  Fluff topic: Summer gardening

  how is your garden growing?.

  my herb garden finally took off, and i have grasshoppers the size of mice.

  "4 inches" they have totally eaten up my dill plants, both about 3 feet tall.

  My garden is off to a slow start because of all the rain we're having. Everything seems to be drowning. I have mice or moles coming in eating seeds and strawberries. I use a homemade organic pesticide made with water and ground red pepper, but the rain washes it off.

  I have two 30 foot by 30 foot garden plots at the community garden less than half mile from my house. I'm growing cucumbers, summer squash, zuchini, spaghetti squash, peas, greenbeens, beets, turnips, strawberries and it's my first season for asparagas which seems to have drowned.

  I also have more than fifty tomato plants left and about 90 garlic plants. Garlick is so good fresh from the garden, I can't get enough of it.

  I'm getting married!

  about 6 months ago i started dating a non-witness.

  our relationship has grown quite quickly and a few weeks ago i proposed to her.

  we are now in the midst of wedding and house-buying plans.

  The Watchtower Didn't Make Me An Atheist

  ive posted on this before, but i figured i should lay my thoughts out again on the subject.

  there are some in the ex-jw community who are saddened because the watchtower organization has turned me and others like me off to god.

  the watchtower attacks and debunks other religions on a regular basis, often giving us the sense that if the watchtower is wrong, then there cant be a god.

  I'm sure I would not have believed in God regardless of what religion I was raised in. My father, (a JW) just didn't have and was unable to aquire the ability from the WTS to brainwash me or anyone else into believing in God. Sad that many people were raised by parents with that ability. Sad to think they grow up and use the ability to brainwash their own children.

  "Jehovah is the one and only true God". Listen to that over and over, meeting after meeting, year after year. I'm not surprised that some become Athiests after leaving the Witnesses.

  hi im new here but i came for advice im not a religous person but i'm in love with a jehovahs witness,.

  she says she also loves me very much but she wants me to jump ship and become a witness,.

  do you think there is some way that the two of us can be together or am i just dreaming,.

  he never asks me spiritual questions... but, he just did, and i don't know what to say.. he asked what the issue of sovereignty has to do with us?

  why do we have to suffer because of what satan did?

  satan has been proven a liar over and over again, so why do we have to keep paying the price?

  I wish there was a logical, clear cut answer to all of this...

  There is, although the answer is as individual as there are individuals. For each his own.

  A definition of sovereignty is supremacy. I look at three roads ahead of me and choose the best for me. Do I want to be a leader? Do I want to be a follower? Or do I want to be me?

  I choose to be me. I think highly of "myself" because no one will think highly of anyone who doesn't.

  i stumbled on this as we do sometimes as we go from point to point searching out something in particular.

  in this case i was looking at proverbs 27:11 because of the way it was used/misused in the tower study covered by blondie and ended up reading this.

  First the 13 year old. She is old enough to tell her part time dad that she spends most of her time living with her mother, under her roof, she will dress and do things mom approves of. And, reluctantly sometimes, the things she requires.

  Now the 8 year old. "Yah, what she said!"

  so as not to further the "head cheese thread," i'm starting this one because of something narkissos mentioned about a fricative consonant.. it's like an f or s, produced by forcing air through our teeth.. that got me to thinking about the test the gileadites gave to the ephraimites in judges 12.. judges12: 5 -6 gilead captured the fords of the jordan at the crossing to ephraim.

  if an ephraimite fugitive said, "let me cross," the men of gilead would ask, "are you an ephraimite?

  '" but he would always say, "sibboleth"he couldn't say it right.

  How do y'all pronounce Thames?

  I say, Tames. But I'm from New England where we say cah so I probably say it wrong. I never say bear. It's Bud, Buddy, brew, medicine or liquid lunch.

  Your opinion please

  just wondering what all of you experts would do if you were in my shoes and of course i realize we are all different and there is no right answer.. i was a jw for over 3 decades and very active, served mostly as elder for those many years.... won't give you all the details but wife divorced me for being an "apostate" "spiritual endangerment" even though there was.

  no ground for scriptural divorce.

  i was never df or da.. she's waiting for me to commit adultery and write a letter for her to be given to the elders.

  Don't write the letter. What goes on in your personal life is your business. When I was a teen I was never kiss and tell.

  If you remarry, then she will have what she needs for a scriptural divorce without a letter.

  Side note; if your paying alimony, give her the letter, the sooner she remarries, the sooner the alimony stops.
