All of us here know the power of words. I think that today we use a lot of words that prevent our society from evolving. Our language is loaded with labels that prevents us from seeing certain realities. Some words we use causes separation and hatred. Ex.: Race and racism. There is no such thing when it comes to humans, we are all the same race. By using the word racism we label it. Why don't we just say human hater? Because that's what it really is. The same goes with sexuality. Homosexuality in my opinion does not exist. It is just an other label. It is all normal part of human sexual behaviour. By categorising it we create a difference in our minds and it automatically becomes "abnormal". The same goes with religion, citizenship and so on. Any way that was my rant for the day. Waiting to hear some comments.

Do You Clearly Understand That "The Truth" Is Nothing But Bullcrap?
by minimus inwhat a waste of living being "in the truth" was!
sometimes i see persons suggesting that the witness religion isn't all so wrong.
actually they suggest that they themselves are the issue.

Sometimes I see persons suggesting that the Witness religion isn't all so wrong. Actually they suggest that they themselves are the issue. They've gone out of the "spiritual paradise" and now they're doing some unchristian things, maybe like smoking, drugs, sex and too much fun.
To anyone that feels guilty over leaving the religion or becoming inactive, I have to wonder what's wrong with you?
Can YOU see that the Witnesses are nothing but a scam? That they indeed are "false prophets"??
I think people like that obviously have self esteem issues. They are not completely deprogrammed. I bumped into a old JW friend not so long ago. She is dfed, she left her husband for a other man who was married and has a few kids. She said she is happy now and that she was depressed for so long before. I said to her that I was happy she realised that the WT was full of crap. She said to me "no, no I want to go back I still think it's the truth" WTF? How can you completely accept that you must do the opposite of what your are taught to be happy and then turn around and say it's the truth? Mind control.

What does one need to interpret the Bible?
by insearchoftruth ini have posted some thoughts on this on earlier threads, but the pesky jws have approached my wife about a bible study again, but my wife has let them know that this time she wants to learn how to read the bible and then after she is able to do that, she may consider some of the other books.
i have a couple of concerns about this, firstly, from what i know, the jws consider reading thier literature on a par with reading the bible, in fact i am pretty sure that they will try to lead her back to the bible teach book and let her know that she is in essence getting the same 'food' this way as she would another way.. secondly, if she decides to study the bible, the questions from readers that has recently come out all but prohibiting independent bible study will most likely come into play.
witnessgirl provided a good course on this, let my wife know that we are going to read the bible, not study, which could be a loophole (but i doubt if she asks a jw about that they would see a difference, but my stubborn wife may), but i think my wife would say she wants to study, not read....... a pesky jw provided her with her copy of the insight books and she also has the reasoning book, but i want her to actually feel she can read the bible and take from it what the literature presents in itself, not the slant that any organization or person wants her to take from it, even though if she reads the nwt version (or really any version for that matter) there is already a man provided slant.

Before reading or even trying to understand the bible I suggest you research the bible itself, it's origin, it's history, how it came to be and who had power over it. If your are going to use an ancient book as a guide in your life I think it would be a good idea to learn about it and not what a religion has to say about it.

An attempt at reconciliation.
by AK - Jeff inmy cousin - who was also my best friend for 35 years have been involved in an email exchange in recent weeks.
previous to that he was mostly shunning me.
without getting into details, he had given me room to explain things, especially as to how i have 'changed' as a result of leaving.

After reading that if someone does not understand it is because they don't want to understand. Very well written.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?
The Bible, of course, makes no direct comments on modern-day assisted reproductive procedures. It does, however, enable us to know God’s view on certain key issues. And knowing the answers to two basic questions can guide true Christians in making decisions that are pleasing to God.
When does human life begin? The Bible indicates that life begins at conception. Note the words of the psalmist David, who was inspired to say of God: “Your eyes saw even the embryo of me, and in your book all its parts were down in writing.” ( Psalm 139:16 ) Consider also Exodus 21:22, 23 , where the original-language text indicates that a person would be held accountable for injury to an unborn child. The lesson to be learned is that our Creator views life as precious, even during the very early stages of development in the womb. In God’s eyes the willful destruction of an embryo would be viewed as abortion.%
Are there any restrictions as to how one’s reproductive powers may be used? God’s view can be found at Leviticus 18:20 , which says: “You must not give your emission as semen to the wife of your associate to become unclean by it.” The underlying principle in that Scriptural decree is this: A man’s semen should not be used to inseminate anyone other than his wife, and a woman should not bear a child for someone other than her own husband. In other words, the reproductive powers are not to be used for someone other than one’s marriage mate. True Christians, therefore, avoid surrogate motherhood as well as any procedures that involve the use of donated sperm, eggs, or embryos.^
When making a decision involving assisted reproduction, true Christians must weigh carefully what the Bible reveals about God’s thinking.** After all, he is the Originator of marriage and family life.— Ephesians 3:14, 15 .
% See the article “The Bible’s Viewpoint: When Does Human Life Begin?” in the October 8, 1990, issue of Awake!
When I first read this I said to myself that this is in no way any body's business but the people involved. I also was thinking of the so many times in the bible the Israelites (Abraham for example) would "use" an other woman for having a child or the story of Lot and his daughters. I though that the bible was not that clear on the matter.

It's funny I got that feeling when I stop trying to "find" him and decided to just live and let live. Not believing for me was the deliverance. I feel at peace with myself and the world around me.

As Much as I hate to say this,I am glad for have being a J Dub
by SuperApostateGirl ini know this sounds crazy however being raised a jehovah's witness gave me the tools of respect for my fellow man.
also my parents had a huge role as well,of course.. i just find today there are soo many twisted people who are amused by the sickest of circumstances and pride themselves on belittling people.i mean i am the first to say.
i love funny sarcasm and making fun of the jehovah's witness religion because i believe in my heart its a crazy cult and way out in left field.

I believe that we all have our strength and weaknesses. Things that happen to us during our lives will influence one or the other. I know of people raised in the org. who turn out very bad, no honor, no respect for others. I know some that left and turn out very good. I know a lot of people who were never raised in any religion who turn out very good. The important thing I believe is that you have found peace with all of it. I have found a different way of making peace with what I have lived through.

It's funny how he calls you an idiot and then he says that you are to smart for your own good. It's funny that they don't see that they admit that you must ignore certain things and shut off parts of your brain to believe. They call it faith.

WTF makes you annointed?
by gloobster inok, so i have a serious question.
probably my first on here, but this has always bugged me, and i've never received a satisfactory answer.. how does someone become annointed?
when i was a child, my grandpa, who was an elder, told me that if you are of the annointed, you just know.

The younger ones that I knew were on the narcissistic side. They were full of them self and like attention. Some also I knew were a bit wonky. If they get a "feeling" that they are anointed I think it's just indigestion.
