There will come a time in their life when they will suddenly know with absolute certainty that they have listened to the words of man. They will realize that it was they themselves that destroyed their family, not the one that left the man-made-book-publishing-disguised-as-a-religion-real-estate-investment-business. They will burn with the inner torment of what they did to their gift of family and realize that all those scriptures that were used to support this unnatural act of shunning had been twisted and misapplied all the while thinking they were winning points with God. So sad.

Can I Just Say (Total "Fluff" and I Apologize in Advance)...
by AGuest inthat i hate being "sick"... that i'm tired of being "under the weather"... that i wish this "recovery" and infection would hurry the heck up... and that i am almost out of my mind with boredom... and the inability to do my "usual" stuff... almost to the point of kicking the dog(s) (no, i'd never do that, but i really want to kick something!)???.
rant.
can't help it.

Shelby, so sorry you are having difficulty accepting your down time :-) You evidently refused to take necessary rests on your own, so your body and spirit collaborated and forced you to do it. And yet...you're still fighting it. Indeed, Farkel must be right. You are one stubborn woman!
But, this, too, shall pass and you will be back up and running 90mph in no time, I'm sure. You have many many friends right here on this board sending positive vibes your way (or prayers, as the case may be). Stop and breathe them in and know you are loved and appreciated by so many, dear. I'll say it: May peace be with you....and joy...and patience....and whatever you need you heal your body and spirit...........journey-on

The River
by sabastious ininformation today runs through the neighborhoods of the world like a raging river and even the watchtower has no power to stop it from reaching their members.
that river is what swept me away.. a river is a two way analogy for my experience.
the apostate in me would say that, although highly painful and far too long, i am happy where the river washed me up and, now that my wounds have healed enough, i am starting to rebuild my life, for the better.

I like the symbolism of the river. It's a sign of the rhythm of change and movement. To get into the flow of life, you need to ride with tide and go with the flow. Don't fight the current so much and allow the river of life to carry you along. When you do this, you are able to focus on those things that float within reach of your grasp or pass in view of your sight. When you are always fighting the current, life is a struggle and that is what you tend to focus on. When you align your own free will with the Divine will, it is analogous to this....being born along by it.

DISCUSSION board.......or.....COMMENT board?
by Terry inthe following is only my own personal analysis.. take it or leave it.
but, by all means jump in and have a say.. .
i think more and more we are losing our grasp on a wonderful venue at jw-net.. as a discussion board, i mean.. at one time, there were a great many wonderful and interesting discussions by a variety of persons with varied backgrounds having a good.

Terry, you strike me as a Jack Webb kind of guy...."just the facts, ma'am, nothing but the facts". When one interjects opinion, emotion, feelings, or personal thoughts into the discussion, you're turned off, or worse, you discard it as irrelevent and inconsequential. IMO, you have difficulty relating to other ways of social expression that include things like intuition, faith, feelings, speculation and conjecture. You label it in a negative way which limits further discussion.
Personally, I like the free-flow and random interjections as long as the thread doesn't get totally hijacked.
If the topic is heavy and requires real debate with references and cut 'n paste sources, then, IMO, don't get involved in the thread if you're not willing to take the time to present your position properly and offer appropriate rebuttals. My only problem with these "heavy" discussions is that each side can find plenty of cut 'n paste support for their position. So, nothing changes. Nobody concedes anything. They just get tired of the discussion and it stops or digresses into name-calling and personal insults.
But, like others have said, everything that can be said has already been said and archived. Why rehash it? Even the newbies can look in "Best of Topics" and read the old and the new in depth discussions. I'm sure the early JWN was quite exciting, new, and challenging.
As far as my contribution to this board is concerned, I have had a few posters pm me with kind words of gratitude for something I have said but overall, I don't know what if anything my contribution has been.

Hi, Shelby. I actually thought of soldiers dying for their service when I posted my thought about dying for something guessed at. But, I put THAT in a different category than what this post is about......religious guesses and beliefs (the unseen).
I could lay out what I see as the differences, but that would be hijacking. Peace to you, my sister......journey-on

Perhaps these are REALLY revealing questions!
by Terry inwe treat the other differently the more we know about them.. if we meet a powerful official we act, talk and think differently while in their presence.
(rather than a homeless person, a gang member, a saleman, etc.).
how much more so this affects how we think and act concerning who we worship!.

