How about this one--I mentioned this on another thread last year to the utter of disbelief of the posters who read it:
Back in the late 60s and early 70s when a VW beetle was one of the standard issue pioneer vehicles, I witnessed some of the GB arriving like rock stars at the District Convention in a verrrrrrrrrrrry stretched chauffer-driven Lincoln Continental limo.
When I asked the sister (she and her elder husband were in the twoof forever and were very well connected to the BORG heavies) who studied with Mom, why the GB didn't show the kind of humility that Jesus did...why didn't they drive vehicles like a VW Beetle....like all of the self-sacrificing pioneers I knew???
Her answer: They are princes (as the anointed and future members of the 144,000) among us so they deserve to be treated like royalty and supplied with the very best in accomodations and transportation.
Wow!!! I swallowed that (although in my defense, I was only 14 years old).
How pretentious, pompous, and self-righteous can you get. Talk about the Pharisees.....

It's pretty clear that over the years the BORG's stock in trade is pulling dates and interpretations out of their collective ass. Or, to be more theocratically precise their "composite" ass.
What is probably brewing is exactly what you've suggested--they are setting up their ducks so that they can distance themselves from unsustainable explanations and also deny/rewrite BORG history.

And, wjhat about the way they shoehorned every possible thing the BORG did into some prophecy? And, the more obtuse and ambiguous the prophecy the better!!!
Remember the Jonadab Class? WTF was that all about.
It actually feels good that I can't even remember the weird interpretations the BORG spun on everything.
I especially loved the justifications that the BORG offered for Jehovah overlooking the grossest and most perverted stuff committed by his servants. Like Lot knocking up his daughters, David having a nice young chick to keep him warm (sure???.... she was doing a lot more than warming him up) when he got old, Judah sexing up his daughter-in-law.
What about the reasoning that oral sex is wrong because it immitates the acts of homosexuals and lesbians?
The one that takes the cake is Beth Sarim and that it was provided for the imminent resurrection of the prophets and the patriarchs.

attorney general holder was speaking at a press conference wednesday about operation xcellerator, a crackdown on mexican drug cartels, when a reporter asked him about the dea's stance on the raids.
the reporter mentioned some raids that occurred right after the inauguration but before holder's confirmation, then he asked holder if he would continue the raids policy under his tenure.. .

This country has bigger fish to fry than to worry about marijuana users whether they are medical or recreational users.
It is amazing that the lessons learned during prohibition haven't been applied to marijuana.
In fact, for that matter, all drugs should be legalized to undercut the criminal profits and the associated violence.
People are going to use mind altering substances and no amount of legislation is going to change human nature or the problems that arise when trying to do so.

What is the general "mood" these days of Dubs at meetings and assemblies?
by Alpaca ini haven't been inside a kingdom hall since 1998. back then, the change in the 1914 "generation" teaching was still sinking in and the "mood" then was one of confusion and head-scratching about what it all meant.. it is difficult for me to imagine how the "mood" now could be anything other than one of disappointment and doubt...even if it is not openly expressed.. do you think at some point there will be critical mass of doubts (and doubters) that will just start spilling out when dubs realize that others around them feel the same way?.

I had forgotten about that until I saw garybuss's post.
In South Florida, every year without fail (1970s and 80s), the local news shows would air similar napping sessions when they were reporting on the conventions.
The outside assemblies at the Hialeah Dog Track or Gulfstream Racetrack were brutal---temps in the high 90s and the sessions lasted forever. You would be literally soaked with sweat the whole day. There were always at least one or two paramedic calls.
On a more serious note, I think the observations are "point on" about effect of 2014 and the lack of males willing to shoulder the burden of responsibilties. Also, without some central theme or purpose (e.g., imminent GT, backed up with some scriptural hocus pocus pseudoscholarship) to solidify the movement it is hard to keep the R&F enthusiastic.
