I have never heard wanting an abortion was as bad as getting one. I think you are stretching the "committing adulterly in your heart" thing a bit much.

Why abortion shouldn't matter to a Christian
by rhett infirst off, let me say that i am not a believer of the bible and am totally against abortion.
that being said, i'll get to the point of this post.. this is something that has bothered me even when i was a jw.
kids are judged by the holiness of their parents.

they wont leave me alone!
by zanex ini have a problem..i have been df'd for like 6 or 7 years i lose count but point is my parents are still stuck in the alternate dimension called jw and they seem to think that there is still a "chance" for me.
lol..funny shit i think but anyway, the town i live in just happens to house some of my friggin elder pop's elder friends...like i thought when i got df'd that meant they would leave me alone but now that i have a wife and kid that arent jw related at all my parents seem to think that my wife will "convert" i trust my wife better than that and i know that there is no way that she would ever do that..she is as cynical as i am..my prob is that they have infiltrated me at my work and i dont want to have to be an asshole about it but i just need them to leave me be...anybody got any ideas on things i can do shy of buying a fully automatic weapon and perching myself on my front doorstep?
anyway..i can hear the psychiatrist callin my name...lol..

Andi,
I couldn't agree with you more! A few annoying conversations are worth it for my family to not have to shun me. I know what it is like to feel obligated to shun someone. I don't want to put my family in that position unnecessarily.

Your wife's response was beautiful! I am going to remember that one!

Sorry, but I think this is TOTAL BS.
I honestly think that if a religious organization owned that much of a company that makes bombs it would raise more than a few eyebrows and be pretty easy to find articles about it.

Pioneering
by ItsJustMe injust out of curiosity, was anyone here ever a pioneer?
what motivated you to pioneer?
what made you get off the list?

I never became a pioneer, but desperately wanted to be one when I was in. In fact, an essay I wrote for my freshman English midterm in high school was about what I wanted to be when I grew up - a missionary.
When I was 12 and 13 I would pack my meeting clothes in a back pack and bike the 4 miles (up hill, both ways) to the Hall and go out in service all summer. I loved talking to people at the doors and loved return visits. When I was 14 I visited the Watchtower Farms and absolutely fell in love with it. I can still vividly remember the tour I took.
By the time I was a sophmore in high school I started to stray, and by the time I came back when I was 20 I was an unwed mom and had to work to support my son. But I desparately still wanted to pioneer.
As an adult, the more pioneers I got to know the less I wanted to pioneer. I meet several that were actually zealous and loved the work, but I met even more that seemed to be in it for the pretigue it seem to have in our congregation. It made me sick!
I just finished reading Crisis of Conscience. What impresses me the most about that book is Ray Franz's LACK of bitterness. He doesn't get caught up in the past and neither should we. Hindsight is 20/20.

JWs and grasping at straws
by target ini had a phone call from a die hard jw friend from back in wisconsin.
i had told her recently about the un thing.
she just knew there had to be some logical explanation.

I never got a response from the newspapers I emailed. I was too chicken to call, heehee.
I talked to my mother about it. She said at first it was probably not true then I told her they were actually listed on the UN site as an NGO. I had to explain to her three times that it WAS the official UN site and that I had read an article about it online at a REAL newspaper site. She was disturbed by it, but was felt it was a mistake by an imperfect human back at headquarters.
I left it at that.

Think and LB
I have been to Texas a few times, and married a Texan...and dragged his butt north.
It may be big enough for the two of you, but what happens when I am in town? can it handle three exwitnesses who want to party?

I think we all suffer from, at least to some degree, from PWTSS. That's POST WITNESS TRAUMATIC STRESS SYNDROME.

When you say they have infiltrated your work, do you mean they stop by or do they work with you? If they work with you, inform them that if they do not keep approaching you about religion you will have tell the human resource department you are being harrassed.
If they are just coming into your work, is there away they can be asked to leave by management?
