  the other evening when i put the garbage out, i got that creepy "i'm being watched" feeling.. elders?

  i thought, looking around in a discreetly paranoid fashion.. nope.

  it wasn't elders.

  Sounds suspiciously like appeasement to me! Are you not afraid that one evening when you get home they'll be sitting at the dinner table, forks in little furry fingers, waiting for you to serve them?

  Elders? I thought, looking around in a discreetly paranoid fashion.

  Nope. It wasn't elders. Over by the neighbours I caught a glimpse of a familiar bandito face, looking nervously at me and greedily at my garbage.

  I half-heartedly got out the hose and gave Mr. Raccoon a good soaking with my spraygun, but I knew this would not be a permanent deterrent.

  Groan! We're in a new development, and so far haven't had a problem with these little bastards. But, sure enough, the next morning, the garbage had been rifled by little furry hands.

  What this means is that I AM AT WAR! But, I don't really know of any ways to keep the devils away. I'm too much of a weenie to shoot them coz they're really kinda cute. Plus what do I do with the bodies?

  Does anyone know of any good ways to put them off my garbage? Pepper spray? Onions? A copy of the WT and Awake?

  a trivial question came up as to what the "stan" in afghanistan and pakistan and the ilk means.

  i can understand how as former thralls we would have some morbid curiousity about what the fds/gb has planned.. i predict that whatever the specific content might be, it will be a baloney banquet no different from any of the other special events and special revelations hosted previously.. let's just be patient and trust in jehovah's organization to provide us all with a good laugh in the days following.. .

  I Had Coffee With Sausage Lucy This Morning.

  further to my post about how jw lucy told the local police that husband ray tried to murder her with poisoned sausages and later confessed that it was all a lie, i have today sat in lucy's kitchen drinking her coffee.. earlier, ray sheepishly told me that he had gone back to lucy and had forgiven her for accusing him of attempted murder.

  he also said that he thought part of the problem was that they weren't getting enough sleep because of a leaking gutter outside their bedroom window, would my little company fix it for them?.

  so, today, i set off with my big ladders and duly rectified the problem.

  finding friends outside the Borg - a Scary thought

  has anyone else found that the teaching of the "outside world" being a "bad association" limits your involvement and ability to make new freinds?.

  if so how have you overcome this and any suggestions to helping those suffering from these feelings?.

  yeah like, my boss's friends uncle called me the other day and said that at least 50 crazed rabid arabs ran into the local taco bell and like threw a giant beaker marked with a skull and cross bones on the floor and then they ran away laughing, outside a helicopter dropped a rope ladder and the arabs climbed on and flew off, all the while laughing manicaly and chanting 'death to the infidels!

  ' .

  although you may read only local newspapers reporting this incident, and although the local papers say only that 2 hispanic males ordered a mountain dew and it spilled and then they left the taco bell cursing the management, my version is the honest truth and not sensationalism at all!.

  the usa are using all the high technology from stealth bombers to satalite guidance systems, that they can muster, in an effort to blow bin laden and his mob into oblivion.. yet on all the main newsbroadcasts, what do we see?.

  we see bin laden, giving interviews to the press!!!.

  now am i misssing something here?.

  The bin Laden interview was almost certainly filmed before the attacks started.

  The el Jazeera (sp?) TV people are very closely connected to the Taleban.

  Are apostates stopping the WT from mainstreaming?

  on one of the threads, someone had commented how the wt's association with the un would explain a lot of the changes in wt policy regarding blood, disfellowshipping etc.

  i think this is likely.. it is entirely possible therefore, that the un association has been a good thing.

  I was thinking about this UN thing. On one of the threads, someone had commented how the WT's association with the UN would explain a lot of the changes in WT policy regarding blood, disfellowshipping etc. I think this is likely.

  It is entirely possible therefore, that the UN association has been a good thing. It has brought the WT along the road of further mainstreaming themselves. When you look at the many corners they have painted themselves into because of their cult practices, it does appear that the only way forward for the WT, the only way they can get themselves out of the stagnation they have fallen into, is further mainstreaming.

  For those of us who have family members still inside the WT, this may also be a good thing. Let's face it, most of our JW family will never be convinced by our "apostate" reasonings. The cult conditioning is too strong. That means that if the WT doesn't continue to change, practices such as shunning will never die. But if the WT does continue along the road of becoming a mainstream religion, there is a prospect of shunning, blood policy etc being ditched sometime in the medium to long term.

  But, is it possible that we are slowing, or even preventing, this mainstreaming process? Take the UN thing. It seems a definite move toward becoming more integrated with the world in general. Yet, if the WT gets bad publicity, loses members, maybe even (horror of horrors!) takes a financial hit when their mainstreaming practices are exposed by "apostates", will it not disincline them from further mainstreaming, and make them retreat into the cult mentality even further?

  The WT's actions are hypocritical in the extreme. There is no doubt of that. What is best? Exposing the hypocrisy, which may cause a few existing members to leave, and probably causes large numbers of potential members to stay away, or restraining the expose's, thereby allowing the WT to progress faster along the mainstreaming road?

  I don't know the answer to that, obviously. I have pre-supposed there is a mainstreaming movement in the WT, but that may be an error. What is best, the carrot or the stick?
