to her house and she doesn't get offended.

  Hey Jeff,

  I had a conversation with my crazy Jdub mom last night (I wonder sometimes why I even call to say hi ) anyway, she was all bent out of shape about my younger sister, how she just can't get her life together and she has all these kids, blah, blah, blah. Then she goes on to say that she wished all her kids would just die (except the two super elders) so that we could all be together in the new system.

  After I puked, I asked her if that would really happen. If I died today considering that I obviously don't believe in god, the bible or any of the BS that comes along with religion, does she really think her "god" would bring me back in his new system? She said yes, because he's a loving god and he knew how I was raised and would give me a second chance. She also believes that if that would happen I'd be sure to love god and believe and have faith because then I'd see the "truth"

  So now I've related this little phone conversation, I feel sick and I'm gonna go puke now!

  **note to self, don't visit mom anytime soon she may just off me so I'll be resurrected**
