were you ever told to do things that had no bearing on the scriptures or even policies of the watchtower?.
we had one co who upon inspection insisted that the body of elders and servants be cleaven shaven, cut their hair and remove their sideburns.. i use to have a patch of hair under my bottom lip.

When I was in situations of trying to be intised into the slavery, I heard about the baptism without a beard or not being able to give talks with a beard, etc, and that was also a red-flag for me to do more research, and it just sounds wrong, right off the bat.
It's amazing that Jesus Christ would not qualify to be a JW under the WTS rules and regs. That should always be a tell-tale sign for them to cut and run, but somehow, it's explained away.

either because you had to attend one of the five meetings a week or had to go out in field service on the weekend?.

How fast would the shake-down artists like Jackson & Sharpton and others have jumped into the media to start yelling racism?
You see, if you're a white male in this country you are completely fair game for attacking verbally. This is fact, and you can't fight back because then you're a racist. Yet, no one goes after minorities that are doing it....it's "accepted".
My opinion: People abuse the word racist and apply it to all situations of human critiquing. "Racism" - Thinking & acting as if your race is superior to another race.
If you make comments about a group of peoples characteristics, or a feature on someone's face, people want to cry Racist or Racism. It's not applied correctly in my opinion.
Example: I'm white. I'll make a satement about 2 people -
1) "Look at the size of the Freckles on that guys face and can his hair be any more red"?
2) "That guys nose is pretty big and and look how dirty his dreadlocks are"
---Now, where was I being a Racist here? 1 is white, the other is black. Was I being racist to another white guy? Rediculous.
I don't like squash because of the way it looks & tastes. Am I a "vegetable-ist"?
You can have likes & dis-likes, various tastes for things, acknowledge differences in things, but when it comes to humans...watch out.

At my work, a female JW made the statement..." I'm proud I never went to skating rinks" ???
How is that anything to be "proud" of? So, this means she would look down on witnesses who ever did go to skating rinks and "mingled" with "worldly" kids?
To me it meant.."I'm proud I had some of my "being-a-kid" taken away from me"

I hope you know I meant, he was a nice guy in general, friendly. Has nothing to do with his low morals, and his abuse of women.
And my post is about 2 different JW's. The first is a current co-worker, the 2nd is one from 13 years ago.
You could have also called the 2nd a big jerk. He's since settled down, and is a cop.

"no smoking".... it defiles your body and goes against scripture.. so as a witness, when pushing this train of thought, did it ever occur to anyone that when ever you dug in to those fried eggs, bacon cheeseburgers, and gallons of icecream, you were doing the same exact thing?.
smoking over a long period of time can kill you.
eating artery congesting foods over a long period of time can kill you.
