The GB might truly believe (I don't really know), but I have a feeling the real powers behind the corporation/publishing company/real estate investors are laughing all the way to the bank at their "sheeple". They are, imo, the wolf using the rank and file sheep (and maybe even the GB) as clothing.

do you think the GB are wondering why armargeddon dosn't come?
by highdose inare they deluded enough to think that it must happen soon?
or are they just stringing everyone along?.
personaly i think that russell had good intentions and probably belived what he wrote ( although dosn't make it right) but i don't belive that any other gb has really belived the trash that is supposed to be the jw religon.

What is the actual PRODUCT being sold by Jehovah's Witnesses??
by Terry inmadison avenue became famous for selling the sizzle rather than the steak.. the point of advertising was to create an appetite for a product.. sometimes, in order to create desire for the product, advertising consisted of imposing an embedded fear that could only.
be resolved by purchasing the solution: the product.. .
four hundred and twelve billion dollars annually is spent on advertsing in the u.s. ($412 billion).

What really ended the book study in private homes?
by Alfred init's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.
although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...
but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?

I would bet dollars to donuts it was liability insurance issues and too much variation on local restrictions and license requirements on assembling for meetings to keep up with.
Also, I have often thought regular weekly organized meetings in a residential setting post 9/11 may have created some security concerns for law enforcement agencies.

Merrimack New Hampshire KH Project denied credit by WT seeks $ from others
by bnybyt inthe merrimack congregation in nh is seeking to buy land and build a new kh, the nh rbc has plans to build a $750,000 (that's right a three quarter million kh).
"the branch" has wanted to build a kh between the cities of concord and manchester nh for quite a few years now.
unfortunately the wt has looked into their resources, local bank account is over $100,000, and they can contribute $2,000 monthly towards a mortgage.

Talk about dumb sheep! How can otherwise seemingly intelligent people fall for this scam year after year while the mother corporation gets stinking filthy rich!? But, that's sheep for 'ya! They are bred to be FLEECED, SLAUGHTERED, or SACRIFICED. (I would say "mostly fleeced".)
There is just something SO wrong with this organization (beside their stupid doctrines).

Householder is just not that into it if...
by White Dove ini was thinking about how inefective the ministry really is, no matter how often one goes to a householder's door for years.. they just never bite the bate, yet the jw will keep going back.. jw's are clueless.
they need to know the signs the hhs give them.. it reminds me of that book he's just not that into you..

They don't care, White Dove. There are some JWs that have been knocking doors for 60+ years and never once brought someone into it. They simply care about the numbers on the time slip......translated: getting points for effort.
I haven't seen a time slip in years. Do you still have to count number of return visits?

I've lurked a long time: JW's produce some of the most paranoid humans
by Unlearn ini'll keep this brief for now.. long time lurker (4 years or so).. born-in, elder, used on district level (last talk i gave before i left was the baptisimal talk), and lots of hard time put in...before i finally made the move to split.
it's a long stoy, much like many of yours...but with it's own little interesting twists.
more details in the future, perhaps.. as i said, ive lurked here for a while.. its funny: for a long time i'd only come on late at night.

One of the meanings of "worship" is: Ardent, humble devotion.
If you look at yourself as the physical manifestation of a spiritual nature, and apply the above meaning, you can be ardently devoted to your life and remain humble.

I wish I had a recording of every major talk given at assemblies, conventions, special talks, CO visits, and other verbal declarations made during the latter 60's and early 70's. (Hold your ears...I'm going to scream now ;-):
THEY ARE LIARS OF THE WORSE KIND IF THEY STAND UP NOW AND SAY THEY DID NOT PREDICT 1975 AND LEAD US ALL....ALL.....TO BELIEVE ARMAGEDDON WILL HAVE COME AND GONE BY THE END OF THAT YEAR. THEY MENTIONED OCTOBER SPECIFICALLY. I WAS THERE AND FULLY AWARE AND LISTENING. I REMEMBER PEOPLE QUITTING JOBS AND SELLING HOUSES TO PREACH FULL-TIME IN ADVANCE OF 1975. THIS IS A FACT.
I'll stop yelling now, but it really concerns me that suddenly these same JWs have been programmed? brainwashed? hynotized? mind-f*cked into believing this was not the case. Like robots or drones, they all say the same thing verbatim: Yes, some of us went ahead of Jehovah's organization and assumed the end would come in 1975. !!!!!!!!! What????? You didn't go ahead of anything! The WTS lead you there.
But, those that weren't there have NOT been told the TRUTH. Cover-ups, lies, mind manipulation, hateful deadly divisive doctrines....ughhh.

"The Brothers"
by jambon1 in.
the longer you spend away from the organisation, the more utterly cringeworthy this term sounds when you hear it.. like they are all one big happy family.
what jw phrases make you cringe?.

"The friends" always gets me. One of my relatives always talks about "the friends" this and "the friends" that. These are the same "friends" that would kick her to the curb and metaphorically spit in her face should she decide 1914 was a Big Lie and say it out loud.
