Sept KM anti study
by hurricane ini would like to extend a big thankyou to those posting on the forum who are in fact helping to educate us all with explanations of the scriptures that we may not have previously considered.
channel c is also good for this.. a christians life should be one of continual searching, testing, confirming as this leads to a deeper and firmer faith which can challenge firmly entrenched viewpoints.when i first started to study in 1966 i almost emptied my local library and spent ages in the british museum confirming my new found beliefs, this approach may well be frowned on now.
has anyone done independant research on revelation and thrown in a few maverick comments at the group study, i found out some interesting info regarding the congregations and cities jesus addressed and included them in my answers.

God help me - Just finished Crisis of Conscience
by Orgull ini don't know whether to laugh or cry.. a friend lent me coc yesterday and i stayed up most of the night reading it.
it took me 13 hours and i skipped the meeting today to keep reading, i couldn't bear to put it down.. i am shocked but not surprised at how closely ray's thinking mirrors my own in some ways.
the part that hit me hardest was.... "conviction, it has no meaning or validity unless it is individual, personal.

You can be Disfellowshiped for being too FAT!!!!!
by Witness 007 inwatch 74 p.167 "by disobediently overindulging in food and making a glutton of himself, he fails to show love for jehovah god...is food a big thing in his life?
if in the presents of others, does he selfishly ignore thier needs and take far more then his share?
is he grossly overweight but shows no restraint at all as to food, habitually gorging himself?

I've never heard of this rule being enforced. It would be difficult to say the least. And their numbers would suffer.
Exactly. They'll never enforce this cause they would have to df too many people. Can you imagine three fat elders disfellowshipping someone for gluttony. Yeah, just because you're fat doesn't mean you're a glutton, but still.
(That's right, the But Still argument.)

Roommate seems to have a hard time going to the meetings
by oppgirl63 inmy roommate seems to have the hardest time making it to the sunday meetings...and that's the only one she goes to anymore.
i went to wake her this morning and she didn't want to go and asked me if i would carry her service card (or whatever it's called) to the kh for her.
i told her no...i didn't want to talk to those people.

When she's ready, introduce her to this site. I can't wait to meet her and hear her story.

Did the time come when it became unbearable to walk in the Kingdom Hall?
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini didn't attend any meetings in the month of august.
i worked too many hours and i just don't care any longer.
just the thought of driving 45 minutes, greeting brothers and sisters who don't really care about each other, singing the dreadful songs, listening to the boring talk(which are repeats of a repeat),going over the slanted watchtower study and then driving another 45 minutes home.. how did you feel when you knew that it was becoming unbearable to attend another meeting?.

I just couldn't bring myself to do it anymore, because I would essentially be violating my own integrity.

Fading? What's up?
by arker ini was a jw, finally saw my chance and wrote a letter to the elders saying how bad i am and how i don't want to meet to discuss it and to df me if you want.
that was the end of it for me.
my question is if you know you are "fading" you are already gone so why not make the leap?

Folks, the Bible doesn't offer any clear guidance on this issue. As such, it is a conscience matter. No one should be judged. In the end, we shall all be judged individually, before God's throne.
Seriously, I appreciate the people that remain on the inside after they Awake! They perform a valuable service to the community. First, they keep those of us who cannot stomach to sit through the meetings informed. That's important to me cause my wife is still inside. I need to know what bullsh!t they have fed her recently, but there's no way in hell I can take more than about 5 minutes meeting time. The people who are still on the inside are able to provide us with that information.
Second, some of them are willing to help others on the inside (family members or not) to discover the truth. So even though they appear to be supporting the beast, they are in fact, working to destroy it. Even if all they're doing is creating extra work for the hounders, or being no-shows for their talk, it is still disruptive.
Lastly, maybe some are hedging their bets. It's strategy. I defenetly don't want to live in the new world, cause I think it would be boring as hell under the Jehovah regime. But maybe some can be happy there. So what if they are living a watered down version of the truth? If they can get away with it and enjoy living in a paradise on earth, good for them! Enjoy the abundance of fruit, but you won't be able to masturbate!! What's wrong with hedging your bets?
(This thread is already a couple of days old. Is anyone reading this? Cause I just spent quite a bit of time on this post....)

I'm on a bit of a mission
by PaulJ inthose who don't know my story- was brought up a jw, married young (dumb idea), divorced, kinda fell for the 1st person that came along, that didnt work, now kinda sat pondering where the hell the past decade has gone!
i'm on the hunt for some of my old friends, both people that have had the sense the leave the jw's as well as my old mates from school and college that were good friends- and must of put up with some weird behavior from me (no xmas and birthday cards, no attending of birthday parties etc etc).
i've managed to get into contact with one or 2 which is great, especially one who asked if i was still aa jw , which i was so pleased to be aable to say i wasn't!

I was looking to chat with ex-jw's whom I grew up with via this site, but it looks like the fine people of Boston, MA don't have internet access yet. Oh well. So I know what you mean about seeking the old friends. Good luck!

The most irritating dub(s) you had to put up with?
by greendawn infor me it was a ministerial servant a real boor who always told me off and humiliated me for all sorts of silly reasons whenever i went to the fs group that he headed.
i soon stopped going there.
he even gave talks that were incredibly boring and brain duling and not surprisingly i recently heard that in his mid fourties he abandoned his aging wife who was of a similar age and run away with a woman in her early twenties that is half his age.

Some would have their hand up nearly every bloody paragraph.
Ouch! That used to be me. It was the only way I could keep from going crazy from the boredom!

If Your Spouse Told The Elders On U, Is That a Marital or Religious Problem
by minimus inif a faithful devout jw saw her husband on a board like this or reading "apostate" literature, if she was so disturbed by her husband's actions and the husband justified himself, would you think that if she told the elders because she was truly concerned that her mate was going to leave "the truth" and ultimately not make it into the "new system", --------that this was simply a marital issue-----not a religious one?.
your opinions please..

It all depends upon how brainwashed the wife is. When I think back about all the stupid stuff I did and beleived while I was brainwashed! I can hardly beleive I was that stupid!! So if the wife is really brainwashed, then I would blame the brainwashing not the wife. Now, if she already nows the religion is BS and is just trying to get back at you or something, then I would say it is a marital issue.
