Beliefs, Honesty

not too long ago, i heard a district overseer say, at a circuit assembly, something astonishing; that he would continue to be a jehovahs witness even if it was proven to him that god does not exist.

his point was the organization and its moral standards protect people from a lot of trouble and that this by itself is very positive aspect.

i could not forget such a statement and, just as an exercise, started to pose the following scenario to some of my friends, including several ministerial servants an one elder: if you some how determine that this is not the truth, would you continue to be a witness?

I'm not sure whether this is a massive problem but it must certainly affect quite a number of dubs. You find generation after generation who all follow suit because its all theyve ever known. But whether they really belive is anyones guess.

I think it takes a lot of courage to leave, when the soceity do a wonderful job of cutting members off from any outside assaociation, making people completely dependant on fellow witnesses for family/friends/socialization. To take a descisive step OUT whether that be by leaving quietly, DF or DAing a person must be feeling very strongly about the hypocrisy and conflicting teachings. This person knows that they will have to pay a heavy price for their 'rebelliousness', and that inevitabley is the loss of friends and family memebers. It can be quite scary to have to start over after many years in this cult, however the hardest part is making the discison itself to leave.

From reading this site, I can see that many agonise for years, as did I, before the final straw in the preverbial camels back causes the fading dub to make the decision! I can only speak from personal experience, that although it is undoubtably a life altering desicion, and it can be painful for a time, I now have peace because I stood up for my own convictions and took the consequences (losing family).

But I feel I have my dignity.

its been a while since i last posted on the site.. as a wittness i was governed by what i said was supposed to do and even act towards other human beings,my sinful life was ripped away by people using pages of the bible, showing what god wanted from me as a person,unfortunately being scriptually replaced by a character that i never realized, nor truth be told acceptable to jehovah god, but under the guise of a christian, we accept all that is brainwashed into our silly minds.

accepting all and everything without question,therfore this is known as being brainwashed, without you even knowing it iike so many within the congregation, was forced to adapt to a hidden manifesto which was be seen but not heard.

complain about any of the elders and you will be disfellowshiped, most of my time i was serving jehovah with a muzzle on my face which would only allow me to speak if i agreed with the elders i wasnot blind but what i saw and experienced as a wittness left me cold.

I feel much like anewme. Having DA's in Feb of this year, I can now see the beginingd of a more aassertive person. I have accepted that my family is lost to this god awfull religion, but I will not waste another second of my life worrying about the past and the things I cannot change.

I think it can be difficult at first; the religious mindset and programming is hard to get out of your head, but the feelings I had when I first went; feelings like 'well thats it, I'm dead/waiting to die' are begining to fade, and I can now look forward.

I do feel 'harder', 'tougher', and am not the totally unhappy person I was, when all I could see was the hypocrisy of a mind controlling religion and an overwhelming fear that if I left I'd lose my family.

I'm starting to love my life, and it feels wonderfull.

Best wishes to all of you here on this board who are 'fading' or questioning your religion. There is a wonderfull life to be had OUT of the borg, where you'll be free to think for yourself and what you say and what you do isn't constantly scrutinised to asses the level of your spirituality. Yes the journey may be hard, and inevitably your freedom will come at a price, sometimes a high price, but it really is worth it.

As an ex dub in the UK this is just one more instance of perverts being involved with theyre so called 'chrisitian brotherhood'

I for one will be e-mailing to my local newpaper, encouraging them to investigate instances of child perverts in Haslingdon (Bury),Little Hulton (mcr), Fanrworth (mcr), Radcliffe (mcr), Rose Hill (bolton).

These sickos are every where, and they expect the parents of children to sit with them and take it at the word of the 'elders' that they have been investiagetd and are of no threat to the children of that congregation. What the hell is wrong with these people? Cant they see whats under theyre own noses?

AND; what sort of distorted and inadequate parent would continue to allow their own flesh and blood to be exposed to this sort of person... to encourage their children to accept these men as 'brothers'? Given the publicity that these cases are bringing are the parents not complicit?

Potty training kids and different views...

when i was growing up, i remember my parents would put those plastic "cover" things over my sisters panties and put those protective sheets on the bed to help them with potty training.

especially when they were doing great with using the potty on their own during the daytime.. my aunt in texas would beat her kids arses if they wet the bed.

(now i do not agree with this way).

As a mother of 4, I would say that inevitabley accidents do happen. One of my four children went of the bed wet for quite some time before he stopped completely.

What I used to do was always 'lift' them when it was time for me to go to bed. The kiddy had already been asleep for a few hours at that point and were very drowsy.

Plonk them on the loo, tell them do 'wee wee's' and pop them back into bed. Theyre so drowsy they go straight back to sleep.

Worked a treat!

sometimes the meetings encouraged "variety" in family studies, assigning certain research projects to different family members, or setting up a bible reading as though it were a play.. none of that happened in my family.

it was just dry question-and-answer.

My dad who was a ms, always used to end up losing his temper, and shouting at us! I think its coz he didnt really belive himself.

Pile of ***t, what a waste of everyones time! Then you get these really 'perfect' demos at the convention of lovely little families, showing us how is should be done!

I sometimes wonder how many of those perfect families are still in the 'truth'?

the magazines were talking about nuclear war and its impending disaster.

so ken little introduces himself and says "good morning sir,did you know that every minute they spend millions of dollars on the manufacturing of weapons......" the homeowner looks straight at him and says "yeah?

the part covering that insert took up the entire service meeting (aside form the announcements).

the "encouragement" was that the us branch had set a goal of 160,000 auxiliary pioneers for the month of april ("if only one of every 6 publishers signs up, we can make it!")..

I Das'd four months ago. Thought I'd add both my reasons and the consequences of this.

I hadn't been to kingdon hell for over a year, when I got a phone call out of the blue requesting the two elders visit me. I know the reason for this is they had heard I was about to undergo a re-hab course for alcohol dependency. However I did not request their so called 'help', and made it clear they were to stay away from me until I had sorted myself out.... which I did. (I am now alcohol free!!, and intend to stay that way). The alcohol dependency had gradually taken hold over a few years. I would come out of the kh and need a drink to calm me down!

However after the hypocrisy and double standards that I have seen in this awful cult over the years there was no way I was going to allow them to give me a 'push' out of the doors. So I chose to walk, and I walk with dignity, having freed myself from the oppresive weights, and lies that have been forced upon my and my children. I 'choose' not to have my children sit with know poedophiles and be obliged to smile meekly at these grotesque men who are cosseted by a corrupt and manipulative leadership.

Yes, I know that it is I who am considered to be a nothing, but I will live with that, because I have set my children and myself free.

The consequences were, that for a period of time I felt very low. Having battled my addiction, and with a sobre mind I had to realise that my mother would never have anything to do with me again. Also the beleif systems that have been with me all my life told me that I was now 'dead', or waiting to die. I can't say that the effects of the indoctrinations have completely subsided, and realistically this aspect of my recovery will take some time, however, I will die with my dignity, my head held high, because as much as I feel scared at the result of my 'walking away', I would rather die than be forced to go along with certain doctrin's which I will always believe are utterly wrong.

Incidently on the two occasion when I have seen 'whitlesses' in the supermarket only for them to blank me (... these pople would treat Hitler better than me)... where have they been????? going down the acohol aisle of course!!

At least I admit what I am.

But I'm not bitter