Terry, have you ever walked into a room for a meeting, an event, or even a party and instantly "felt" the vibe in that room? If there is a negative energy (there's that word again) or vibration (vibe), you instantly feel it. (Some people do, anyway.) If there is an upbeat positive vibe, that, too, is palpable. However, there are people that are not tuned in to the subtleties of these vibrations or energy fields. They just don't have the "antenna" to detect it and until they physically interract with others in that room, they are clueless as to what the "mood" is in the room.
That's as close an analogy as I can come to describing what it means to live in the Light (God energy). It is not about religion, doctrines, beliefs, worship, or service. It's about resonance.
If THEY try to make YOU feel like a BAD MAN because you don't buy into their religion, their doctrine, or their way of believing, then perhaps it is THEY that need to readjust.

then, we are fundamentally
guessing and/or inventing. Dying for a belief in something we have guessed at is tragic. Asking people to live by or die for a guess or an invention is heinous.
Many a discovery of truth began as a guess or invention. It is human nature to seek answers, not just answers about our physical nature, but answers about our spiritual nature as well. Therefore, we will continue to wonder, to guess, to postulate. It moves us forward. But you are absolutely right...dying for a belief we have guessed at is tragic. Who would do that for real today other than the JWs with the blood issue?

Could it be that it was not doctrinal teachings that were the most important reason he was born into this world, baptized, annointed, crucified, and ascended? Afterall, if you believe what he said in the scriptures, his law was to love God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind; and to love your neighbor as yourself. That's all. His ministry for the masses was about this love, compassion, and forgiveness.
He gave his closest disciples (initiates), however, a deeper more escoteric mystery teaching after he began his ministry. From the age of 12 to 29, we are not told in our standard bible where he was, what he was doing, who was educating him, what travels he was embarking on....nothing. But when he returned, he was prepared and ready.
Could it be that the main purpose for his coming was to implement a shift in consciousness? To open/become a gateway or door for transformation and the transmission of a type of spiritual energy or light-force?
You have to admit that the world changed because of him and was put upon a new and different track. Periodically, throughout mankind's history, we experience these major shifts in thinking and feeling and the path switches or tracks in a new direction. I firmly believe our evolution is not only physical, but has a spiritual component as well.

I'm just interested in watching people think about what they already think.
Me, too.
I am constantly amazed and somewhat baffled by the fact that there are people that don't feel nor see a conscious force at work around them. I'm serious about this.
I can understand the rejection of the "biblical God" with all the doctrine and dogma that come from all the religious boxes that have been built to put people into, but I cannot fathom going through Life not cognizant of that "God" energy all around us. It's palpable (to me). They have thrown the baby out with the bathwater, imo! In their rejection of the traditional concept, they went blind. Their upward spiral fizzled out.
I try to flow through Life conscious of what is within me and what is outside me teaching, guiding, informing, and revealing. I have, at times, been blown away by an experience and the subsequent knowing that it came from something "apart" from ME. If those thoughts are to be hash marked, I would be losing too many things of value to me.

thetrueone, no offense, but Terry did not specifically indicate "the God of the Bible". Step outside your hatred of all things biblical, and contemplate for a moment with an open mind the possibility of an Infinite Power.
Gods have always been an expression of human ignorance of the world mankind lives in, past, present and most likely into the future .
Your above statement, thetrueone, may not be an accurate statement although you postulate it as a dogmatic fact.
Gods, or rather the concept of God, may actually be a part of man's evolution toward something higher. It takes thousands of years for evolution to become evident, and man's inititial acknowledgement of the creation process may have been expressed in a way that sounds archaic to us today, but it may actually have been the beginnings of an evolutionary spiral upward .
Over time, the expression may become more scientific sounding, but the Power we now call God, will not have changed. It will just be expressed in more modern scientific terms.
