What Things Would You Not Have Done As A JW That You Would Do Now?
by minimus inas witnesses, we were very concerned that we might offend somebody's conscience and our actions reflected that.
if someone might've been "stumbled" by our actions or speech, we would make sure we would do everything possible to not upset another fellow brother or sister.. i would not have gone to an "r" rated movie.
now, i go to any rated or unrated movie because i don't give a sh*t what smeone might feel over my choice.. what things are you free to do without worrying that someone might be disturbed over it?

I just remembered how my dad one day told me I should go in field service on Saturday and Sunday mornings to support the group. -- I was a freaking regular pioneer and I did my time during the work week. But that wasn't good enough, the brothers had to see that I was going out in field service and supporting the arrangement. My dad was the PO, btw. Boy that memory just pissed me off!!!!

CHRISTIANS AND THIER PERSISTING PROBLEM WITH MILK
by fedorE ingrrr..... prayer.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk6ilzaaami.
the message is that prayer is a coincidence.
does implying god is imaginary just because prayer is a coincidence make it fair assumption?

The method most Christians use in prayer is technologically wrong. The science of real prayer has been virtually lost for approximately 1600 years. All people do now is ask for stuff, thank God for what they do have, and praise Him a little.
Journey-on, I am curious, what is the proper way to pray?

The meeting tonight was UNBEARABLE
by Orgull ini had my tms tonight.
for those who don't know me, i no longer believe, but have only just begun my slow fade.. the meeting was unbearable.
first there was the brother who happily pointed out that i'd missed two meetings recently and that he was keeping track.

Great post Orgull. Reminds me of when I started my fade. So glad I am no longer there.
Make people uncomfortable, but do not offend. Sooner or later you will be pushed to the social fringes, and from there, you can drop off the map. If you fade away as their darling, they will all wonder, "Where did he go?"
That is some great advise SirNose. I wish I had that gold nugget when I started my fade.

Is it ok to shun Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Missanna inlet me explain myself... for instance when your friends and family keep changing their minds... like my sister she didn't want to talk to me, then we started talking again and now she is back to shunning me.
same with my once best friend we were fine with each other's beliefs then one night she tells me in order to have god's favor she has to shun me.
now she's talking to me again.

First, Missanna, I love the new avatar. And the previous one.
I would go with the humor first.

She and her school system should be ashamed. Miss Teen USA 2007 Contest
by HappyDad ini could make comments about her being a dumb blonde but i won't, do to the fact that my own daughter is blonde, pretty, and intellegent.
but this girl and her school system where she supposedly got an education should be ashamed.
if this were my daughter or one of my students..........i would hang my head!

They don't ask them questions cause they think these girls are our brightest. The whole point of asking the contestants questions in front of a large audience is to see how they maintain their poise. She dropped the ball. No excuses. I would comfort her though....

What do I do when jw wife feels down / "uninterested" in spiritial things?
by Check_Your_Premises inevery so often, say once or twice a year, my wife gets kind of down.. she goes through a period of inactivity in her jw duties.
it usually has to do with field service.
she hates field service.

Dont attack or even mention anything about religion. Show her a good time. Take her out. Distract her mind. Make her happy. Let her see for herself where the sadness is coming from. It will take time, but she will realize it. I did.

Paedo cases in the org and pioneers.......
by jambon1 inhave you ever sat at a convention or assembly and heard an experience from the platform about how some asswipe pioneer received a bundle of cash for their car repairs, "just in time to keep going in the pioneer service".
or some other form of material advantage, credited to god as the provider.. now, let's for a wee minute, assume that these were actual blessings from god.
he actually took action.

This kind of reasoning where you assign direct action to god for good things happening (like £200 dropping through your letterbox cos youre a pioneer that needs a tank of petrol), by logical extension makes you blame him when bad things happen.
Agree 100%. That's how you start getting resentful towards God. You start to wonder how come he's not bailing you out or protecting you from "bad" things. Which is really your own responsability, not God's.
A more mature attitude is to live according to your values regardless of whether you may get disfellowshiped or not, or whether God will bless you or not.
