just thought i'd stick my head in to say hello, and how is everyone doing?!!

been going ok here, been a bit stressed with the job i'm doing, and seem to live for the weekends and a few beers.

was going to go to the convention in london this weekend at twickenham, but got sort of warned off it from my mum being as i'm in this new relationship wouldn't be "appropriate" as she said.

!..just got back from civilization yesterday..it`s soooo nice to be back in the wilderness.....i`m sitting here at my computer catching up with all the posts..my enormous picture widow is directly in front of me..the desert sun is out,it`s going to be a beautiful day..i look out the window a there are two gigantic animals 20ft from the window..moose..a male moose,extremely muscular with a huge set of horns sitting majestically on his head..a long tassel of skin hanging between his jaw and neck.

(just like a wild turkey)..??

I don't feel angry or resentful, do you?

i'm new here (my first post yesterday: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/138721/1.ashx) and i've noticed only one thing that i don't have in common with a few people here.. i'm breaking free of my beliefs after more than thirty years and i feel great.

i feel calm, free and in control.. i feel no anger, resentment or hate towards my so-called brothers and sisters or towards the fds or the organization.

i don't see the point, it doesn't help me any.

I left when I was 18, 24 years ago. I didn't find JWD until this year, and alot of things I never even gave thought to, I found out here. Lot's of "aha" moments and "oh yeah, I do remember that".

I've always "hated" the JW ~~religion~~ cult I knew it was wrong and I didn't hang around to find out what was wrong about it. I still have family in, parents and 2 siblings, the anger I feel is when they still try to push the BS on me, I'm 40+ years old if I didn't want it then, I damn sure don't want it now.

I know this sounds stupid, but I can't stand to hear the JW lingo .

Welcome to JWD, I'm glad you are doing so well and hope you never have a reason to feel the anger that most here do!

Saying 'goodbye' on the phone. US style?

i can't help but have noticed that the us tv and film industry more than not portray phone conversations finishing without any 'goodbyes'.

someone will say, for example, 'see you at the mall' then put down the phone.. is this a reflection of the norm in us land or just filming priorities of time and money?.

When talking to family (hubby, kids especially) I always say "bye, I love you", or see ya later, love ya

With friends I just talk to you later, bye.

I never thought much about it before, I'll have to pay attention because now I'm curious

Were you allowed to use the bathroom during meetings?

i have read many post on here about abuse that goes on in the kingdom hall.

one abuse i use to see involved the denial of the bathroom to children during meetings.. .

in the kingdom hall i attended like most expected children to sit still for two hours during the meetings.

We were told to go before the meeting and after. If we needed to go during, you better believe mom or dad was going with you and you were not going to be a happy camper when you got back.

My cousin always had bladder infections when we were teenagers, she always held her water, as instructed by her strict JW dad, and as she got older she couldn't kick the habit!

we love you so much that we dont ever want anything bad to happen to you.

It's obvious that you parent's love you. I don't think that was ever an issue.

I'm going to tell you what I tell my kids:

1. Choose your friends wisely

2. Don't be a follower, if your friends are doing somthing wrong, that could get you in trouble, get away from them, make your own choices.

3. Always use protection when having sex

4. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean it's right (I mean, just because you are 18 and legal doesn't mean everything is right or ok to do)

5. Be responsible for your own actions, don't blame others for the choices you make

6. Treat people the way you want them to treat you, your mother, father, sister, brother, grandparents, etc...

I think jngat advise about writing down your feelings is exactly what you should do, then go back and revise. Don't rush, take your time and think about what it is you are trying to get across to them.

I hope you are not planning on leaving before you finish school and have taken our advise about higher education!
