am i the only person ever to fall under the influence of the borg who can count?.
no offence all but jws meet three times per week.not five!
i consider the familiar statement about 5 meetings per week to be a good indication of just how indoctrinated a person is.

I'm in the greater Toronto area.
And I can't believe that this vitalquestion hasn't been addressed by co's, do's, zo's, annointed, bethelites and gb's.
You Know, Yadirf, Fredhall: where the hell are ya when we need ya?

if you want to try some aussie beer for free, go to this site and they will crate out 2 bottles of australian beer anywhere in the world!.
the things you find when you're surfing the net!!

Sorry, but Budweiser is the only substance known to man that leaves the body in exactly the same state it enters.
And as for Australian beer...you don't actually buy it, you merely rent it for a while and then give it back.
Expatbrit, from the land of beer you can stand spoons up in.

What I want to know is: is the song in the middle the closing song of the first meeting or the opening song of the second?

i am a policitcal conservative, at least a fiscal conservative and sociel moderate.
i support the death penalty, but i agree that our judicial system needs to overhaul how wwe treat criminals to achieve better rehabilitation results.
and of course, withhold the death penalty in cases where there could be doubt.. in mcveigh's case, i believe that he deserves the death penalty.
Danny:
You make a valid point, however my opinion on it is that it is difficult to link war and capital punishment this way. Almost like apples and oranges.
Take a circumstance: one country attacks another. I realise that this is ridiculously simplistic, but er, bear with me.
If I was in the attacked country, I would take up arms to defend it. I would not consider this punishment, but self defense. And any citizens of the attacking country killed would therefore not be the subjects of capital punishment. However, once the threat of the attacking country was rendered harmless, further military action would be unjustified, imo.
I cannot think of any justification for one country to attack another apart from pre-emptive self defense. If my country carried out an unjustified attack, I could not take up arms for my country. "My country, right or wrong" is not a philosophy I subscribe to.
Capital punishment is slightly different, but the same principles apply. It is not self defense, since the criminal is already in custody and rendered harmless. Once this is the case, any further violence carried out upon that person is not self defense, and is therefore not justifiable, imo.
Don't think I've explained that too well, but it's 11pm, so it's the best the tired brain can do. Do you get where I'm coming from?

just wondering......!.
a recent survey suggested that 70% of couples with pets insisted that their pet was removed from the bedroom before they indulged in sexual activity.
the remaining 30% didn't mind in the least if they were observed by rover or tiddles.
Hmmmm...I always wondered why "mom and apple pie" was such an American thing.

Did someone say something about monkeys and large private parts?
My family back home have some pretty large private parts. Surrounded by trees, you see, so very private. You can relax, have a beer, run around in your underwear, all in total privacy. No monkeys though.
Hey Fred, how about writing us an essay on your mother? (If nun, write "none".)

was at a gathering yesterday where i was told about a sister from here in canada who had visited the uk and asked to go to a 'pub' just to see an authentic english pub.
the brothers apparently were shocked at her suggestion since uk jws do not go to pubs.
it would be equivalent to a north american going to a niteclub.

And I used to think that drinking scotch with ice is a capital offence in Britain...?!
Drinking a blend with ice is perfectly acceptable. Drinking a single malt with ice will get you 30 years in the tower (of London, not the WT).

Amazing:
Isn't it rather too soon to assume that McVeigh has been forgotten and hasn't become a martyr to a twisted cause?
Revenge bomb attacks take months, maybe years, to plan and execute. I, for one, hope like hell he is forgotten completely, but America would be naive to assume this so quickly.

the story of zev.

Sounds like we share some circumstances buddy. I'm early thirties. Woke myself up to reality over the past few years, and stopped going last October. My wife is still in and pretty much a hardliner (she also will try never to miss a meeting), and pressures me fairly regularly to resume participating. You know, the usual emotional blackmail stuff....
Anyway, we seem to have taken slightly different routes: you have shared what you found with your wife, and still attend; I have stopped attending, but have not told my wife about the stuff I've learned on the internet about the WT.
What are you planning for the future, if you don't mind me asking? Will you continue to go? Can you stand it? Did anything you told your wife make an impact?
You certainly have my sympathy for your situation. If you like, e-mail me. Maybe swapping observations and thoughts could be helpful for both of us.
