Good analogy, Terry, at first glance. There is a difference in crime and sin/trespass obviously.Really, how so?Thinking about having sex with a child....sin
Molesting a child.....crime
Lusting after someone else's wife....sin
Raping her....crime
You can forgive the sin, but I don't believe you can ever forget the crime. And are we expected to? Some seem to be twisting scripture to make it sound like we CAN forget all of it. I don't think so. And I don't believe that is what we are supposed to do.
True love and compassion is not imbalanced and misplaced. If there is too much severity, cruelty and oppression results. If there is too much mercy creating an imbalance, there is weakness that allows and indeed facilitates great evil. Neither one is real love and only out of real love is forgiveness found.

That's the thing, Burns. There are crazies on both sides and all around. Go back a few decades. Most...indeed almost ALL political violence was from the far left. Yet, the liberals see THEIR violence somehow as more noble. Sheesh!

I can hardly stomach these kinds of threads anymore. The idiocy of anybody wanting to stop free disscussion and squash legitimate dissention because some crazy person perpetrated an horrendous act is beyond me!
Using a symbol for targeting to represent the areas we need to target for a change in leadership does not by any stretch of a sane person's imagination translate into killing someone. Anybody (left or right) that buys into this is just looking for something to help fulfill this administrations paranoid and narcissistic desire to shut down anybody that voices an opposing opinion.
There has been talk for months and months among the far left that certain media programs that lean right need to be shut down. How utterly ridiculous, but with this administration, nothing would surprise me. These people are off-the-wall-batshit crazy.

Something for you to consider, Farkel
by journey-on inif you decide not to continue telling your story, that is totally understandable to me after the comments from yesidid and dontplaceliterature.
however, the majority of us would love to hear the rest of it and i think you would love (even need) to write it.
i'm sure you are well aware that the majority of us on this board have a certain kind of affection for you and respect, and we value your point of view and your opinions.

If you decide not to continue telling your story, that is totally understandable to me after the comments from yesidid and dontplaceliterature. However, the majority of us would love to hear the rest of it and I think you would love (even NEED) to write it. I'm sure you are well aware that the majority of us on this board have a certain kind of affection for you and respect, and we value your point of view and your opinions. I know that you already know that.
You only get to "know" someone over a length of time, and it takes more than a handful of posts to begin to understand a person, although without hearing them and seeing them face to face, you can never really get the complete picture. But you are one of those people that looms large and some of us would very much like to see the portrait painted with your own words.
Dontplaceliterature seems to me to be envious and self-absorbed....one of those people that just LOVES to hear himself talk. (You know the type I'm talking about.) In my personal opinion, he doesn't appear to be who and what he says he is. I get the feeling he's been here before, if you get my drift. I won't say anymore than that. I don't know what yesidid's problem is, but I'm betting it's more "political" than anything. For some, that carries over into other issues and they allow it to color EVERYTHING they think about you. Oh, well! She can suck big green ones, too, imho.
HERE IS MY POINT. Those kinds of people that try to pick you apart, criticize and berate you, may actually be beneficial to your telling your story in the long run. The negative nellies can sometimes expose those tender spots and help you look at parts you have hidden or repressed. If you can stand the criticism....if you can walk through the fire....it may actually help you write pieces of your story in ways you hadn't thought about before.
Whataya think?! (That's not a rhetorical question. I really want your answer and thoughts.) Anybody else?

Didn't Howard Dean recently say he didn't care of Obamacare is constitutional or not! That should tell you a whole whole lot! I think a lot of libs pretty much think this way.

Is God LOVE ?
by wobble inthe concept that "god is love" comes, for christians, from the letters of john.. on another thread p sac.
said "god is love, reconcile that with...(the matter being discussed in the thread, babies in hell) and then get back to me".. my question is, was john saying that the god of scripture is "love" , for that is mighty hard to "reconcile", or was he saying that when we humans "love" we have found the divine ?.

Faith and Trust sound like apple pie and a baby's soft underbelly. In fact, they are quicksand and a pit of snakes.
Faith and Trust are an excuse to be stupid and lazy about due diligence.
If I viewed Faith as simply a mental belief or emotional sentimentality, I would totally agree with your words above. However, faith is different from that. It is not blind trust. Faith is more like having a sense of a great mystery and feeling impelled to go on the quest to gain knowledge about that great mystery. You have a deep intuition of an experience not yet had. Faith is like the seed and the enlightenment or knowledge acquired is the fruit. Faith is the generator that leads to the experience, and the experience leads to new levels of faith. -

Love love love Miller!! I would love to see a comedy stand-off between him and Jon Stewart. Which one has more material to work with, I wonder?
Gotta remember this one: Cruella Demented and Pelosi Galore!
Funny stuff.

May take one more "generation" sorry to use that term, before we see it dead
According to the Pew Research Center, 64% of Generation Y, aka The Millennial Generation, believe in God. I don't know if this translates into "churchgoers" or not, but the majority still believe.
