The organizationIt is those first two words that should make you stop and think. To me it has the same ring to it as saying "the CIA" or "the Mafia" or "the gang has never let you down".
It goes deep into your subconscious. In re-reading the quote, you are struck at how the separation between the leaders and the rank and file is emphasized,
the organization
vs.
us

"The organization has never disappointed us..."
by Franklin Massey inin the simplified english edition of the july 15th, 2011 watchtower, in an article that warns jws about apostate influences, the following quote is given as a reason to stick close to the watchtower organization:.
"the organization has never disappointed us and always gives us an abundance of pure waters of truth from god's word.".

Stupid Rule: "Necessary Business" Is Acceptable With Disfellowshipped Family Members....
by minimus inand if you live with them, you can carry on in a somewhat "normal" relationship but if they move out, you must treat them like shit..

What is even sillier is this: If you were raised a witness, but never got baptized (even though your parents put the screws to you big time to do so), there is no problem. You can live your life any way you choose, and you can still be invited over for dinner and socialize with your family normally. They can speak to you without it hurting their conscience. However, if you got dunked when you were even as young as nine or ten, and you are df'd, then you have to be treated like a leper (or worse).
Where does the Bible give that specific rule out??
I couldn't find anything. I knew it wasn't anything Jesus commanded. Sounds like it came from the "religion" of Paul. The JWs always quote the scripture, 1 Cor. 5: 11: "But now I am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man" (NWT).

The organisations love failed! (1 Corinthians 13:8)
by TimothyT intoday, a sister in my congregation told me that she could never abandon me because i have been disfellowshipped.
when she told me that she feels such a powerful driving force telling her she cannot leave me, it really made feel very warm and very close to her.
when i told my dad, he said to me that the force compelling her is the most powerful force in the universe: love!

Goodness gracious, Talesin! I couldn't open the YouTube, but the title of this post breaks my heart. The other day, I read your Post #12 when you first started posting to this board several years ago, and thought, "Wow! This gal sounds interesting, eclectic, assured, poetic, and funny!" Hope you find the inner strength to pull forth those qualities and start feeling better right this minute.

Testing, testing, testing.....Jehovah TESTS?
by Terry ina classroom teacher has to administer tests.
the teacher doesn't know who is learning and who isn't or how much.. a test pilot flys a new jet to determine what strengths and weaknesses correspond to the design because nobody knows how close.
the manufacture of it came to the ideal.. fire drills are a test: can everybody exit in an orderly fashion in a reasonable amount of time in case there is a fire.. if you think you may be pregant you take a pregnancy test because you won't know for sure otherwise (unless you wait 9 months!).

Jack C. Interesting points. I, too, think man is an instrument or tool by which the manifested physical universe of matter can be experienced by the Divine Consciousness. The Free Will aspect allows individuals to make choices as to the how, when, where, and why of an experience, but the essense of that experience is God's. If one aligns his/her Free Will with the Divine Will, then there is a reciprocal experience enjoyed by us.

T. Jefferson was on the money (no pun intended)
by cptkirk injust listen to this excerpt from his book written what 200 years ago?.
"they have been still more disfigured"(christ's words)"by the corruptions of schismatizing followers, who have found an interest in sophisticating and perverting the simple doctrines he taught by engrafting on them the mysticisms of a grecian sophist (plato), frittering them into subtilities and obscuring them with jargon, until they have caused good men to reject the whole in disgust, and to view jesus himself as an imposter.".
wow?.

In other words, we DO have a way of taking something simple and complicating it. We argue and debate it to death until we attach all kinds of caveats, explanations, exceptions, and you name it.
Whether it's Christ's simple message as Thomas Jefferson referenced or our First Amendment right. By the time we get through with it, it is all convoluted and tainted with opinion and doctrine!

Bemused...
by dozy ingot chatting to an old jw friend last night that i haven't spoken to for years & caught up with a lot of old gossip.
he is still active - high-up - knows the fault lines in the jw system but stays because he "doesn't know where else to go" & it works ok for him & his family.
whatever floats his boat... anyway........he told me a piece of news that totally floored me.... a jw in london has run off with another sister & been dfd.

And it wasn't as if he was a young horny guy looking for a bit on the side. The guy is now is his mid 60's - he'd need industrial strength viagra. In fact , the JW told me that this brother didn't really "run away" with another woman - he kind of hobbled after her.
Early onset Alzheimer's and lots of money? (From an inheritance, most likely...too much time in the ministry to earn much.)
Or, he may have awakened rather late in life, felt like he had had enough, and wants to spend the rest of his days living an authentic life.
Some of those JW marriages look like storybook relationships on the outside, but are unfulfilling and hellish on the inside!
