found this interesting talk on e-watchman's site.
it was given by david splane, a gb member.. the talk is really interesting as it gives a more focused look at the troubles the society is facing as it trys to cope with education, peer pressure etc.. .

Bluebell,
I know the feeling!!! I don't have a computer at home at the moment, so when I'm at work I'm on all day long.
Thankfully I have my own office so it's pretty private!!
Try not to withdraw too much

hi everyone, well im totally new at this but i thought i would give it a go anyway.so here is my story(short version).
well i have been with my boyfriend for 2yrs now and the last 4months he has started to get back into witnessing.
i have said from day one that i dont want to be one, but i did attend a meeting, memorial and some studys i did this for him to see what it was all about.
Welcome to JWD Aussie,
My advise to you is to run as fast as you can from this person and the JW religion. Your life will be miserable!!! If you think you are sad and are crying now, what do you think the future will be like if you marry this person??
Take you family and friends advise if no one else and do not marry this man!!

yikes, the end is near!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
that's about the only thing i just can not get past.
i have gotten over many, many of the things i grew up with, except that one.
Yeah Rose,
For a long time after leaving the borg I still thought armagedon was coming. I really took years to get that crap out of my head. Why is it that, that one particular teaching is so hard to get rid of???
I'm glad that I left when I did, had my children, pursued a career and degree (although the degree came much later than it should have), So many have lost so much to this origanization it's really sad.

i'm studying with a jehovah's witness and it makes quite a bit of sense but i've been reading many topics on here and it seems that i can find every christian denomination and every religion except jehovahs witnesses.
do any jw's actually browse here?
maybe i'm just getting unlucky and picking the wrong topics where everyones discussing about how they used to be jw's.
Hi Michael and welcome to JWD - please do lots of research and browse around JWD before committing to this religion!!
I was born and raised as JW - it was a horrible childhood, this religion has no provision for being a child, preteen, teen, young adult - from the moment you are born you are a miniture JW. Child abuse is rampant in the origanization, and they are notorious for sheltering child molesters from police and prosecution!
When I was 18 years old, I left he originization - I've had to deal with some shunning from my parents initially but now I do have some communication with them although very little. Most on the forum have lost all family contact as well as friends and lifestyle as they new it, simply because they realized that this religion was not for them. Once you committ there is no turning back without severe consequences.
Hope you hang around to find out more about the truth lie.

in some of the post i read, people say that they have never been a jw.
what makes them post on this forum?
my only guess would be because they have family or friends that are.. .
I had the same question at one time and can only guess as you have that they have family or friends in the borg and are trying to understand them or trying to get them out.

for me it was a combination of things over a long period of time.
being raised as a witness, you do things by rote.
but when you see sooooooooo many watchtower inconsistencies, mistreatment of the "brothers", elder abuse, and simple lack of love, it begins to make you start seriously thinking.
I also grew up JW by force, my parents were so I had to be. Never really felt like I belonged always an outkast!!!
So I new long before my 18th birthday that I'd be outta there on my birthday. I played the role for as long as I could but the older or closer to 18 I got the more trouble I got my self into with the elders.
I did everything I could to rebel and prove to myself that I was not like the others and would never be, unfortunately I was trying to convice people that didn't care, their job was to make sure I conformed!!!
Would never be a submissive type wife, would never let anyone or any religion tell me what to do, wear, think or anything else!!!
