both good points..hadnt thought of blood as a "liquid transplant" before but that is what it is...

last year when i renewed my driver's license i was asked if i wanted to register to be an organ donor.
of course, in the past, i never did.
joking with the driver's license employee, i asked if they wanted the arm and leg now... they had good humor and responded equally joking that it was ok, they would wait until i died.

over the last few years, i have noticed an increase in the number of pleas from the platform for brothers to "reach out" for "privileges of service.
" it has even been said that there are not enough elders and servants in the congregations.
this could be a local phenomenon, but i suspect it is more widespread.
The last congo I was an elder in, we lost one elder (the PO) when he went back to his old cono, tired of dealing with this bunch. I ran into him recently...he just stepped aside as an elder...his step son was DF...BOE was desperate to keep him on as an elder and didnt want to accept his resignation.
Two other elders in there late 40s/early 50s both resigned. The older of the two I think is active but no longer will reach out, the younger I heard recently that he and his wife no longer attend anywhere. Don't know their status...far as I know he could be lurking here.
I was deleted in Dec 2006...well, y'all know where this one is at now.."apostate".....LOL
One elderly elder recently died. He followed whatever the next two said, but occasionally surprised us as an independent.
The elder that replaced that elder as PO was/is in his early to mid 30s. Completely unqualified. Still there.
His daddy, a former PO, in his late 50s/early 60s, also unqualified for many reasons...controls BOE through his son.......jack ass.
The service overseer, mid 50s, likes to look at porn and hug young girls inappropriately. Got caught looking at porn, yet still serves as an elder.
Two other elderly elders were transferred in from a congo that was dissolved. As useful as toothless chihuahuas.
So of the 10 elders that were there when I was there, 1 died, 1 deleted (and is apostate ), 1 moved away (and recently stepped aside), 2 stepped aside (1 is inactive)...2 are toothless title holders.....leaving all of three "working" elders. Wonder how that's working out for them.
As for up and coming MS.... forget about it...when I was there we had 4 .... 1 younger one has since moved away.... 1 is elderly and barely hanging on....2 others (mid 30s and mid 40s) neither want to be elders.... I heard recently they had one reappointment...probably their only hope of another elder...and not a good one at that.
That just gives me the warm fuzzies thinking about it.

Joking with the driver's license employee, I asked if they wanted the arm and leg now... they had good humor and responded equally joking that it was ok, they would wait until I died. After that bit of jovialty, I agreed to being registered. The state I live in (Illinois) is very advanced in promoting organ donation registration. The Secretary of State seems to have made it his personal mission the whole time he has been in... yeah, Illinois actually has some decent people in office, despite the fools we have had as governor.
I thought that my DL does not have anything that says I am registered. So I was perusing online for info about a wallet card. Turns out, I just found as I was searching that there is a small red graphic on my new license in the shape of the state and says "DONOR" in small print... I think that is just plain cool....its official. Turns out if a person dies in any of the area hospitals, medical examiners, coroners, etc. all look for donor cards and that logo. They also check the national registry. And family consent is no longer required unless over 18. They do keep the family in the loop.
Here is the dub connection. I found a FAQ page about the views of various religions... and there was a paragraph about Jehovah's Witnesses...very interesting.. http://www.mts-stl.org/Understanding/TruthFiction/5.phtml
Jehovah's Witness Jehovah's Witnesses do not encourage organ donation but believe it is a matter for individual conscience according to the Watch Tower Society, the legal corporation for the religion. The group does not oppose donating or receiving organs; however, all organs and tissues must be completely drained of blood before transplantation.
Why the draining of blood? Odd. Even odder that the "legal corporation for the religion" is calling the shots on the official position.
Of all of the other groups, only gypsies actually oppose organ donations, because "they believe that the body must be intact after death because for one year the soul retraces its steps," though there is no formal restriction. Mormons have some wishy washy wording like the witnesses. This info is from the Mid-America Transplant Services web site. I thought it was interesting.

i have never been fat - exactly.
but i have been overweight most of the past two decades.
lately it has settled around my waistline.. so, i decided to find a way to lose it without falling back into bad eating habits - a lifestyle change.. i have taken a few steps and began earnest effort to start moving the scale southward last monday, so i am 8 days in.. here is what i am doing:.
be careful on that 80/20 split... go to mypyramid.gov for a bit more balanced look....I also like dietary info published by The Biggest Loser...
anyone that knows me knows I don't need to lose hardly any weight ... I would like to be back at 130-135 which is where I am most comfortable, but I am at 140-145... I am short and thin.... summer time I usually lose it...
I heard the other day that if a food item has more than 5 ingredients, and any of those are HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), then avoid it... shop the perimeter of the grocery store ....its on the perimeter because it has to be stocked daily.... .the stuff in the center is stocked for the long-haul and has tons of preservatives...
I am emptying my house of all the prepackaged foods and replacing them with tons of fruits and veggies... lean skinless chicken and turkey, seafood that I can bake or grill..... and breads that are not made with HFCS.... I would like to eventually make my own bread from scratch...
good luck on your lifestyle change...because if it is a "diet", it won't last...

hi everyone, long time no post but i wanted your opinion on something please.. well a friend of mine has just got a corn snake.
its a baby but it will grow up to 6ft.
i never considered myself anti-snake because i know people do have phobias on them, but seeing it in action, including the way it eats, has really put me off - not only snakes, but also, the friendship.
***peeks in...see it is not about me...ducks back out. ***

what was i thinking my entire life?
during the first part about submission, everyone gave the same comments about being obedient to the elders even though you may not agree with them.
and they talked about submission to the organization no matter what.. no one, i mean no one raised the possibility that the counsel or instructions might be wrong, or harmful.
bonafide:
am getting that urge to stand up in the Kingdom Hall and yell.
yeah, this is why I don't go..no way in hell I keep my mouth shut now... which is why I am not an elder and won't go into management at work.

welcome back, cognac and gregor.
i'm afraid you're a little too late.
armageddon has come, invisibly of course.. the society has made a few changes to the leadership structure.
rebel8....LMAO...
I saw Snakes heading into an alley with Leah and heard some moaning afterwards. I wonder what that was all about.
I promise that no Happy Meals were harmed during the moaning.
In fact, I hear after Armageddon that McD's has been relegated to locations in a few square blocks of 124 Columbia Heights, a special circle of hell.
Governing Body: I'm not lovin' it.®
