Thanks for sharing your feelings. It will get better.
The BORG and its minions are true experts at grinding down people's self esteem.
That's why so many people end up feeling unworthy and in utter dispair.

i am not going to use any names for this because i don't want to cause potential hurt to anyone.. there was a very nice family in my congregation when i was a teenager.
step-dad, mom, and her 4 kids.
the dad became an elder, had a great business, the mom spent lots of time with the kids.

Thanks, Baba...very sad.
Dagney,
Thanks for sharing the story. Do you think it was guilty feelings that drove them to it?
difference between scientific laws, hypotheses, and theories: http://wilstar.com/theories.htm.
hypothesis: this is an educated guess based upon observation.
it is a rational explanation of a single event or phenomenon based upon what is observed, but which has not been proved.
It's all about being intellectually honest with ourselves.
For many, to accept the overwhelming evidence for evolutionary processes that have been at work on the earth for 2.5 billion years, raises the horrifying possibility that maybe we were not specially created, maybe this is all there is, maybe there is no life after death, no heaven or hell.
In fact maybe there is nothing so special about humans...we just happened to end up the top dogs with the big brains during the last geologic blink.
Even considering the possibilities is so scary for many people they prefer to do the whole ostrich head-in-the-sand exercise.

in the recent past i have recalled many kindnesses shown me as a younger man.
i probably said "thank you" at the time of a person's single kind gesture or act [polite thank yous were expected of 50s children]; some older people have acted on my behalf, however, over a period of time in ways that shaped me in a favorable way.
i couldn't have been aware at the time that their nurturing or mentoring me would have such far-reaching results.. several years ago it occurred to me how instrumental an older person's generosity toward me as a child put me where i am today.
I agree.
first thanks to all for this board and forum and all the stories, information and thoughts that are shared.
