Well OK then. I will announce to the world (anonymously of course) that I am just nuts about this guy Brother Apostate. I wonder if he knows just how much entertainment value there is in these comments of his. Instead of being, what, 107 years old now, he winds up to be 2 years younger than I am...but WHAT WISDOM!!!! As for myself in 50 years I will either be healthy as can be planting gardens, playing bridge with the girls, delivering on my route (Thanks AGAIN WTS), or I will be found in my house as a skeleton that had been gnawed on for the past 3 years by my four cats who are mummified laying next to me on the bed...anyone's guess as to what the future holds on this year. I will be having a party Dec. 23, 2012 if anybody is interested...

You Never Did Enough As A Witness!
by minimus inone thing that i will never miss is how you were made to feel inferior----that nothing you did was ever really good enough to satisfy the organization and of course by extension, jehovah god.
i know of sooooooo many witnesses that are truly depressed because they can never seem to satisfy god or the elders.. people even start getting mysterious illnesses and believe the "demons" are always trying to get at them.
the mentality is that "everyone hates us because we're jehovah's witnesses".

Every picture tells a story. Just take a good look at pictures from when you were in. I looked completely exhausted and I was. No matter what your circumstance, from the outside it would seem that you could pioneer or do more. "Quit your job and pioneer!" I remember hearing...yet my clean laundry was still in the basket while the dirty laundry started to pile up on top of it. RELATE anyone???

Brenda really makes me laugh! The Rosanne Barr gum chewing, loud crunching of the bread, gulping of the wine...it would have been interesting to see the reaction of the people around her instead of the religiously correct wallpaper border we all know so well.

Ever notice how interested worldly friends were to hear you'd left...zzzzzz
by Gregor inthe first few years after i got my head out of my jw ass i assumed that worldly associates would be fascinated to hear of my escape....wrong.
most of them looked at me like "what the f--- are you talking about?"...
"who cares?

Talking to a worldly person about having once being in the witnesses is a lot like telling them you spent time in prison. Just embarassing. Unnecessary also, as they perceive the witnesses to be just another religion.

FASCINATED BY THE REALITIES YOU'VE SEEN HERE...BUT TERRIFIED TO POST?
by nvrgnbk innot to worry brothers and sisters, we've all been there.

When I first got out I would come visit the site. Five and a half years later I decided to come on mostly because there were some on the board that I wanted to thank for helping me. The best description for the help I got was that it was like warm honey being poured on my heart, whether it was a sad story or the crazy humor that I got from this site, it felt so good to know that I wasn't alone.

Name Things Witnesses Make Big Deals Over
by minimus inhave you ever seen a witness get absolutely giddy over placing a measly tract with a neighbor and get up on the platform and tell the "experience" of how the neighbor actually said that he'd read it!
big deal!!!.
in our hall, they loved to applaud over the dumbest things!

How "little" does it take to make you happy?
by JH insome people seem to need a lot to be happy, while others are happy just with the minimum.. what small thing made you happy lately?
your husband perhaps.... .
ok, for me, a sunny warm day, and i'll be outside and walking around and happy.

Life is a joy when it takes little to make you happy. I have a greater appreciation for life and the people in my life now. It is amazing how a change of colors in a room can make a difference. Feeling blue? A hot bath, scented candles, cuddling cats, a glass of wine, hot soup, and a funny movie. A BA in psychology, and that's my recipe for happiness.

Five and a half years later and I still want to be a fly on the wall in people's lives that I used to be involved with. Anything else at the hall I don't miss...I was pretty good at working a room and involving everybody. Cliques are a problem in every congregation. I can't imaging how boring it would be to not visit at meetings. What else was there?

No more fiendish punishment could be devised
by slimboyfat inno more fiendish punishment could be devised, if such a thing were physically possible, than that one should be turned loose in society and remain absolutely unnoticed by all the members thereof.
if no one turned around when we entered, answered when we spoke, or minded what we did, but if every person we met cut us dead and acted as if we were nonexistent things, a kind of rage and impotent despair would before long well up in us, from which the cruelest bodily torture would be a relief.

I do like to use the word "quit" in reference to my leaving. When you understand the consequences of a choice and do it anyway, it is your decision, and yes, I didn't want those people in my life anymore. They were angry at me because they felt I chose my life over helping them with theirs. I no longer participated in the "pity party"....the religion where the more you suffer, the better chance you have of making it.
