I've been told by the men in my life (brothers, husbands, sons, friends)....."Don't tell them your whole life history on the first date." I've heard them say that they knew the girl's whole life story in the first five minutes...yakety yakety yak!

by sass_my_frass inive found that i have just about reached my tolerance level for anxiety.
the family stuff has pushed me way up there, and every three months i get exams, plus im doing job interviews because im rather over my stupid little job.
im finding myself losing my nut sometimes because i cant get rid of it and just blow out, eg: .

Sass, Two good books that I keep on my library shelf are: Hope and Help For Your Nerves, by Dr. Claire Weeks and Anxiety & Panic Attacks, their causeand cure, by Robert Handly with Pauline Neff. It's been years since I suffered any anxiety or panic attacks. I never took any meds. for it, just reached out for the books and read. It was like having a Dr. right there next to me. Reading these books calmed me down.
Great books. I have both and also used them to "cure" myself of panic attacks a few years ago. I don't like taking medications for very long and was determined to work through the problem in a different way and these two books did it for me. Highly recommended reading.

Did it ever occur you were defiling your body too?
by NotaNess in"no smoking".... it defiles your body and goes against scripture.. so as a witness, when pushing this train of thought, did it ever occur to anyone that when ever you dug in to those fried eggs, bacon cheeseburgers, and gallons of icecream, you were doing the same exact thing?.
smoking over a long period of time can kill you.
eating artery congesting foods over a long period of time can kill you.

I totally agree with your logic, Notaness. Also, gluttony was listed as a sin just like drunkenness, but have you ever heard of anyone being disfellowshipped or even counselled for it?

I know we're not supposed to speculate, but....
by journey-on inbased on a post today about the decrease in incoming donations to the wts and this.
i believe that the new mag arrangement starting next jan is the beginning of the wt becoming a really, really dangerous cult.
from another post, i speculate that the "for jws only" issue of the watchtower is going to be heavy on $$$ issues.

who says you're not supposed to speculate?
Sorry, Hortensia
I reverted back to my JW days for a moment.

Help me describe the idealized JW fantasyland
by sir82 inbased on the illustrations in the books & magazines, and the videos produced by the society, describe the world that the gb would like jws to live in.. for example.... -- parties never have more than 15 persons attending.
entertainment consists of one chap playing a guitar while the rest sing kingdom melodies, followed by stimulating conversations of "field service experiences" and "how i came into the truth".
-- children of all ages are perfectly well-behaved for the full 2 hours of a congregation meeting.

Development of the 'meetings'
by cyberdyne systems 101 ini was wondering if anyone knew how what became the 'meetings' came into being.
say from the time russell printed the watchtower, to congregations forming and a particular format being followed.. i guess this question arose in my mind because to become a member of a religion/organisation you have to comply to a set of rules or guidelines that make you more unique to that particular religion.
the jw's have specific meetings, and this is one area i was curious to see the development of.

:( on top of everything else in my life these days...im in the process of planning a sweet sixteen party for my little girl for may 12, and my oldest son graduates from high school on may 18 followed by a party i am trying to have for him on may 26 followed by my daughter's four dance company recitals the weekend of june 1. also my youngest sons birthday is this sunday..... so...i spent days designing and mailing out gorgeous graduation invitations to everybody i know and all our wacked relatives.
i wrote to the jws in advance and asked if they would please put their differences aside for one night to celebrate my son's achievements.

There just aren't any words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's what I'm talkin' about. The JWs are crazy. They are not in their right mind! They are brainwashed and mind-controlled and they don't even see the pure absurdity of their behavior. Any grandfather or grandmother who actually believes this is what God expects of them is nuts! If they can' see this, they are absolutely hopelessly under some kind of SPELL imo.
My heart goes out to you for what you are dealing with.
