Do you remember life before your conception and birth? Some do.
Research some of the accounts of people, especially small children, that recall past lives. Some are well-investigated documented accounts by reputable researchers. It's fascinating. Of course, there are the crazies that jump on the band wagon and claim to be some famous reincarnated personality. But, when you get past those people, and look at the real research and accounts, you have some pretty astonishing reports.
Someday, imo, when we have evolved enough, we will be able to explore the physics of the soul. We are already making strides to some degree in how we view consciousness. The body is merely the instrument of the soul. But, when the instrument breaks or deteriorates, does it mean the consciousness of the soul is no longer there? There is just too many possibilities to consider to say determinedly that there is nothing after physical death.

Life after death
by truthseeker ineveryone has different views about life after death and whether or not it is a possibility.. as jehovah's witnesses, we were always taught that there is no life after death, that this is the only life we have now and that the wages of sin is death.. .
what are your views on life after death?.

An Intro and apology.
by Slidin Fast ini have been an avid reader on this site for a few years and have weighed in on a few topics and introduced a few more without introducing myself.
for this i apologise.
the main reason for my reticence is that being a second generation born in but having been baptised in the 50s i will find it difficult to make an introduction without giving the game away.

.....and you'll probably die and have a JW infomercial funeral. There's your Life in a nutshell when you're an entrenched multi-generational born-in.
But, sincerely, glad you're here. We totally understand the " time and life invested in this ostrich" statement.
Look forward to more of your posts.

What would the world be like if everybody was a Jehovah Witnesses
by TotallyADD inon the news the other day they showed a young man after graduating from high school went out and got drunk and had a bad car accident.
he was paralyze from the waist down.
instead of going into deep depression of what he did to himself he started his life over and went to college and was involved in inventing a exoskeleton for disable people.

if everybody was a Jehovah Witnesses
Your leaving out the possessive use of the name made me chuckle. Made me think of how many times I corrected people that said Jehovah Witness instead of Jehovah's Witness. What a stickler I used to be about that!
Anyway, if everybody was a Jehovah's Witness, we would still be going to weekly (or possibly daily) meetings to receive our field service assignments. Some would be on cleaning duty, others planting duty, others quick build duty, others cooking duty, etc. etc. You get the picture.
If you are "special" you would get to slave for the new improved Governing Body!

I agree that there is no such thing as "Total Freedom".
There is always something that limits us or constrains us.
I think of some I have known that have had amazing talent, intelligence, and ambition, but were held back because of their religion, finances, fears, doubts, and insecurities. You can obtain "freedom from something" but TOTAL FREEDOM is elusive.
So, Terry, what are your personal limitations? List them, then go from there.

The Serpent of Life and Wisdom
by ProdigalSon inrather than trying to make sense of the bible as it is written (which is impossible), it's very helpful to consult the mythical source of it all.
"myth" does not mean "fairy tale" or "bs", it means an allegory that is attempting to convey wisdom as only a metaphor can.
that being said, having done extensive research into these allegories and myths, the following rings very true to me.

PS, I read this book months ago, and even recommended it to AGuest (Shelby). It was fascinating to say the least and really makes you think about what consciousness really is and what part DNA plays in the mystery of it. Although I have a lot of respect for science, it is not always as objective as it claims to be. Here is just one paragraph from the book:
"The molecular biology that considers that 97 percent of the DNA in our body is "junk" reveals not only its degree of ignorance, but the extent to which it is prepared to belittle the unknown. Some recent hypotheses suggest that "junk DNA" might have certain functions after all. But this does not hide the pejorative reflex: We don't understand, so we shoot first, then ask questions. This is cowboy science, and it is not as objective as it claims. Neutrality, or simple honesty, would have consisted in saying "for the moment, we do not know." It would have been just as easy to call it mystery DNA, for instance."

Guess who she ran into there?
As the sayin' goes: "There are no accidents." Either karma is going to come back to bite him, or your daughter will be faced with a conflict to deal with. Just sayin'. Sylvia, you know....you're fey.

Political Preferences
by Band on the Run ini've noted extreme left-wingers and extreme right-wingers here and, of course, everyone in between.
the right wing seems louder but that could be just my own bias.
some active witness in a republican club was trying to do research a couple of months ago about witnesses and party affiliatoin or ideology.

I think part of your analysis is stereotypical hogwash. But, the below statement is REALLY confusing? Anybody else see something wrong here?
